ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSE FUND (ERF)
GRANT APPLICATION (FALL 2010)

Grant application included the removal and disposal of 8,000 CY
of contaminated soil to meet MPCA soil reference values (SRVs).

An ERF grant for $346,000 was awarded on May 20, 2011.

Hennepin County contacted MPRB to discuss potential use of
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds
administered by the United States Environmental Protection
Agency (US EPA). An estimated $900,000 was available.


Bid totals ranged from $360,257 to $595,000.

Bid awarded to Veit & Co. Inc. for $360,257.

Veit Bid included $18,084 for removal and

SOIL IMPROVEMENT COSTS

Six bids submitted.

Bid totals ranged from $734,455 to $1,047,000.

Bid awarded to Carl Bolander & Sons Co. for $734,455.

Bolander was awarded two change orders which increased
the total contract cost to $912,022.

Change orders included the removal and disposal of an
additional 6,404 tons of demolition debris and 1,484 tons
of contaminated soil, and the import and placement of an
additional 15,178 cubic yards of fill and topsoil.
