Heikin- Ashi Charts
CQG IC HOTSHEET 14x1 2013 Q1 new features by Alpha/Beta Release Analytics: Heikin-Ashi Charts Heikin-Ashi charts are a derivative of candlestick charts. Bars are constructed with data from the prior period’s open-close midpoint and the current period’s open-high-low-close average. The resulting candlestick filters out noise in an effort to better capture the trend: Heikin-Ashi charts represent the average pace of prices. HeikinAshi Charts Heikin-Ashi charts provide technical analysts with a versatile tool that can filter noise, foreshadow reversals, and identify classic chart patterns. All aspects of classical technical analysis can be applied to these charts; traders can use them to identify support and resistance, draw trend-lines, or measure retracements. Volume indicators and momentum oscillators also work well with the chart. Overall, Heikin-Ashi charts represent a valuable technique in efforts to identify trends and to predict future prices. Additional improvements will follow in other 14x releases. Easier Symbol Entry and Column Picking Symbol entry is now more intuitive and easier with this new feature in Monitors. A slight delay on first startup remains due to code library initialization processes. Projects are also in the works to improve study and condition calculations. instrument price history overviews using the close price: • Day: Current trading day (CQG standard sessions) using a sixtyminute time interval • Week: The last seven days (CQG standard sessions) with a sixhour time interval • Month: The last month of data using daily close prices Sparkline Coloring • Red and green line colors show prices below and above yesterday’s close, respectively. • A gray line color shows time intervals without price data (i.e. no trades). • A dotted line on the day sparkline shows the previous day’s close price. • Orange dots show the period’s high and low prices. HTML Help HTML Help is best considered in before and after terms: Before: Customers using an OS later than XP who attempted to use Help received an error and were forced to download a patch in order for Help to work. After: Help works and a patch isn’t necessary. Before: We had Help files for different aspects of our system (Trading, Options, Charting and Studies, Analytics, and Basics). Navigating between those files was difficult. After: We have a single, complete Help file where customers can access assistance for any component of our system. • Create a watchlist using text strings. Continued on next page CQG IC HOTSHEET 14x2 14x1 2013 Q1 new features by Alpha/Beta Release HTML Help, continued 2013 Outlook After: Customers can open Help without it being tied to a specific application. Customers enter Help at a guide that directs them to the information they are looking for. Additionally, customers can use the navigation panel of the left side of the Help window. Breadcrumbs on each page allow customers to keep track of where they have been. Q2 Outlook Before: Only the Help file delivered with the software was accessible. After: The most recent Help file is available to customers no matter what version they’re using. Customers can choose to use a version-specific file. Before: CQG employees copied and pasted Help content into emails to send to customers. After: We can email customers directly from the Help file. We can announce new content and features with a link to that Help topic and can send a Getting Started link to new customers. We can send procedures, format details, and symbology in response to customer inquiries. • Additional Multithreading and Performance Improvements • Sub-minute charts • Range bar charts • Renko charts • Decimals throughout CQG IC • Auto trading • Spreader Yield improvements • CQG Web/Mobile • Co-Located Exchange Gateway in Singapore/SGX Before: Help could be launched only through context sensitivity, meaning Help was always launched for whichever system component was in focus.
