The Crossings at Cane Creek
The Crossings at Cane Creek is a 56 acre+/- single family development located at the corner of
Cane Creek Road and Charlotte/74 Highway in scenic Fairview, North Carolina. The site was
planned for 51 single family units with approximately 5, 302 feet of private roads and one 80 foot
bridge.
Downtown Asheville and the Asheville Mall together with an endless array of bistros, theaters and
curios are a mere 10 minutes’ drive from the Crossings. Asheville Regional Airport is no more
than 20 minutes away.
The subdivision is complete and a final plat was issued by Buncombe County. Planned amenities
include hiking trails, creek-side park, foot bridge and a rustic outdoor amphitheater. There may be
some minor engineering ‘clean-up’ issues with the county, but nothing detrimental and really
should be rubber-stamped. All stub-outs are in to include a planned main gate entrance and
guard shack. All drainage was installed as well as park play sets. Unfortunately, some of both
have stolen. All lots have been successfully tested for septic use.
The bridge was delivered 3 feet too short. A fatal mistake perpetrated by the bridge
manufacture’s own engineers and was only discovered by my surveyors, i.e. they were not aware
of their mistake until my guys found it. By the time my team and I had engineered our way out of
this disastrous event, the real estate market had collapsed and I was left holding the proverbial
bag.
