There is something for everyone to enjoy. Most museums
are within walking distance of each other or are served by
the WH1 Gorge Connect bus service during weekends
and Bank Holiday Mondays from April to October.
While in the Gorge try to visit some of the Ironbridge
Gorge museums. The Museum Passport ticket is the
most cost effective way to see as many of them as
you wish.

Ironbridge houses and Bedlam Furnaces
From the car park turn left along High St, into Waterloo St.,
then turn left up the steps at the side of the car park. Go right
on Madeley Road to the Goldon Ball pub. Turn right down
through Madeley Wood and to the remains of the Bedlam
Furnaces. Turn right back along the riverbank. Distance 1.5
km • Time 3⁄4 hours
From the Iron Bridge walk back through the car park and
along the track –signed Severn Valley Way and Route 45.
Keep right through Jackfield, look for old railway sidings, a
section on the road and the Tile Museum. The route here is
subject to landslip and the road is quite a roller coaster.
Past Maws Craft Centre turn left down to the river and the
Boat Inn, then turn left back up the side of the craft centre
and back to Ironbridge.
Distance 5 km • Time 11⁄2 hours
8 Benthall Woods
A hillside walk, can be muddy
Walk west away from the car park parallel to the river along
the old railway track. Turn left up into the woods and
continue right up to the crest. You will see the work that the
Severn Gorge Countryside Trust is doing to maintain the
woods. At the top turn left and return on the high level.
There is much evidence of the mining that went on in this
whole area for hundreds of years. Return downhill by a
convenient path and turn right back to the bridge.
