GREEN PRODUCT BULLETIN LEED® Fact Sheet – Luxalon Metal Ceilings U.S. Green Building Council LEED® NC Green Building Rating System v2.2 LEED® NC Luxalon Credits Hunter Douglas Contract can assist architects/designers in a number of key areas to accumulate potential LEED® credits toward project certification. The process of documenting these credits requires technical data from Hunter Douglas Contract and signed authority from the architect or engineer. MR Credit 2.1 and 2.2 (Construction Waste Management) ● The intent of this section is to divert construction, demolition and land-clearing debris from disposal in landfills and incinerators Hunter Douglas Contract aluminum ceiling panels are factory-cut to size, significantly reducing field cutting and scrap that would ordinarily be diverted into construction waste ● Credit potential: 1 - 2 ● MR Credit 4.1 and 4.2 (Recycled Content) ● ● The intent of this section is to increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, thereby reducing the impacts resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials Hunter Douglas aluminum ceilings are manufactured from material with over 70% recycled content (This contributes to both 4.1 & 4.2 credits): — 40% is post-consumer — 30% is pre-consumer ● Credit potential: 1 - 2 MR Credit 5.1 and 5.2 (Regional Materials) ● ● ● The intent of this section is to increase demand for building materials that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation This credit may be applicable for projects located within 500 miles of the Hunter Douglas Contract manufacturing facility in Norcross, GA — 1 credit may be available for 10% (based on cost) of the total materials value — 1 additional credit may be available for another 10% (20% total) of the materials value Credit potential: 2 EQ Credit 3.1 and 3.2 (Construction IAQ Management Plan) ● ● The intent of this section is to reduce indoor air quality problems resulting from the construction/renovation process in order to help sustain the comfort and well-being of construction workers and building occupants Hunter Douglas metal ceiling panels have no reportable VOC’s in the finished product ● Hunter Douglas panels are factory finished and manufactured to size to reduce the amount of on-site fabrication and finishing required which helps prevent indoor air quality problems resulting from the construction process ● Credit potential: 1 - 2 EQ Credit 4.2 (Low-Emitting Materials: Paints and Coatings) ● ● ● The intent of this section is to reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants Indoor Air Quality (IAQ): Hunter Douglas metal ceiling panels have been GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute under the GREENGUARD for Children and SchoolsSM product certification program. Credit potential: 1 EA Credit 1 (Optimize Energy Performance) ● The intent of this section is to achieve increasing levels of energy performance above the prerequisite standards to reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with excessive energy use Hunter Douglas metal ceiling panels that have a Light Reflectance (LR) 1 rating (ASTM E 1477) may potentially contribute to energy savings if automatic lighting controls are part of design criteria for achieving maximum efficiency utilizing natural day lighting ● Credit potential: 1 – 10 ● Hunter Douglas Contract 5015 Oakbrook Pkwy, Suite 100 | Norcross, GA | 30093 ph: 800.366.4327 | fax: 770.806.0214 www.hunterdouglascontract.com/ceilings
