Through Word and Eucharist, we seek the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit, embracing the love of our Creator in each thought, word, and action. As humble servants of God, we remain faithful to the teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, waiting in joyful hope for our Lord’s coming. Reflexión Semanal Weekly Reflection Todo es un Regalo All is gift This second Sunday in Lent focuses on the culmination of Jesus’ sacrifice by foreshadowing it in the readings and prayers. We read from Genesis where Abraham is willing to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac because the Lord has requested it. Abraham put God first. He remembered that all he had belonged to the Lord and he withheld nothing. When God called and tested him, Abraham responded, “Here I am.” His response is further illustrated in the responsorial prayer as we can imagine Abraham saying, “O Lord, I am your servant. My vows to the Lord I will pay in the presence of all his people.” Paul’s letter to the Romans acknowledges the depth of Abraham’s love by reminding us that he was willing to do that which God did do. God gave his only begotten Son that we might live. Paul calls us to ponder that if “[God] who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how he will not also give us everything else along with him.” This is our challenge. Amid life’s difficulties, we sometimes lose focus and forget that all we have is a gift from God. Our very lives are gifts from God. Lent is purposeful in that it redirects our focus to heavenly concerns. We were reminded of the fleeting nature of life on Ash Wednesday. Mark’s gospel today recounts the Transfiguration which provides a glimpse of what Easter Sunday will bring. We look forward to the triumph of Easter and pray that “God will “nourish us inwardly by [His] word, that, with spiritual sight made pure we may rejoice to behold [His] glory, through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Collect).. Abraham pone primero a Dios. (Oración Colecta) Parish Life Baptisms Happy Anniversary Please pray for the recently baptized as they begin their journey in the Body of Christ Don & Jeannette Woodring 52 Years on February 23 Vanessa Guadalupe Aguilar Uriel Emanuel Aguilar Gabriel Jose Juarez Joe and Ardemise Mangione 50 Years on February 27 —————————————————— In Remembrance Curt and Jane Montague 25 Years on February 24 Please pray for those who have recently passed away and for their families Andrew James Mendez Alfaro ______________________________________ To list anniversary, please email [email protected] by 5pm the Friday of the week before you wish it published. Safe Environment DID YOU KNOW? Teaching children about boundaries and safe touches is healthy Teaching children about boundaries and safe touches is not sex education. There are many safety issues we teach children: bike safety, water safety, fire prevention, driver's training, etc. Personal safety programs should have age appropriate lessons that give children the skills they need to protect themselves without frightening them. Keeping children unaware of the dangers around them does not keep them safe. Predators count on children not knowing what to do.
