FOURTH BIENNIAL FOUNDRY CONFERENCE
The Fourth Biennial Foundry Conference will be held
at Pennsylvania State University June 20-22, 1963.
The conference, the fourth to be held on the University
Park campus, is designed to provide up-to-date discussions
for the operating foundryman. The man who must work
with the molding sand, the man who charges the melting
furnace, and "the man in the shop" who has direct responsibility in foundry operations should be encouraged
to attend.
Men well qualified to present papers relating to the
practical phases of gray iron, malleable iron, steel, nonferrous alloys, and sand will be among the speakers and
discussion leaders who will provide much useful information for those attending. For the first time die casting
topics will be included.

FOURTH BIENNIAL FOUNDRY CONFERENCE
• All Grades of Sand and Materials for the Foundry
• Carload and Warehouse Shipments
We will have a served dinner again for the February
Meeting, and we have been promised a fine menu, such as
met with the approval of the vast majority of our attendance at our last two meetings.

DON'T LET IDEAS DIE ON
THE VINE!
SPEAKERS: WILLIAM BURROWS, Sales & Service Engineer
Atlantic Steel Castings Company
ALFRED L. HOKENSON, General Foreman
Ingot Mold Foundry
Bethlehem Steel Company
Mr. Burrows has been employed at the Atlantic Steel Castings Company for the past 40
years. During that time he has progressed from Molder, to Molding Department Foreman, Core Shop Foreman, Cleaning and Machining Department Foreman to Plant Manager.
He is presently engaged in Sales and Service. He will present a 4-step method to attacking
problems of and developing of new ideas.
Mr. Hokenson received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Rhode
Island in 1950. He has served the Bethlehem Steel Company since that time in various
capacities through Maintenance Foreman, Foundry Engineer, Engineer Manufacturing Division and now serves as General Foreman of the Ingot Mold Foundry. He will present a
brief description of the Bethlehem Steel Company's Methods Improvement Program including the reasons for its introduction and the benefits derived therefrom.
Both gentlemen will present a series of slides designed to present a practical illustration of
the "gimmicks and gadgets" that have been developed by their respective companies. This
will be a very practical, rather than a technical, program and should be a very interesting
and enlightening session. We urge your attendance.
