World class country
Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world, is a truly fascinating country
with many extremes and contrasts: Mangrove woods, colonial churches
and architectural monuments influence the country as deep as materialism,
spiritualism and a huge gap between poverty and wealth. The cultural and
scenic diversity also reflects in the population. Brazilians are generally
described as very proud people with a spirited nature, who love festivals
and dancing. Their hospitality is certainly unique but the Brazilians have
many more reasons to be proud of their country. As five times winner of
the World Cup it is the most successful football nation in the world! On
top of that, a new windsurfing star also comes from this huge and exciting
country. His name is “Marcilio Browne“. Certainly many of you have already
heard of him. Our destination is more or less his home and one of the best
and windiest spots in Brazil.
There are a lot of reasons for visiting Brazil but for us windsurfers and
kitesurfers it is of course the wind that magically attracts us - and there
is plenty of it in Brazil! While surfing a tube is the ultimate experience for
surfers, for windsurfers and kitesurfers finding a spot with a high wind
guarantee is the holy grail.
In the northernmost part of the country, in the state Ceara, is the small fishing village Preá. Only 10 km south of the windsurfing mecca Jericoacoara,
a place that many of you have certainly already heard of. Some years ago
we were already at this spot, fascinated by the vastness, the endless beaches, the beautiful landscape and the very steady winds. At that time we
used to be the only surfers on the water. There was only the small fishing
village Preá, ample space, steady wind but no hotels nor surfing centers. Of
course things have changed considerably since then! You can stay directly
on the spot at the Vila Preá, which offers some bungalows and one of the
best restaurants. Or in Jericoacoara at the Vila Bela Vista or Vila Kalango.
Amongst the numerous posadas, these two are the nicest in Jeri, and here
you will feel comfortable and can enjoy your holiday to the fullest. We offer
you a daily shuttle service between your posada in Jeri and the Club Mistral
and Skyriders Center in Preá.

THE SPOT IN PREÁ
Skyriders opened a kitesurfing center in Preá in summer 2007. The kite
center has been in existence since 2002, and has been managed by
Patricia and Marcio, the owners of the Hotel Vila Bela Vista. The former
kite club Preá has become a Skyriders Center under the professional
management of Marko Berger and his team. It is located directly on the
long, fine-grained sandy beach in front of the Hotel Vila Preá. Here is
the heart of the center is located: Two wooden buildings with reception,
storage and nice changing and sanitary facilities. Directly on the beach
you can find a "Baracca", a small hut equipped with hammocks and a
beach bar, where snacks, delicious sandwiches, fresh juices and coffee
and cake are served. Here you can relax and refill your energy tanks
while looking at the beautiful beach of Preá or watching other surfers on
the water. You shouldn't miss a guided downwinder – an unforgettable
experience for every kitesurfer.
NOW ALSO FOR WINDSURFERS
And what about windsurfing in Preá? From July until January the average
wind force is 5-6 Beaufort with strong and steady wind. A long, broad
beach with a sandy bottom and side shore wind from the right makes Preá
not only perfect for kitesurfing but also for windsurfing. Due to these ideal
conditions and the great demand, Club Mistral now offers windsurfing
tuition and rental of Mistral boards and North sails since July 2008.
HUGE VARIETY
The area around Preá offers even more. There is a wide range of excursions such as buggy tours to nearby lagoons, small villages and dunes. In
Jericoacoara you can find a lot of restaurants, beach bars and a diverse
night life in great atmosphere. In the evenings you can watch "Capoeira"
on the beach and enjoy the atmosphere while having a caipirinha.

on a 10 km stretch of white sandy beach on the Brazilian coast, just south
of the Equator and the famous village of Jericoacoara. The fishing village of

Vila Kalango I The Pousada Vila Kalango is nestled in a 5000 m² tropical garden surrounded by coconut and cashew nut trees. This beautiful place is located
right behind a sand dune on the beach of Jericoacoara. The Club Mistral/
Skyriders Center is located in Preá (10 km north of Jeri). Both locations
are connected via a shuttle service which operates several times a day.
Hotel facilities & rooms: This comfortable, charming pousada belongs
to one of Brazil’s best accommodations. It offers 24 rooms of a different
kind: Stilt houses, bungalows and apartment rooms. The hotel features
a pool bar, restaurant bar, lounge with hammocks, sofas and a variety of
games, cable TV room, internet café, secure wind- and kite equipment
storage, a beauty parlour with massages and a thermal bath. In the
midst of it is a 19 m swimming pool, surrounded by a wooden deck with
spectacular views of the beach and the sand dune. Laundry service and

Vila Bela Vista I Vila Bela Vista is located in front of the beautiful sand dunes on the outskirts of the small village of Jericoacoara, where there is still peace and
tranquility. It is a 10 min walk to the beach and the town on a sandy road
with incredible views. A daily shuttle will bring you to the Club Mistral/
Skyriders Center in Preá which is about 10 km south of Jeri.
Hotel facilities & rooms: Unlike a conventional hotel, accommodations
are not just a room with a number. Patricia and her husband Marcio run
the small hotel with just thirteen rooms and offer exceptional personal
service. There is a great swimming pool and Jacuzzi surrounded by large
beautiful gardens for your relaxation. There is a wide open kitchen, pool
bar and BBQ area where weekly “Brazilian style” BBQ parties take place.
The Pousada also offers laundry service and wireless internet access.
All rooms have bathrooms with hot water showers, mini fridge, safe, box
spring mattresses and large decks with views of the National Park. Most
rooms are equipped with remote controlled air conditioning. There is a
private 40 m well on the premise offering fresh drinking water.

Entry/visa requirements: Please check the entry/visa requirements for your nationality with the
appropriate consulate or embassy in your country. Make sure that you do this well in advance of
your travel date.
Flight time: 7 hrs from Lisbon
Time difference: CET -5 hrs in summer, CET -4 hrs in winter.
Health regulations: No vaccinations required in general, but immunization against hepatitis, tetanus, typhoid and amarillic typhus is recommended. There is a doctor in Jericoacoara and the next
hospital is a one hours drive away.
Currency/means of payment: Local currency is the Brazilian Reais (BRL), 1 EUR = approx. BRL
2,5. We recommend that you exchange money or withdraw cash already at the airport. Credit cards
are not accepted.
Local language: Portuguese, almost all hotel employees speak English.
Transportation: We organize daily shuttles between Preá and Jeri (EUR 42/week). Car rental is
not recommended at all. You can rent beach buggies in Jeri.
