St. Patrick’s
Day Parade
Top of the mornin' and Happy St. Patrick's Day.
It will be a green day in Ocean City and on behalf of the City
Council and the Citizens of Ocean City we welcome everybody to
the 30th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ocean City. The parade,
sponsored by the Delmarva Irish-American Club, begins promptly
at noon on Saturday March 13th as Parade Chairman Buck Mann
signals the start from 59th Street. The parade will head south,
following the green line down Coastal Highway, to the reviewing
stand and the Irish Festival at the 45th Street Village.
We congratulate the Delmarva Irish American Club on the
continued success of their St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Parade weekend
in Ocean City has become a family tradition for many of our visitors
and we welcome more and more viewers and participants each year!
So let the Parade begin and for all of those that are Irish, and all
of those that think Irish, Happy St Patrick’s Day!

B
uck Mann went into business in
Ocean City in 1967 by purchasing
the Shoreham Hotel on the boardwalk. In 1972, Buck founded Mann
Buck Mann
Properties, a progressive Community
Association Management Company at which he continues to run day
to day operations. In 1979, Buck built McGee’s Irish Pub located in the
Shoreham Hotel on the Boardwalk. McGee’s has since changed hands and
Buck is out of the Bar Business today, but perhaps not out of the bar. Buck
served two terms as an Ocean City Councilman for a total of eight years.
He also served on the Board of Zoning and Appeals for ten years. Buck
contributes to the Ocean City Community and has served on various city
and civic organizations including the Board of Directors for the Ocean
City Paramedic Foundation, Past President of OCDC, Fund Raising
Activities for Children’s House by the Sea and others.
Among his many accomplishments, Buck is the immediate Past
President of the Delmarva Irish-American Club (DIAC) and served for
five years in that capacity where he is now on the DIAC board of directors.
Some Twenty-seven years ago, three years after the first Ocean City St.
Patrick’s Day Parade, Buck ascended to a position of leadership for the
Parade. Under Buck’s direction the DIAC has assembled a community
minded team of volunteers, friends and family so that Ocean City’s St.
Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Festival is well attended and has become
the second largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Maryland and the only “St.
Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Festival” in the state.
Buck will again direct the parade this year but will also be in close
proximity with his family, daughter Lindsey and husband Mark Horowitz
and his grandchildren Michaela, Mac and Maeve. Look for Buck and his
family at the parade and tell them what a good time you are having.
