Based on our history of making the best possible rainwear for commercial fishing,
we now try to use this knowledge to manufacture functional, durable, high-quality and

From this starting point we develop, produce and deliver solutions specifically tailored

The son of a fisherman,
Carl A. Grundén founded a factory for oiled
garments in Grundsund,
Sweden. The production
ceased in 1914 because
of material shortage
linked to the onset of
World War I.
During the 1930s,
Grundéns introduced
rubberized fabric as
material for rainwear.
Rubberized fabric was a
lot more comfortable
and durable than oiled
cloth.
1954 the Herkules
trousers was introduced
for fishermen on the
Swedish west coast.
It quickly became a
favourit and since then
no other garments for
professional
fishersmen has taken
its place.
Grundéns decided
to start production in
Portugal. A factory
was established and
Grundéns invested in
a modern production
facility with qualified
staff. The headquarters
and some production
remained in Sweden.
Fishermen brothers Mike and Dave
Jackson from Seattle acquired the
distribution rights for Grundéns in
the USA. Grundéns soon became a
success on the American market.
Grundéns gets new owners.
The new ownership results in
a development and strengthening of the brand, product
range and organization. The
headquarters and warehouse
are located to Borås, a city with
a long tradition and cutting
edge know-how within the
textile and fashion industries, workwear, and logistics.

A merger takes place

1950s, Grundéns began
using PVC-coated
fabrics. This material is
still the world-leading
fabric for professional
rainwear that demands
outstanding
durability.
The company reached
its peak of expansion in
Grundsund. During the
summer of 1955 the
factory was moved to
Uddevalla.
Grundéns sponsored
the racing boats
Sverige, Independence,
Enterprise and Courageous in their America’s
Cup endeavor.
All crewmembers wore
Grundéns rainwear.
Grundéns South
America was established in Santiago,
Chile.
Grundéns inaugurate its new
factory in Portugal and introduces
the concept of light, medium and
heavy duty in all product segments. Grundéns launches new
product range within

EN 343. Protection against rain.
The standard specifies test methods and
requirements for fabrics and seams in garments intended to protect against bad weather.
The garments are being tested for waterproofness and impermeability to water vapor.
ISO 20471. Protective, high-visibility clothing.
The standard specifies requirements for clothing
intended to make the user visible in hazardous
situations, regardless of lighting conditions.
An update to the ISO 20471 standard will be
implemented this year. During a transitional period,
the same article can occur both according to the EN471and the ISO 20471 standard.
EN ISO 14116. Protection against heat and flame.
The standard specifies the requirement for
properties in terms of flame spread of materials and material combinations used in protective clothing.
EN 1149-5. Protection against electrostatic properties. The standard prescribes requirements for electrostatic protection and reduce the risk of spark formation.

120 degrees, a 5 sec, 3 bar pressure (low pressure)
Alt 1. Use large pressure plate to spread the pressure over a larger surface.
Alt 2nd Use a small pressure plate and build up a template under the transfer. (recommended)
The plate is going to be visible in the fabric when you use a small pressure plate. Visible as a
shiny surface. One can preferably add a thin cloth such as a t-shirt on the garment during the
heating to minimize the mark from the pressure plate. Slightly extend the time.
Results will vary depending on the tool in use.
