Monthly Senior Center
“Newswagon” Newsletter
Friendship, community, service, education, music, nourishing meals, assistance, and much more. More than 3500
seniors live life to the fullest at the Clovis
Senior Center. The Senior Center offers
many programs and services to help older adults maintain an energetic and independent lifestyle. However, the Senior
Center is not an adult day care facility
and all participants must be able to care
for their personal needs.
Get the latest information about the
Center, hot off the presses! The monthly
newsletter and calendar will be your
best source for events at the Center. It
also includes the main course served at
lunch daily and any special events or
trips. Sign up to get it via mail, email, or
find the newsletter on our website at
www.CityofClovis.com/SeniorServices.
Funding and the Committee on Aging
The goal of the Clovis Committee on Aging is “to promote independence and self
sufficiency among the elderly and disabled adults of Clovis.” The committee’s
purpose is to discuss area senior concerns, issues, develop and receive reports concerning actual service delivery.
In 1968 there were no Senior Services
and few activities for Clovis older citizens. To remedy that, a group of seniors
and other interested persons got together and that year the Jolly Times Seniors
began with regular meetings and shared
sack lunches.
The Clovis Senior Center is a community
based, public, non-profit Multi-Purpose
Senior Service Facility. Funding for the
Clovis Senior Center is provided jointly by
The City of Clovis, Clovis Veteran’s Memorial District, the Fresno-Madera Agency
on Aging and by donations from seniors.
Contributions and legacy donations to the
center are greatly appreciated!
The group has grown and so have the
activities. The Jolly Timers meet at the
Clovis Senior Center on the second
Thursday of each month to entertain
and be entertained and enjoy each other’s company. All share a potluck lunch
at noon (bring a dish to serve six and
your own table service) and many remain to join in the afternoon activities.
