We are blessed to have a host of economic development partners from (MBREDC). We announced Star Life Safety, Little Spider Creations and Worksman Cycles. These new and $5.51 million in capital investment in Horry County. This year we also celebrated the ribbon cutting of Laudisi Enterprises’ new 30,000-square-foot facility in Longs. The company announced their expansion in 2014 after a decade of doing business in Horry County. The expansion resulted in the creation of 40 new jobs for the company. In September, Accent Stainless Steel broke ground on its new American headquarters. The Canadian company’s $3.1 million investment will create 65 new, high-skilled manufacturing jobs in its new 50,000-square-foot facility located at the Loris Commerce Park. With the leadership and guidance of our Board of Directors, the support of Horry County Council and all of our investors, we have placed Horry County on the economic development map. While South Carolina has quickly become one of the most business-friendly states in the U.S., Horry County continues to top the list for locations that businesses are eyeing within the Palmetto State. The quality of life, business environment and cost of doing business are among many things that set Horry Corporation (MBREDC) in November 2015 and I am excited about the limitless opportunities that every sector. While 2015 was a year of transition for the MBREDC, tremendous strides were made in our economic development initiatives. The leadership and dedication of the MBREDC Board of Directors, public and private sector investors, and particularly the MBREDC staff continued to move Horry County forward, result- ing in announcements from great companies like Worksman Cycles, Little Spider and Star Life Safety. Special thanks need to be given to Fred Richardson for stepping in as the Interim President & CEO for the MBREDC during the organization’s transition periods. His dedication to economic development for all of Horry County is inspiring and I, along with the entire MBREDC Board of Directors, thank him for his service and leadership. My favorite coach is Duke Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski. He once said, “There are five fundamental qualities that make every team great: communication, trust, collective responsibility, caring and pride. I like to think of each as a separate finger on the fist. Any one individually is important. But all of them together are unbeatable.” Economic development is a team sport and with these values and partners like you, we will be unbeatable! n Best Regards, Looking Forward, FRED RICHARDSON MBREDC Board of Directors, Chairman JOSH KAY MBREDC President & CEO www.mbredc.org www.mbredc.org n MESSAGE FROM JOSH KAY 5 MBREDC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE & BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2015 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 6 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE / BOARD OF DIRECTORS ............................
