Allegrowithcashdonations.Inaddition,nearlyalloftheitemsinthesilentandliveauction
have been donated by parents, friends, businesses, and organizations. Without the
generosityfromthesedonors,thisauctionwouldnotbepossible.Ialsowanttosincerely
thank each of you for attending the auction tonight and for your support of music in the
BelchertownPublicSchools.Themoneyraisedheretonightwillbenefitthemorethan500
students,whotakepartinthemanymusicprogramsintheBelchertownschoolsystem.
ThemusicprogramintheBelchertownpublicschoolsisstrongandourmusicalensembles
continuetoimpress.Eachyear,ourhighschoolbandamazesthecrowdsattheSt.Patrick’s
DayParadeandattheBigEnotonlywiththesizeofthegroup,butalsowithhighquality
music and professionalism. The high school concert ensembles continue to achieve high
scoresattheMICCAfestival.And,thesize,andqualityofthemusicprogramsatboththe
CHCS and JBMS schools continues to be strong. This past year, our award winning high
schoolensemblesbroughthomethegoldattheHeritageMusicFestivalinChicago.
Theachievementofthevariousmusicalensemblesdoesnotjusthappenonitsown.Itisthe
resultoftremendouseffortfrombandandchoraldirectors,privateinstructors,thestudents,
parents, and friends. Each year, the Belchertown Band Boosters raises over $10,000 in
supportofthesemusicstudents.ThispastSeptember,ournewhighschoolbanddirector
Dr. Brian Messier witnessed first‐hand how the BBB and Belchertown music programs
literallyhitthegroundrunningatthestartoftheschoolyearwithbacktobackperformances
attheBigEandBelchertownFair.Inaddition,fundraisingeffortscoordinatedbytheBBB
andsupportedbyparentsandstudentsattheBelchertownFairinthepotato/coffeebooth
andparkinglotwereonceagainsuccessful.Tonight’sauctionisamajorfundraiserforthe
BBB.Fundsraisedtonightandthroughouttheyearareusedtoprovideavarietyofgoods
and services that would otherwise not be available. The BBB provides bus and truck
transportationtoparades,scholarships,equipment,awards,andpaysaportionofthecost
oftheGreatEastmusicfestivalforallCHCSandJBMSmusicstudents.Whenyouhavethe
opportunitytohearthebeautifulmusicthatourstudentscreateandseetheenthusiasmand
professionalmannerinwhichthemusicismade,youquicklylearnwhywebelievethatall
ofthehardworkisworthit.
