EnvelopeSystemsandTechnologies(ICBEST)”tobe
held in Istanbul, on 15-18 May 2017. Jointly
organized by the Working Groups of Building and
Construc<on Technologies in Architecture and
Structural & Earthquake Engineering, Istanbul
Technical University (ITU), Faculty of Architecture.
ICBEST Istanbul is the premier conference for
aWendees to benefit from the cuYng edge
informa<on on building envelope systems and
technologies. From the beginning, the Local
Organizing CommiWee has worked closely with the
ICBEST Advisory Board and ICBEST Community to
develop a frui\ul scien<fic program that will cater
for the research and educa<onal needs of a wide
spectrumofconferencetopics.
ICBEST is a worldwide forum for building envelope
architecture and engineering. It provides
informa<on exchange, networking, and discussions
of recent developments and their applica<on thus
bridging the gap between architects, designers,
engineers, manufacturers, and researchers. During
theindustryexhibi<on,topinterna<onalcompanies
will be showcasing products and technology
solu<onsofinteresttoconferenceaWendees.
To emphasis on the importance of collabora<ve

Architecture at Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin). She is speakes-woman of the
research pla\orm Construc<onLab, member of the research pla\orm Percep<onLab and
co-founderoftheEuropeanFaçadeNetwork(EFN).AsamemberofDocomomoGermany
andDocomomoInterna<onalandoftheDocomomoInterna<onalScien<ficCommiWeeof
Technology (ISC-T) she is also concerned with the adap<ve reuse of Modern Movement
Architecture.In2012shewasaVisi<ngResearcherattheGeWyConserva<onIns<tute,Los
Angeles. She is responsible for several interna<onal academic coopera<ons and ac<ve as a board member and

StephenSelkowitz
He has over 35 years of experience in building energy performance and sustainable
design,withanemphasisonRD&Dofenergyefficienttechnologies,systemsanddesign
prac<ces. He leads a mul<disciplinary team in the development and demonstra<on of
energy efficient technologies, systems, processes and tools. Projects range from basic
materialsresearchforglazinganddayligh<ngtodevelopmentofenergysimula<ontools
forintegratedbuildingdesignandopera<ons,andfromneartermfielddemonstra<onsof
emerging technologies to research suppor<ng “net zero energy” buildings. He led the
proposal team for LBNL’s new FLEXLAB, the Facility for Low Energy eXperiments in
Buildings.TheresearchprogrambalancesR&Dwithanaggressivetechnologytransfereffortsothatresearchresults
are effec<vely adopted by the building industry. Selkowitz par<cipates in a wide range of building industry,
government,andprofessionalac<vi<esintheU.S.andinterna<onally,andauthorofover170publica<onsandholds
2patents.In2012hewastherecipientofthefirstLBNLLife<meAchievementAwardforSocietalImpactandin2014
hereceivedtheMcGrawHill/ENR2014AwardofExcellencefor“relentlesslyworkingtoreducethecarbonfootprint
ofbuildingsandformovingthena<ontowardsbeWerbuildingperformance.”HeholdsanABdegreefromHarvard
CollegewithamajorinPhysicsandanMFAinEnvironmentalDesignfromCaliforniaIns<tuteoftheArts.
Prof.Dr.ToruTakeuchi
Professor Takeuchi was graduated from Tokyo Tech in 1984, worked for Nippon Steel
Corpora<on for 19 years as a structural engineer & researcher including several year
experiences in Ove Arup & Partners London. Aoer star<ng research and educa<on in
Tokyo Tech from 2003, he has been working on steel structure, seismic design including
variousenergy-dissipa<onmembersincludingBRBs,spa<aldesignincludinglaYcedshells
andcablestructures.AwardedasJapanstructuraldesignaward2005,IASSTsuboiaward
2005,GooddesignawardJapan2005,2012,2013,AIJresearchthesesawardin2011.
