Scrooge event pack 2014
2014 Event Guide Welcome to ‘The Cornwall Physio Scrooge’, and congratulations on booking yourself a space on this years event. Designed to bring a little pre Christmas cheer, ‘The Scrooge’ is by no means an event for the faint hearted! After all, "external heat and cold had little influence on Scrooge. No warmth could warm, no wintry weather chill him. No wind that blew was bitterer than he, no falling snow was more intent upon its purpose, no pelting rain less open to entreaty. Foul weather didn't know where to have him!" So, you will need to wrap up and tough it out, its short and sweet but its still MudCrew. Don’t expect too many trinkets or treats, Scrooge “was a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone… a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner”, so we see no need to be any different, with just one exception, we like to help our friends down at the hospice, so we have sent them some humbugs... and a bag of gold coins. Merry Christmas MudCrew Mud Crew ™ Race Information Registration Registration opens at 0830h and the race will start at exactly 1030h. Participants will need to complete two laps of the course, (nutrition station half way around) and will finish the race at the start area, where there will be a MudCrew Christmas party with food, entertainment and bar open from 1200-1600h. There are no shower facilities at Heligan, please ensure you bring warm, dry clothes with you so you can enjoy the after party in comfort. We would kindly ask that all runners and spectators respect the beautiful surroundings of the gardens and take all litter and rubbish home with them. You can view the race map here: http://www.goodrunguide.co.uk/RouteMap/MyRoutes/356507/Satellite Mandatory Kit Trail Shoes and Gloves The route is very slippery and you would not want to attempt it without trail shoes. Spectators Spectators entry is free until 1030h when the race starts. After this time you will need to pay to enter the gardens, (£11 for adults and £6 for children over 5). The best place to watch runners is the start/finish point; from here you have a vantage point across the course and see runners at the half way mark. The bar which is near the start area will be open from 12 noon supplying cold drinks, hot food and drinks will also be served from 8.30. In addition Heligan tea room will be open from 0930h. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome to the Gardens all year round, however please note that dogs are not permitted to run with owners in The Scrooge, enter Heligan Tearoom, Stewardry, Shop or Plant Sales.
