In 1974, he began breeding Pyrenean Mastiffs under the kennel name La Tajadera del Tio Roy. The Mastiffs have won more than 180 National and International Championships. In 1977 he founded the Spanish Pyrenean Mastiff Club (CMPE). He is currently the president of this club. Rafael has authored or co-authored nine books and several articles, both in Spanish and English, mainly about Molosser breeds but also about Sighthounds and Herding dogs. He has been an International FCI judge since 1982 and has judged all breed shows and also Molosser and Sighthound Specialties in International Shows in most Europeon, North American, South American, Scandinavian countries and Australia. Yearly he judges National Club Shows for most of the Molosser, as well as, Sighthound breeds in several countries of the five continents. Rafael has been an all breed FCI International judge since 2003. He is a member of the Board of Judges of the Spanish Kennel Club from 2004 to 2009 and is President of the Aragon Kennel Club since 1990. Rita Bell grew up in Girard, Pennsylvania, where there was always a family dog. She began showing horses at age 6 and judging horse shows at age 19. After college she moved to New York State and acquired her first German Shorthaired Pointer. Showing dogs followed naturally from showing horses. Rita bred and showed German Shorthairs for many years under the kennel names Charida and O’Charida, and she also co-owned and showed English Setters. She has finished many AKC and CKC champions, most recently Am.GCH CH and Can.CH O’Charida’s Remember Fu Manchu JH. Rita was first approved by AKC to judge German Shorthaired Pointers in 1995. She has since gained approval for all Sporting breeds and Group as well as most Hounds, Miscellaneous Breeds, Junior Showmanship, and Best in Show. Rita has judged the German Shorthaired Pointer National Specialty Show and all breed shows in most states in the US and in Ontario and the Bahamas. Rita J. Biddle began her career in the sport of purebred dogs over 45 years ago with Great Danes. In the early ‘80s, she became interested in the Akita after taking care of one for a friend and had the two breeds simultaneously until she lost her last Dane in 1997. Her kennel name is O’Ryan. While quite a few of her Danes became champions, her involvement with the Akita has been more intense resulting in many champions. Her line produced foundation stock for several kennels including a bitch who became one of the top producers in breed history with 16 champions from four different sires. One of her offspring was the youngest Akita to ever go BIS. In 2010, her male became the 9th Akita to earn an AKC Grand Championship and finished the year #6 in breed standings. Rita also have been very active in her all breed club, Ingham Co. KC, and has served in various officer positions and is the club’s Delegate to the AKC. Her parent club activities include serving as Past President of the Akita Club of America, one of the founders and current President of the Wolverine Akita Club, and current Vice-President of the United States Neapolitan Mastiff Club. In the mid-’80s, she began judging matches and fell in love with that side of the sport. She thoroughly enjoy studying the various breeds and finds their history and the purpose for which they were bred to be most fascinating. She is always impressed that form follows function and how so many of the standards reflect this fact. When judging, Rita tries her best to find the exhibits that most closely fit their standard. She has judged all over the US at all breed shows, regional and national specialties. She’s also been honored and privileged to judge all breed shows and specialties in Canada, Mexico, the UK, and Europe. It is always a thrill for her to put her hands on a dog and then to watch it move and evaluate it against its standard. There are many great moments in judging, such as: putting a young puppy at ease and feeling them relax in your hands and start to have a good time, finding a young dog that goes on to become one of the greats in its breed, and having an exhibit that takes your breath away standing or moving. The whole judging process is a most challenging and rewarding endeavor. Rita is happy to have the sport of pure bred dogs as a major part of her life and is most pleased to be with you this weekend. 5 Randy Garren of Apex, NC used his lawn-mowing money at the age of 12 to purchase his first dog, a Toy Poodle. From that moment, his enjoyment of the sport and purebred dogs has never waned. He bred over 60 champions of his own, and as a professional handler, he and his partner finished about 1,000 champions. Their top winners were two Standard Poodles, one was the topwinning Non-Sporting dog in history, and the other was Ch. Whisperwind On A Carousel, Best In Show at Westminster in 1991. Mr. Garren was co-breeder of the 2009 Westminster Non-Sporting Group winner. He began judging in 2000 and is now licensed for the Non-Sporting and Toy Groups and most of the Hound breeds. Nemanja Jovanović Nemanja Jovanović is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Under the prefix Heartily, he breeds West Highland White Terriers, Scottish Terriers, and Jack Russel Terriers. Many of his dogs won the World, European, International, and Multi- beauty championships. Nemanja Jovanović is an international judge for FCI groups 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9. He judged at many international shows in Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Gorgia, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Litvania, Montenegro, Moldavia, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Spain, Ukraine and Uruguay. He is a member of the organizational committee of the Belgrade International Dog Show, a member of the Serbian Toy Breed, Retriever, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Polar Breed clubs, and a chairman of the Toy and Short-Legged Terrier Section of the Terrier Club of Serbia He participates as a teacher in educational seminars for student judges, organized by Serbian Kennel Club and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Belgrade. Karsten Kaemling has his background in Terriers, having exhibited the Airedale and Sealyham Terriers under his “Narration” prefix, but he has also owned and loved an Afghan Hound and a Lhasa Apso! An avid dog fancier, he has also been a working member for canine clubs and associations in Ontario and in British Columbia where he now lives. Karsten has also published numerous articles in Canadian and international canine magazines. He has also served on the Canadian Kennel Club Registration Committee and is now a member of the CKC Discipline Committee. To date he has judged dogs both in Canada and the U.S.A., as well as in Germany, New Zealand and Russia. Karsten is licensed to judge the Terrier Group, the Toy Group, and the Herding Group and Hound Groups. As a pioneer of the Cesky Terrier in Canada he has been responsible for the importation, promotion and education of a new breed to the country, leading to full recognition with the C.K.C. He has made numerous breed specific presentations to judges and dog clubs across Canada. Karsten lives in New Westminster, B.C. and shares his home with his beloved Cesky Terriers Alfie and Zita who are from his “Milenka” line. When not at home, they can be found hiking deep in the North Shore mountains when not frolicking on the beach, or exhibiting at local shows. Diane Malenfant has been involved in breeding and showing her Basset Hounds since 1967 through 1989 under the kennel prefix “Beaujangle”. Her Ch. Blue Billy Bonjangles was the Top Producing Sire in the history of the breed, holding that distinction for over 17 years. Over 75 Bassets were finished with the Beaujangle prefix. Two of her Bassets were multiple Best in Show, breeder-owner handled. Diane also bred and showed Whippets under the Beaujangle prefix and Shih Tzu under the Suling prefix. She has been judging for 34 years and judges Hounds, Toys and Sporting. She has judged in South America, Hong Kong, Australia, Finland, and Canada. Diane judged the Top Twenty at the American National Whippet Specialty in 2010 in Tucson, Arizona. DENNIS McCOY of Apex, NC enjoyed a phenomenal career as a professional handler that included handling many all breed and Specialty BIS winners (he won over 500 BIS as a handler), the topwinning Poodle and Dalmatian in breed history, seven Group wins at Westminster (including five consecutive Non-Sporting Groups from 1996-2000), and Best In Show at Westminster in 6 1991. With his partner Randy Garren, the handling and breeding kennel of Randenn finished over 1,000 champions. They have co-bred seven generations of Standard Poodles, including the 2009 Westminster Non-Sporting Group winner and the top-winning black Poodle (all varieties) in history. Mr. McCoy retired from handling and began his judging career in 2000. B.A. (Bart) Miller grew up with dogs. Having relatives who raced greyhounds, bred German Shepherds, Bulldogs, Pomeranians, and gun-dogs, dogs were simply a way of life. His first playmate, before he was able to walk, was a Doberman. Bart first competed in the conformation ring with a Boston Terrier, over 50 years ago. Since then he has bred, and titled to Championships - Great Pyrenees, Standard & Miniature Poodles and countless numbers of Siberian Huskies. He has also owned and/or shown to Championships breeds in all groups. With his wife, Patti under the Blueridge-Soma kennel prefix, they have bred/owned/ handled Siberians to somewhere well in excess of 100 All-breed Best in Shows and countless Specialties. A former police officer and financial analyst, Bart started judging in 1992 and shortly thereafter put into practice his long held believe that judges should no longer exhibit. With former residences in Las Vegas, Nevada and Alberta, Canada; Bart and his wife now live yearround on Lake Chapala in their beloved Mexico with two Rottweilers. He has judged throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hungary, Mexico, Venezuela, Japan, South Africa and Ireland. Other interests include Harley Davidson motorcycles and golf. PATRICIA MOWBRAY-MORGAN Patricia has bred, showed and finished the championships on her own dogs - Irish Setters, English Setters, Gordon Setters, Beagles and Wire Fox Terriers. Pat has a B.Sc. in Education and a Masters degree in Physical Education. She was chairman of the Physical Education Department and Dean of Women at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Pat has judged in Australia, South Africa, Japan, Mexico, Ireland, Sweden, Canada, China, and Puerto Rico. She is licensed to judge Groups 1, 2, 3, & 7. Pat resides in Massachusetts and Florida.
