The hydrant can connect to a fire truck through regulation couplers, and can also be activated by passers-by to create water showers for a (wet and) immersive art experience. BUNNYFiSH designed the sculpture and crafted the architectural details to construct a fire hydrant that resembled the local fire hydrants while working closely with the client and local fabricator for a seamless execution and art sculpture for all to enjoy. Inspire Downtown Las Vegas | 2014 Inspire is a 15,000 SF adaptive reuse project with various experiences achieved through search and discover exploration. The building hosts a world class local art collection which was integrated into the architecture from design inception. The artwork includes sculpture, murals, and painted mediums and is often juxtaposed against the rough original construction of the building. BUNNYFiSH worked closely with the client and local artist curator Jennifer Cornthwaite, to select the artists and artwork for each space. The building was designed with many walls left as a blank canvas for artists to use. Black Lit Turtle Room Downtown Las Vegas | 2014 The Black Lit Turtle Room is a fun and vibrant room located inside the Gold Spike Casino. To complement the whimsical bar, lounge, and non-gaming playground for adults, BUNNYFiSH worked closely with Miguel Rodriguez to create and immersive guest experience with neon turtles, mirrors, and psychedelic lighting. The Listening Tree Downtown Las Vegas | 2014 The Listening Tree is an outdoor art installation in the backyard of The Bunkhouse, a state-of-the-art music venue. BUNNYFiSH worked closely with George Zisiadis to make this installation an immersive and creative musical experience to ecourage the guests to discover and share music within the new music district. The Bunkhouse Downtown Las Vegas | 2014 The Bunkhouse is a renovated dive bar turned into a state-of-the-art music venue. To preserve the spirit of the Bunkhouse Saloon, the original stage with painted Bunkhouse logo is now the ceiling above the bar and the grafitti fence is now a feature in the backyard area. BUNNYFiSH’s concept inspired the design for the rest of the venue preserving those key elements. Working closely with the construction team BUNNYFiSH stored all of the sacred cows, preserved them, and re-purposed them as part of the interior design and art for the space. Carson Kitchen Downtown Las Vegas | 2014 BUNNYFiSH designed unique artistic elements within the restaurant space that were major drivers for the architectural intervention in an adaptively reused building. Playing off the cool nature and the name of the Chef (Kerry Simon) BUNNYFiSH designed and applied a stencil “KEEP CALM AND KERRY ON” in the bar area to pay respect and homage to Chef Kerry Simon. Since the start of the project Chef Kerry has acquired multiple system atrophy - an incurable debilitating disease. BUNNYFiSH used the signature color of the Multiple System Atrophy foundation in respect of their friend. When Kerry Simon became the first chef inducted into the Hard Rock collection, due mainly to his moniker “Rock n’ Roll Chef”, the Hard Rock adapted BUNNYFiSH’s artwork and had it replicated along with other memorabilia from Chef Kerry. Oasis @Gold Spike Downtown Las Vegas | 2014 BUNNYFiSH renovated the former motel’s 44 rooms into a hip one-of-a-kind “crash pads,” each individually styled with its own personality and whimsy. Unique art was integrated in the rooms as well as the public pool restroom, where a custom wall graphic of pool scenes brings guests back to Las Vegas’ original motel pool culture. BUNNYFiSH worked closely with local graphic artists and the client to create a fun, retro graphic and art piece. REGENERATION::Lab Project Experience Evolution East Village Calgary, Alberta, Canada Regeneration::LAB is currently designing the landscape for a mixed-use residential/commercial development located in Calgary East Village. Entitled Evolution, the project site is 159,462 sq ft. Regeneration::LAB has developed this project through the design process, starting from site analysis and schematic design, through to design development and working drawings, and finally to field inspections. The first two of three phases of this project is currently under construction. Las Vegas Food District Las Vegas The 110-acre site is located one block east of the Las Vegas Strip. Three concepts were developed for the project — two-hearts, desert wetlands, and green streets. The desert wetlands concept, illustrated with this site plan, is supported through regenerative infrastructure. Landscape and building are interwoven to create a high-density, pedestrian oriented, regenerative community. A neighborhood core anchors commercial activity dedicated to food, including an outdoor market. This vibrant neighborhood core serves as the primary focus for work, culture and entertainment, anchoring commercial activity and providing residents with most of their daily needs within an eight to ten minute walk. Waterfront Landing Squamish, British Colombia, Canada Steven was the collaborating landscape architect for Waterfront Landing. This comprehensively planned and compact urban neighborhood is located on a former industrial site. Its design is based on the principles of Smart Growth on the Ground along with numerous elements of sustainability and green development. The development is built around is a constructed lagoon. This feature is connected with a river that is susceptible to periodic natural flooding. This natural process is utilized to naturally cleanse the lagoon and provide healthy habitat for fish and wildlife. Steven coordinated with the consultant team to ensure a seamless connection between built and natural features. Steven developed and coordinated a series of concept drawings through the design process to illustrate project concepts to Council and the public. Steven also authored and coordinated the landscape guidelines as part of the comprehensive planning document. Miguel Rodriguez Local Artist Project Experience Wetlands Neighborhood Park – Giant Concrete Animals Las Vegas | 2008 The Wetlands Nature Preserve is home to hundreds of species of animals. The Preserve includes ponds, interpretive wayside exhibits, and a network of connecting trails and shady lanes to provide hours of nature exploration. Miguel Rodriguez worked closely with the committee to design the giant concrete animals for the Wetlands Park. Miguel’s sculptures are meant to be climbable art in the form of a beaver, a snake, and a toad and are inviting for scrambling, sitting, and photo-taking. Miguel’s process involved modeling the animal figures out of clay. Miguel’s second step after sculpting the smaller scale clay models is to sculpt full size models out of foam. These foam sculptures will also be the mold for the fiberglass molding to later cast in concrete. After making the fiberglass molds, Miguel begins to cast the animals out of concrete. Finally, after the molds have been removed and the concrete has cured, the last step is to paint the concrete sculptures. Hand Throne for Stupidiotic The Strip | New York New York Casino | 2008 Miguel’s art installation in the New York New York Casino is an engaging art piece and a conversation starter. Miguel designed and fabricated the art piece. Golden Gate Tile Mural Downtown Las Vegas | 2012 For the renovation of the Golden Gate Hotel, Miguel’s mural pays homage to the history of the hotel and evokes past sentiments through the texture and broken abstract imagery which speaks to the hotels moniker. Miguel was involved in every phase of the project, from conceptual to artistic painting and installation. Black Lit Turtle Room Downtown Las Vegas | 2014 The Black Lit Turtle Room is a fun vibrant room located in the Gold Spike Casino designed to complement the whimsical bar, lounge, and nongaming playground casino. Miguel Rodriguez worked closely with BUNNYFiSH to create and immersive guest experience with neon turtles, mirrors, and psychedelic lighting that transports you to a fantasy world. Miguel was involved with the sculpting, painting, lighting design and installation. George Zisiadis Non-Local Artist Project Experience Lightrail San Francisco | 2016 LightRail will be the world’s first subway-responsive light sculpture. It will use LED lights to visualize the real-time movement of underground trains along two miles of San Francisco's Market Street. It was commissioned by Illuminate the Arts and has involved extensive community outreach with dozens of community organizations, city agencies, and elected officials. Pulse of the City San Francisco | 2013 Pulse of the City is an interactive public art installation that transforms pedestrians' heartbeats into music. It was commissioned by the City of Boston and five installations were placed around the city. Over 8,000 unique interactions were recorded in a one year period. The Listening Tree Downtown Las Vegas | 2014 The Listening Tree is a permanent interactive public art installation that invites visitors to participate in the joy of music discovery. Each of its fifteen headphones are always playing unique music. It was commissioned by the Downtown Project in Las Vegas, NV to highlight and integrate with the city’s new music district. Stepping Sounds City of Palo Alto | 2015 Stepping Sounds is a permanent interactive public art installation for Palo Alto's Magical Bridge Playground. It uses hidden sensors and speakers to make it sound as though visitors are stepping on various environmental surfaces like mud, water, leaves, snow etc. It’s bespoke design was executed in close collaboration with the landscape architect and construction contractor.
