Those machines require intensive training, in a lot of cases the operators are reluctant to start working with them The handling of tires, especially of UHP and Run Flat tires, is still a delicate matter even though in the meantime there are several instructions and accessories available for conventional tire changers. After the introduction of the TC 450 now also the current model TC 310 will be equipped with an automatic mounting head combining the advantages of a “special” machine with those of a conventional tire changer. ATT / NUSSBAUM offers with this solution the optimum solution for the tire service in the workshop also to those customers who are not in the position to spend the money for a special machine. The TC 355 will replace the TC 310 effective year end 2011. 2 Technical Specifications 2.1 General Information • • • • • • • • • • • • • Tire changer for the tire service in the professional workshop For rims with diameter from 12“ – 27“ and a rim width up to 13“ Automatic mounting head, there is NO need to use a tire lever for the mount / demount procedure Mounting column, pneumatically hinged to the rear upon pedal operation Pneumatic movement of the mounting head towards the rim ensures comfortable operation Pneumatic locking and spaced apart position of the mounting head Tire changer with turntable and 4 jaws to clamp the wheel Double effective bead breaker ensures a careful handling of the rim during the bead breaking operation Electromotor with Inverter technology continuously regulates the turntable speed to 6 or 12 rpm Plastic protections for mounting head, jaws and bead breaker blade With optional accessories capable to handle also motorcycle and light truck wheels wdk certification in progress Pneumatic mounting help available as optional accessory Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Confidential – for internal use only 2.2 Technical Data • • • • • • • • • • 2.3 INNER clamping range OUTER clamping range Max wheel width Max wheel diameter Max rim width Max rim diameter Bead breaker range Turntable speed Weight Dimensions (H x W x D) 14“ – 27“ 12“ – 24“ 350 mm / 14“ 1100 mm / 43“ 13“ 27“ 45 – 390 mm / 2“ – 15“ 6 / 12 UpM 280 kg 1960 x 1340 x 2000 mm Extend of delivery • 1 piece rim protector • 2 x 5 pieces plastic protection for mounting head • 4 pieces plastic protection for jaws • 1 piece plastic protection for bead breaker blade Page 4 of 17 Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Page 5 of 17 Confidential – for internal use only 2.4 Optional Accessories Part Number 1987009M1ZN Description Chain with 6 segments as a bead depressor when mounting UHP and Run Flat tires Part Number 1987009M1YN Description Bead clamp for light alloy wheels Part Number 1987009M1XN Description Bead clamp for steel wheels Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Page 6 of 17 Confidential – for internal use only Part Number 1987009M1NN Description Additional clamping jaws to extend the outer clamping range for 6 inches, including plastic protections Part Number 1987009M08N Description Clamping jaws for motorcycle wheels (1 set = 4 pieces) Moves the clamping range 4“ Part Number 1987009M11N Description Clamping jaws for light truck wheels (1 set = 4 pieces Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Page 7 of 17 Confidential – for internal use only Part Number 1987009M0YN Description Pneumatic Mounting help device PT 250 TL. With the introduction of the TC 355 the TC 310 will be replaced but will be kept in the product offering until a low cost alternative of a tire changer with 2 speed motor is available. The plan is to have that ready by end of 2011. 3.2 Market Requirements The biggest effort for the user is when the bead needs to be moved onto the mounting head during the demounting procedure, especially with low Profile, UHP and Run Flat tires.. The majority of tire changers with leverless technology are special machines that are pretty expensive and out of that fill a niche of the market only. These machines are in terms of handling very different to those that the operators are used to. This means a higher need for training. The market requires a tire changer that provides the same functionality like a special machine but with less features in order to reduce costs and get access to a wider customer base. The TC 355 offer the leverless technology in a market segment where today only, so called, standard tire changers are offered. It can be assumed, that in the future in the „developed “countries machines with leverless technology will have the biggest market share. Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Page 10 of 17 Confidential – for internal use only 3.3 Competition Competition offer tire changers with “automatic” mounting head at this moment only in the segment of RACING machines (Max rim width 14“, max rim diameter 24” or higher), the only exception at this moment is TECO. Below the most important RACING machines are listed, even though those are not directly comparable to the TC 355 but are closer to the TC 455. Brand Product Comment MS 65 • OR.RAC/ADH • Incl. The TC 355 is equipped with an automatic mounting head that makes the tire lever obsolete. 4.2 Mounting head The automatic mounting head is designed in a way that NO tire lever is required for mounting and demounting. This is an advantage especially when handling tires with hard side walls UHP and Run Flat tires) but does also help to reduce the efforts for the operator when handling standard tires. The movement of the mounting head is controlled via one switch only, that is located at the head of the tower. It is adjusted to the spaced apart position to the rim via the valve on the handle of the head. The design of the machines is done according to the requirements for handling UHP and Run Flat tires. Some competitors offer an automatic mounting head as a retrofit kit but in these concepts the tire changer is a standard machine that does flex when handling tires with hard sidewalls. Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Page 14 of 17 Confidential – for internal use only 4.3 Movement automatic mounting head The automatic mounting head is moved pneumatically towards the rim upon push button operation and is locked space apart from the rim 4.4 Clamping Today´s tire changers with automatic mounting head are all clamping the wheel through the mid centre hole. During clamping increased care is required. Especially when handling UHP and Run Flat tires high forces are applied to the sidewall of the tire which can lead to a deformation of the mid centre hole. On the other hand every operator is used to clamp wheel through the 4 jaws of a standard turntable. 4.5 Bead breaker The TC 355 is equipped with a conventional bead breaker that can handle all types of tires, from motorcycle to standard tires up to UHP and Run Flat tires. Out of this the TC 355 is also the perfect solution during high season in the workshop. The double acting bead breaking cylinder ensures a careful handling of the rim during the bead breaking operation. Damages on tires are prevented which is important when the tires are to be used again on the same rim, i.e. when changing from summer to winter tires. Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Page 15 of 17 Confidential – for internal use only 4.6 Turntable speed The motor works via an inverter that drives the speed of the turntable, which is controlled using a foot pedal, to 6 or 12 rpm The motor automatically adapts the speed of rotation to the opposed force, reducing the stress put on the tire during the mounting/demounting operation. Thus, tire damage is avoided. Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Page 16 of 17 Confidential – for internal use only 4.7 Pneumatic Mounting Help device (OPTION) The pneumatic mounting help PT 250 and PT 250 TL are available as an option to be retrofit on site. The mount / demount device assist in the following operations: Push the rim into the jaws to safely clamp the wheel. Since the cone automatically is blocked over the center of the wheel the operator does not have to take care that all jaws are in right position. On machines where the mount / demount device is attached to the right side the operator has to check carefully that the wheel is placed properly to the jaws Breaking the upper bead if this has not yet been done with the bead breaker blade Push the bead close to the mounting head to position the head Push the bead 180° opposite of the head into the d rop center in order to demount the upper bead Demounting of the lower bead with the plastic disc. The disc is pneumatically locked in position (only possible with PT 250 TL) Push down the bead during mounting. One roller is pushing on the 2 o´clock position while a second roller is turning with the movement of the wheel Extended Product Information ”TC 355“ Page 17 of 17 Confidential – for internal use only 4.8 Inflation of tires with soft side walls (OPTION) To inflate tires with soft side walls in the past a special machine was required that was equipped with nozzles in the jaws. The TC 355 can be retrofit with a system to inflate tires with soft side walls. This means a benefit for the customer since he does not have to decide to buy a special machine when he does not yet know if it is required. The inflation through the valve is done ergonomic via foot pedal, the bead seating inflation impact is activated by hand 4.9 wdk - Certification The TC 355 has successfully passed the tests for mounting and demounting low profile and Run flat tires without damages and is wdk certified
