WHAT’S THAT? The game of Pickleball originated in Bainbridge Island, Washington 50 years ago. Parents were looking for something for their kids to do so with a couple of Ping-Pong paddles, a whiffle ball and an old badminton net (the posts were broken so the net ended up looking more like a tennis net) thus, the game was developed. Many of the rules are an adaptation from tennis, ping pong and volley ball. Pickleball is a ton of fun and, it can be good for your health. Moving around the court in Pickleball burns calories, which can help control your weight. Pickleball is a hybrid between tennis and badminton. Playing an hour of tennis burns off about 500 calories for a 150-lb. person, while that same person burns off about 320 calories during an hour of badminton, Diet and Fitness Today reports. Pickleball is probably somewhere in the middle. Come on over and join us! I think you will be surprised how competitive it can be. Tuesday & Thursday from 9:00am – 12:00pm Saturday from 8:00 – 11:00am I give free Pickleball lessons on Saturdays between 8:00-8:30AM George Lee ‐ Member 5 The Club at Flying Horse Bold, Beautiful, Wildly Original The Club Corner 719-487-2620 GOLF NEWS Everyone is getting the Golf Bug!
