Pendle Performance and shod with a set of 20” Wheelwright rims.
The reason we wanted a T5 and T5.5 or GP as they are officially
known, is that we test our products before they make it into our

When we set up Just Kampers way back in September 1989 I was
a hard and fast air-cooled VW enthusiast. Fast-forward to 2013 and
I am equally enthusiastic about the VW T5 and, love driving one as
my daily. As I live and work out in the sticks I chose the 4-motion
panel van. I couldn’t resist adding a few of my own ideas to make it
unique using parts you’ll find in this catalogue.

The T5 was the replacement for the T4 and is the fifth
generation of Volkswagen Transporter. Available as a
medium sized light commercial vehicle and people
carrier, it featured petrol and diesel options as well as a
choice of front wheel drive or 4 wheel drive (4-Motion).

In June 2009, VW announced that the one-millionth T5
had rolled off the production line in Hanover.

The T5 was revised with a facelift and new engine
and transmission options, including a 7-speed (DSG)
double clutch gearbox.

Time and Distance Service
The LongLife Service Regime is so called because there are no
set intervals. The intervals between services will vary depending
on how you drive your vehicle and the conditions of use. There
is however maximum time/distance parameters set and if the
service light has not come on it will do so when either maximum
mileage or time limit is met.
We recommend this service if you are likely to drive less
than 10,000* miles in a year, and if you tend to drive in the
following way:
The maximum mileage/time parameters vary by model, for
more detailed information on LongLife Service regimes and
their suitability for your requirements please contact your local
Van Centre.
If you would like a more traditional service regime the vehicle
can be adapted by your authorised Volkswagen Van Centre or
Van Service Centre to the Time/Distance regime. This can be
done at the point of vehicle sale or when an inspection service
is carried out. An oil change is required every 10,000 miles for
Caddys and Transporters and 12,500 for Crafters on the Time/
Distance regime.

LongLife Service Regime
LongLife oil is a high grade, fully synthetic oil with increased
resistance to ageing and high temperatures
We recommend this service if you are likely to drive more than
25 miles a day, and if you tend to drive in the following way:

This LongLife regime has been made possible due to the
development of new Volkswagen engines with the latest
technically advanced longlife oil. These engines use built-in
sensors that continually monitor the oil quality, making it possible
to enjoy reliable and confident motoring for up to a maximum of
18,000* miles or 24 months (whichever occurs first).
No! All Model Year 2007 and later Caravelle and
Transporters require LongLife III VW norm 50700 oil.
Although this oil is designated 5w30, not all 5w30 oils
are the same. The critical oil standard is VW 50700 which
MUST be displayed on your bottle. Use of the incorrect
specification of oil may cause damage to your engine.

specification you have made to your vehicle as failure to

Whilst some refer to this model as the T5.5, the official VW name is T5 GP. For those who are
wondering, GP stands for Große Produktaufwertung which basically translates to; Great product
improvement. This is a term used by VW for vehicles which are facelifted. The good news is that it is
very easy to make the same external changes to any VW T5 built between April 2003 and August

We set out to address the obvious failings of the aftermarket ‘rock and roll’ seats on the market, the main one

hardwearing and water resistant,

The adhesive side is smooth, ensuring complete contact with the underlying

Tuning the JK T5 with TH Performance
The JK delivery van was in need of some help in the performance department.
So we invited Terry Harborne of TH Performance (a Pendle Performance Main
Agent) to work his magic.
We knew Pendle Performance were leaders in the field of vehicle tuning,
especially with T4’s, T5’s and Caddy’s so, we knew we would be safe in their
capable hands.

The process began with a visual inspection of the engine including checking
the oil levels. Next, Terry carried out a full VAGCOM check of
the vehicle to ensure it was fault free. Next he downloaded
a copy of the original software from the vehicles ECU
which is kept by Pendle Performance in case we
wished to revert to the stock tune at a later date.
The next step was live data logging, a process
where data is recorded whilst the vehicle is
moving. The data and original software is then
uploaded onto the Pendle Performance server
where Martin Westwell (the owner of Pendle
Performance) custom tunes the software, which
is then available for agents (in this case Terry)
to download onto the ECU. The result is a 35%
increase in BHP and 31% increasae in
torque.
Once this process is complete
another live datalog run is
carried out and the data
is analysed to ensure that
the vehicle is perfectly
tuned.
