“I Cedri” is an agro-tourist res resort located in Albiano, a warm and sunny hillside directly
opposite the beautiful medieval town of Barga, in the northernmost tip of Tuscany. It rises
on an area of 40 acres, traditionally cultivated with olive groves and vineyards.
At centre of the estate is situated Villa Mordini, built in 1710 and was the summer home of
the Mordini family. Previously a much older home was located on the property, which fell
into ruin following a fire. In fact the oldest document that is testimony to the early existence
of this property is an deed of purchase stipulated by a certain Notary Martino of
Molazzana, on 23 December 1203.
The land was called “ad dongionem” or “the tower”, which gives evidence of the existence
of an old warning tower. The current structure of the villa conserves in part this
characteristic and can be seen by the embattled tower which overhangs the roof of the
house and from which you can admire a beautiful view on the Apuan Alps and the city of
Barga.
“I Cedri” is made up of several country accommodations completely restructured with
great care using traditional Tuscan material: stone, chestnut wood, traditional handmade
terra cotta tile.
On the grounds, between the terraced country fields are three beautiful swimming pools
from which one can enjoy a splendid panorama of the underlying valley and the mountains
that surround this enchanted place.
There are two different groups of accommodation facilities:
-
the “Antica Filanda”, a large stone-faced building, which was once used as a silk
factory, where you can find three luxury apartments;
the “Casa del Rosso” and the “Capanna del Rosso”, which are two farm houses
located in a typical Tuscan countryside;
On the grounds, between the terraced country fields are three beautiful infinity swimming
pools from which one can enjoy a splendid panorama of the underlying valley and the
mountains that surround this enchanted place.
The land, mainly terraced and on a sunny side, is traditionally cultivated with olive groves
and vineyards. There is also a small grove of chestnut trees.
Starting from 2006, a project of realising a new 5 acres vineyard started and now the
vineyard produces up to 10.000 bottles of wine a year.
The selected cultivar, selected according the peculiar characteristic of our terroir are Syrah
for 70% and Merlot and Pinot Noir for the remaining 30%.
At the same time, the wine cellars for the production and the conservation of wine have
been completely restored.
The farm is strictly following the organic production procedures.
There are no words to describe the peace, tranquillity and magical serenity that can be
experienced in this place, walking among the olive trees, along the antique rows of grape
vines or resting in the shade of secular trees.
At “I Cedri” we join respect for tradition, the privacy of our guests along with all the
comforts necessary to ensure a pleasing and relaxing holiday.
You will discover places and things that are unknown but at the same time seemingly
familiar.
A visit to the old town of Barga, with its art and culture, an excursion on horseback, a
bicycle ride, a walk through the vineyard or among the olive and cypress trees, will make
you feel in complete harmony with the nature that surrounds you.
At “I Cedri” the accommodation facilities are the following:
The “Antica Filanda”
La Filanda is a large stone-faced building, which was once used as a silk factory up to the
second half of the eighteenth century and now has been completely restored with care and
detail.
On the ground floor there is a large hall with a beautiful stone fireplace, which can be used
for dinners, functions and seminars.
Outside there is a large garden area where in the summer it is possible to dine outdoors,
enjoying a magnificent view of Barga.
On the first floor there are three spacious and high standard apartments (“Magnolia”,
“Camelia” and “Gelsomino”), two of which have two bedrooms, each with bathroom en
suite (one with a bathtub, the other with a shower).
A third apartment is larger than the other two having three bedrooms and a more spacious
living-dining-kitchen area.
From the apartments, which have all modern comforts, including air conditioning, satellite
dish, free wi-fi internet access and so on, the view of the medieval city of Barga is
magnificent, especially at night when Barga looks like a fairy tale village with all the city
lights.
Outside there is a large private garden with a BBQ area and a beautiful infinity swimming
pool.
The “Casa del Rosso”
La Casa del Rosso is an old farmhouse with stone-faced walls which has been completely
restored.
On the ground floor there are two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living-dining room and a
kitchen in a typical Tuscan farm style.
On the first floor there is a bedroom with bathroom en suite along with a private lounge.
Outside there is a private covered area for summer dining served by an extra kitchen.
From the infinity swimming pool (shared with la Capanna del Rosso), one can enjoy a
beautiful sight of this enchanted land.
The “Capanna del Rosso”
La Capanna del Rosso, once an old hayloft, is a cosy Villa with stone faced walls.
On the ground floor there is a living-dining-kitchen area with fireplace. On the first floor
there is a spacious bedroom with bathroom en suite and jacuzzi tub.
Outside there is a private covered area for summer dining and a stone BBQ. The lovely
infinity swimming pool is shared with la Casa del Rosso.
