Langer Equestrian Group has been honored
to host the NorCal Medal Finals since their
inception and has been part of their growth from
the Junior Medal Final, followed by the Senior,
then the Pony, and the 3’ Child/Adult. We are
also proud to bring the medal finals back to
Brookside, back to where they all started in 1976
when the facility was known as Pacific Horse
Center. Much has changed in 33 years, but hard
work and dedication of the riders, trainers, and
everyone involved remains the same. Good luck
to all of the 2013 NorCal Medal Finalists, we
hope you have a great week at the NorCal Medal
Finals Horse Show!

ELIGIBILITY / RESTRICTIONS: Open to riders who have qualified since last year’s finals. Any horse may be used by a
competitor (a stallion may not be ridden by a junior) but the same horse must be used for all rounds, one rider per horse. In
the event of illness or injury to a horse, a rider may petition the Appeals Committee to be allowed a substitution horse. Riders
in the NorCal Pony Medal Final may not compete in the NorCal Junior Medal Final. Suitability of pony to rider will be emphasized.
COURSES: 3’ Jr/Am, Junior and Senior - to be judged over two rounds and a work-off. The course must include at least one
combination, including an oxer, and at least two changes of direction after the first fence. Pony - to be judged over two rounds
and a work-off. Hunter-type fences will be used and fence heights will be according to USEF specifications for small, medium
and large ponies. Course will consist of not less than six fences with at least one change of direction.
DRAW FOR ORDER OF GO: The first round order will be drawn on Friday, Oct 11th (see office for time and location)
FIRST ROUND: All riders will compete in the first round. Each judge will give an independent score, which will be announced.
The scores will be averaged for each rider. Awards 1st through 10th to be presented.
SECOND ROUND: All riders will return for the second round low score to high score from the first round. In the event of a tie
score in the first round, the steward shall draw for the order of those tied. The scores will again be announced and averaged,
and awards presented 1st through 10th for this round. Then the scores from both rounds will be averaged to determine an
overall average for each rider.
WORK-OFF: The four riders with the highest overall average after the two rounds, plus any riders with an overall average
within three percentage points of the leader, will be required to work-off. The work-off will be determined by the judges. Scores
from the work-off will be averaged and added to the scores from the first two rounds. Work-off scores will not be announced.
OVERALL AWARDS: Special awards and ribbons will be presented to the top ten finalists in each medal final.
In all of the above, any rider not eliminated and completing the course will receive a score from the judges which shall be
greater than zero. An Appeals Committee made up of the Show Manager, USEF Steward and a member of the NorCal Board
of Directors will be available to receive protests. A protest must be written, signed and handed to a member of the Appeals
Committee within one hour of the conclusion of a class. No money need be given with the protest. Except for what is specified
above, USEF rules governing equitation classes will be followed.

General Rules & Regulations
ENTRY CLOSING: Entries must be postmarked by Monday, September 23rd and received within 7 days of the postmark.
ENTRY PROCEDURES:
a) For each horse entered: Submit a completed entry form either by filling it out and mailing it in or completing it online and submitting it electronically. Online
options include the LEG website (www.langershows.com), Equestrian Connect (www.equestrianconnect.com) and Horse Showing
(www.horseshowing.com). The entry form MUST include horse’s name and description, trainer, rider and owner information including valid membership
and registration numbers and all signatures (including parent / guardian in the case of a minor exhibitor). Even though classes are no longer required to be
listed, please check the box indicating whether the entry is a hunter / equitation or jumper entry.
b) If paying by check: Enclose (if mailing the entry in) or send separately (if entering online) a deposit check, payable to NorCal Finals Horse Show that is
completely filled out (not left open) that will be deposited on the entry closing date. If you send in a signed, open check, it will be made payable for the
proper deposit amount and deposited on entry closing date. LEG does not encourage sending signed, open checks through the mail.
c) If paying by credit card: Complete a Credit Card Authorization form (available at www.langershows.com, click on ‘N. CA.’ and then click on the name of
the show) and mail or email it in with your entry.
d) $40 Good Entry Discount & $15 Early Stall Discount: If your entry is properly filled out, your deposit is for the proper amount, and it is postmarked on or
before the entry closing date, you will qualify for a $40 Good Entry Discount and a $15 Early Stall Discount. These discounts will be applied to your account.
If your entry is postmarked after the entry closing date, is considered incomplete or is submitted without the proper deposit amount, you will not be eligible
for the discounts. In this case, no late fees or penalties apply, but you won’t qualify for the discounts.
DEPOSIT AMOUNT - Here is what you need to send in:
For each horse entered, you must submit the $100 Registration Fee, the $200 Stall Fee and, if you are showing in any 1.20m or higher jumper class (except
Modified Jr/Am Jumper), the $100 Jumper Nominating Fee. If hauling in and not using a stall, include everything except the stall fee.
UPON ARRIVAL TO THE SHOW - When checking in at the horse show office:
Regardless of how you paid your deposit, be sure to bring a signed, open check or a credit card to the show for the remainder of your fees. EXHIBITOR
NUMBERS WILL NOT BE ISSUED WITHOUT THIS SIGNED, OPEN CHECK OR CREDIT CARD IMPRINT LODGED WITH THE SHOW OFFICE.
REGISTRATION FEE: All entries must pay a $100 Registration Fee when
sending in your entry. This fee covers schooling in the rings when
scheduled, certain facility fees and allows you to properly add and scratch
regular classes when allowed without penalty. Please note that there is no
longer a Hunter / Eq Fee or a Low Jumper Nominating Fee. In addition,
there are no add or scratch fees being charged for any regular classes,
even when allowed the same day.
JUMPER NOMINATING FEE: Horses entered in any 1.20m or higher
jumper class (except Mod Jr/Am Jumper) must pay a $100 Jumper
Nominating Fee.
JUMPER NOMINATING FEE REFUND POLICY: Prior to showing in any
classes, the Jumper Nominating Fee is fully refundable. Once the horse
shows in a class, regardless of which class, the Jumper Nominating Fee is
non-refundable under any circumstances.
CHECKING-IN AT THE HORSE SHOW OFFICE: Upon checking in at the
horse show office and picking up the horse’s number, classes may be
added, scratched or changed without penalty. Any areas of the entry form
that were incomplete or incorrect must be completed and corrected,
including signatures, before the exhibitor number can be released.
ADDING REGULAR CLASSES: To add a regular class, please do so by
5:00pm the day before the class is to be held. Adds after 5:00pm for the
next day and same day adds will be allowed only if the time schedule
permits. There is no charge for any regular adds done properly.
SCRATCHING REGULAR CLASSES: To scratch a regular class, please
do so in the horse show office before the class starts. No classes may be
scratched once it has started. Telling the starter at the back gate that you
are not going or not showing up is not a proper scratch and will result in you
being responsible for the class entry fee. There is no charge to scratch a
regular class if done properly.
CLASSICS / SPECIAL CLASSES: You may add up until 5:00pm the day
before a Classic or Special Class is scheduled. After that time, if accepted,
late or same day adds will incur a $25 Fee and must go first in the order.
You may scratch a Classic or Special Class up to 5:00pm the day before
without penalty. Scratches made after that time and same day scratches
will forfeit the class entry fee unless the scratch is due to injury to horse or
rider and confirmation from the official show veterinarian or medical
personnel is presented at the time of the scratch.
SHOW SCRATCHES (scratched before showing in any classes):
On or before the closing date of entries, all fees shall be refunded.
After the closing date of entries, the Registration Fee and Stall Fee
are non-refundable. If your entry qualified for the $40 Good Entry
Discount and $15 Early Stall Discount, you will receive a credit for
these good at the next LEG / Woodside horse show.

All scratches must be submitted in writing (written letter or email) to be
considered for a refund; phone call scratches will not be considered.
Refund requests must be submitted by the last day of the show. No
refund requests will be considered after the conclusion of the show.


SUBSTITUTIONS: If a horse is entered in the show and subsequently
cannot attend and is show scratched, another horse may be substituted in
its place as long as the scratched horse has not shown in any classes and
the new horse is under the care, custody and control of the same trainer of
record as the scratched horse. In this case, all fees paid by the scratched
horse will transfer to the new horse with no late fees or penalties.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: USEF, USHJA, PCHA, NORCAL,
CPHA and various other organizations have specific requirements for entry
and participation in certain or all classes at this competition. Proof of
membership for owners, riders and trainers, USEF Pony and Junior Hunter
measurement cards, amateur certification and horse recording numbers are
among the items that sanctioning organizations require. Competitors are
responsible for knowledge of the requisite rules and for providing the
required data. Non-member and other fees must be assessed if these items
are not available. Competitors may be refused entry into certain classes if
required data is not provided.

LEG website under Northern California Shows, and either mail it in with
your entries, email it to [email protected] or fax it in to her at 773496-8884. These pre-orders will be dropped in front of your stalls the day
before you arrive and disputes regarding quantities will not be permitted.
This form must be received not later than 5:00pm on Friday, October 4th.
During the show, feed and bedding orders placed before 12:00 noon will be
delivered same day. Orders placed after 12:00 noon will be delivered the
next day. No orders on Sundays. NO OUTSIDE SHAVINGS MAY BE
DELIVERED OR BROUGHT TO THE SHOW.
GROUNDS FEE: A Grounds Fee of $40 per day will be charged for horses
that are showing that are not occupying a stall.
SECTION ENTRY FEES: After showing in the first class of any section
requiring a section entry fee, no refunds will be given for scratching any
classes within the section for any reason.
PRIZE MONEY / AWARDS: Prize money checks will be mailed or handdelivered to the owner within 30 days after the show. NO PRIZE MONEY
WILL BE MAILED UNLESS THE SOCIAL SECURITY # OR TAX ID # OF
THE OWNER OR PAYEE IS LISTED ON THE ENTRY BLANK. All purses
and add-backs shall be divided as follows unless otherwise specified: 1st 30%, 2nd - 22%, 3rd - 15%, 4th - 12%, 5th - 11% and 6th - 10%. Ribbons
shall be awarded to eighth place in all regular classes and classics unless
otherwise stated.
NON-SHOWING FEE: Stalls are available for non-showing horses only if
the show is not sold out. Horses stabled but not entered in the show must
complete an entry blank and pay the $100 Registration Fee.
RV PARKING: A limited number of RV spaces are available for $200 per
show with water and 20 amp electric. Self-contained RVs without hook-ups
will be charged $100 per show and must park where management
designates. Reservations must be made on the entry form and payment
made in full when sending in the entry form.
RDNE (Rode Did Not Enter): Entries that show in a class that was not
properly entered will be charged the class entry fee plus a $25.00 RDNE
Fee. Starters are not responsible for keeping you out of classes you are
not entered in.
RETURNED CHECKS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason are
regarded as a most serious offense and will be handled according to the
following procedure: A 10% PENALTY WILL BE ASSESSED FOR EVERY
RETURNED CHECK (MINIMUM OF $50.00). Accounts will be given seven
(7) days to be paid in full with cash or cash equivalent or they will be turned
into the sanctioning organizations for further disciplinary action. Repeat
offenders in a given show year will be turned in immediately with no 7 day
grace period.
EQUITATION ENTRIES: Equitation riders must wear the number of the
horse they are officially entered on. Numbers are assigned to horses, not
riders. If a rider wishes to change horses for an equitation class, they may
do so without penalty; however the proper paperwork must be completed in
the horse show office prior to the start of the class. Violations can result in
RNE Fees, fines and charges being brought by the USEF Steward.
MINIMUM CLASS REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of three entries are
required to hold a class (exception: medal classes with other minimum
requirements and classics / special classes). Regular classes with less than
three entries may be canceled, combined or held at management’s
discretion.

vehicles must be parked in designated areas only. Vehicles must adhere to
the maximum speed limit of 10 miles per hour and must stay on the Horse
Park roadways at all times.
DOGS: Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and
must be on a leash or otherwise contained. Individuals must not lead dogs
on a leash while mounted. Dog owners are solely responsible for any
damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs’ behaviors.
Dog owners failing to comply with this rule may be subject to penalty under
Chapters 6 and 7, as well as issuance of warning cards. In addition, show
management may institute a $50 fine for any loose dogs, per occurrence,
and reserves the right to impound loose dogs and / or summon Animal
Control at the owner’s expense.
CLOSED RINGS: Riders may not enter any ring marked as closed.
CONFLICTS: It is the intention of management to avoid holding rings to
wait for horses and riders. Riders with conflicts must arrange their jumping
order with the starters so that they will not hold up a class. Trainer conflicts
are not considered legitimate conflicts. Starters have the authority to
scratch horses and riders who are not timely or who do not follow their
instructions.
NON-U.S. EXHIBITORS: The legend “U.S. Funds” must be printed on the
face of any check drawn on a non-U.S. bank and used to pay any fees for
these shows. Entries received that do not adhere to this policy will be

General Rules & Regulations
MOTORIZED VEHICLES / GOLF CARTS: In accordance with GR1301.7:
Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to
operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be
permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not
limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the
competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid
temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as
long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. The
parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as
a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in
violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims,
losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will
be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s)
who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may
include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from
the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges
being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter
6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with
disabilities are exempt from this rule.
ABUSE: Competitors who abuse horses will be eliminated by the judge and
may be subject to fines and/or penalties. Abuse includes, but is not limited
to, use of the whip four or more times in a row anywhere on a horse; use of
the whip even once in front of the horse’s shoulder; use of a whip so hard
that it leaves welts or marks on a horse’s body.
MEDICAL WASTE: In accordance with the 1989 Federal Waste Tracking
Act, which restricts the disposal of medical waste, and the rules of USEF,
Bio Hazardous Medical Waste Containers (Sharps boxes) will be provided
in the stable area. All exhibitors and their agents are responsible for the
proper disposal of their hazardous waste.
ADD BACK PRIZE MONEY: In classes with add back, prize money is
computed from the number of horses that actually show. Horses entered
but not shown will forfeit their add back.
PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR: It is compulsory for all persons at Federation
licensed hunter, jumper, or hunter/jumper competitions when mounted
anywhere on the show grounds, to wear properly fastened protective
headgear which meets or exceeds ASTM / SEI standards for equestrian
use and carries the SEI tag. It must be properly fitted with harness secured.
It is the responsibility of the rider, or the parent or guardian or trainer of the
junior exhibitor to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate
safety standards for protective headgear intended for equestrian use, and is
properly fitted and in good condition, and the Federation, Show Committee,
and Licensed Officials are not responsible for checking headgear worn for
such compliance.
SCHOOLING SUPERVISION: Please be advised that starters also serve
as schooling supervisors and have authority, as agents of management, to
enforce USEF schooling rules.
POLING: Poling and the use of offsets ARE NOT permitted at any time,
anywhere on the show grounds.
BEDDING: Exhibitors may NOT bring bedding onto Horse Park grounds for
personal or commercial use. All bedding must be purchased from the feed
and bedding concession through the horse show office.
CORRECT NUMBERS: Exhibitors are responsible for insuring that correct
membership, ID and recording numbers are listed on entry blanks and other
pertinent documents. Incorrect numbers may cause points to be reported
for the wrong horse, owner and rider.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Alcoholic beverages of any kind may not be
consumed on the show grounds except when inside of RVs and at
scheduled horse show parties and special horse show functions that are
confined to a specific location.
TRAINER SPLITS: These shows offer a service that allows trainers to
have their tack stall, feed and bedding split evenly among their clients’
horse show bills by completing a Trainer Tack, Feed & Bedding Split Form.
Deadlines for filing Trainer Split Forms will be posted in the horse show
office. Please advise your clients that these charges will appear on their
show bill. Only dollar amounts will be split (not quantities) and totals will be
rounded up to the next whole dollar amount. Uncollected splits will revert
back to the trainer.
ADDS AND SCRATCHES
This horse show no
longer charges a separate
add or scratch fee for
regular
classes.
Competitors who add
classes simply pay the
per class fee, and those
that
scratch
classes
properly in the show office
before the class starts will
receive a full refund
without any scratch fees.
5:00pm DEADLINE
FOR NEXT DAY ADDS
Please remember that
all adds for the next day
are due in the horse
show office by 5:00pm.
Any adds done after
this time are considered
same day adds and will
only be accepted if the
following
day’s
schedule is not full and
permits adds to classes.
NEXT DAY SCHEDULES
At 5:00pm, the schedule for the next
day is calculated and times and counts
are published. Classes are offered,
combined or canceled depending upon
the number of entries. Any classes
combined or canceled the night before
WILL NOT be uncombined or uncanceled regardless of the number of
entries that want to enter it the next
day. Please ensure that you are
entered into any classes you intend to
show in the next day.

The Beautiful Marriott Maui Ocean Resort
The LEG Northern California Trainer Incentive will include the Woodside shows and conclude with the NorCal Medal
Finals. At each show we will calculate each trainer’s highest scoring hunter, highest scoring jumper, and highest
scoring equitation rider. Points are calculated only from classes that count toward a show championship and will be
calculated - 1st-10, 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-2, 5th-1, 6th-1/2. In the hunter and jumper categories if a horse is entered in
multiple sections only the highest scored section will count. The NorCal Medal Finals Show will be a double pointed
show for this Trainer Incentive Program. Even if a trainer does not field a competitor/horse in all three sections at a
given horse show, he will receive points for any section entered.
Point standings will be listed on our website - www.langershows.com
The LEG/N. CA Trainer Incentive Committee will decide all questions or disputes regarding this program and their
decision will be final.
