each property’s listing. Credit card details will be required to
ensure your reservation is confirmed. All major credit cards are
accepted.
• pre-booking recommended
We strongly recommend you pre-book your accommodation to
avoid disappointment, especially in peak times from October April and particularly in the resort areas.
• check-in time
You may check in anytime after 2pm. If you are expecting
to check in after 7pm please phone and advise the motel
proprietor (use the free phone number listed) of your estimated
time of arrival.
• check-out time
Please check out by
10am. If you require a late
check-out, please discuss
with the motel proprietor.
An additional charge
may apply.
• concerns or complaints
Should you experience any difficulties with your motel
accommodation, please contact, in the first instance,
your Golden Chain host during your stay to express
your concern.
• cancellations
Cancellations can be made either direct with the motel or
via our toll free Central Reservations Office - in either case
they must reach the motel prior to 4pm, 24 hours before the
date of stay. Failure to cancel your reservation by 4pm, 24
hours prior to your intended date of stay will result in full
cancellation charges.

Neither Golden Chain nor our member properties are able

ACCOMMODATION
PASSES
The Golden Chain Accommodation Pass is a convenient,
totally flexible, cost effective way to travel around New Zealand.
Golden Chain Accommodation Pass and pre-paid vouchers
are available from your travel agent and include both BLUE and
GOLD options as identified on each individual listing. These
two categories are based on each property’s Qualmark grading:
3 Star being BLUE and 4 Star being GOLD,
but note that some 3 Star
properties are GOLD due
to being in high demand
resort locations.
If you are travelling with
Golden Chain pre-paid
accommodation vouchers,
please familiarise yourself with
the following:
• blue to gold upgrade:
If you have Blue Motel Pass vouchers and have not made prior
reservations, you may stay in a Gold category motel (space
permitting) by paying a surcharge of NZ$16 in addition to your
Blue Voucher.
• one bedroom unit upgrade:
If you have open dated Single/Double/Twin studio vouchers and
a one bedroom unit is provided, a surcharge of NZ$21.00 will
apply in addition to your voucher.
• two bedroom unit upgrade:
If you have open-dated Single/Twin/
Double studio vouchers
and a two bedroom unit
is provided, a surcharge
of NZ$41 will apply in
addition to your voucher.

• gold voucher in blue motel:
If you have Gold Motel Pass vouchers and elect to stay in a
Blue category motel, a refund will not be applicable.
• summer surcharge:
Due to extreme high season demand at Fox Glacier and
Franz Josef, a Summer Surcharge of NZ$16.40 per room per
night applies, in addition to your voucher. Applies 01 October
to 30 April.
• winter surcharge:
Due to high demand in the ski season at Ohakune, Turangi
and Melbourne Lodge Queenstown a winter surcharge of
$16.40 per room per night in addition to your voucher, applies
1 May to 30 September
conditions:
All terms and conditions listed apply to reservations made via Golden Chain
Central Reservations Office and pre-paid accommodation vouchers issued
by travel agents. Reservations made directly with Golden Chain member
properties are also subject to the individual property’s policy and procedures.
