July 24 - 30 A community-wide celebration of kids! Events for the week Sunday, July 24 Free admission at Erb and Mead Pools. Erb and Mead Pools will be open and free of charge for kids 16 and under. Erb pool features diving boards and a drop slide, and Mead pool features zero-depth entry and a water slide. Pack your beach towel and sunscreen and take advantage of this great opportunity to enjoy the pools for free! Kids-Free Hours: Erb Pool: 1 – 4:30 pm, and 6 – 8 pm. Mead Pool: 12 – 8 pm. Free “Dive-In” movie at Erb Pool. Join us for “Zoopotia” beginning at dusk (around 8:30 pm). You are encouraged to bring a raft to float on. The diving area of the pool will not be open during this time. Monday, July 25 Free day at the YMCA (good at all five Fox Cities Locations). Entrance to all Fox Cities YMCA locations will be free for all children ages 16 and under and their families. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please visit www.ymcafoxcities.org for open gym and swim hours. Free medium bucket of range balls for kids at Reid Golf Course. All day kids (ages 18 and under) can come and enjoy free range balls. Call Reid at 920-832-5926 with questions. Kids Rummage Sale. Visit Pierce Park from 9 am – noon for the 4th annual event. Youth will be on hand selling gently used toys, games, clothing and accessories. You must be registered to sell items but not to shop. Register at www.appletonparkandrec.org. Children’s Week Supports Parks & Recreation July 24 - 30 A community-wide celebration of kids! Events for the week continued. Tuesday, July 26 Try free beginner karate class at 9 am at Karate America East – W3173 Springfield Drive. Free ice skating (ages 18 & under) at the Appleton Family Ice Center – 1717 E. Witzke Blvd., 11 am – 1 pm, $3.00 skate rentals. Barlow Planetarium – Free child with paid adult for the weekday matinée family show at 2:30 pm or 3:45 pm. Special pricing for adults bringing more than one child. Matinée feature show: Secret of the Cardboard Rocket. Free Dance-O-Rama (with Unity Dance Academy staff)- 2nd floor City Center in dance studios 1 & 2 from 1 - 3 p.m. Ages 4 – 18 are welcome to come and experience a new genre of dance during this fun event. Wednesday, July 27 Try free beginner karate class at 9 am at Karate America East – W3173 Springfield Drive. Children’s Parade presented by ThedaCare. Kids 12 and under are invited to march down College Avenue in this non-motorized parade. Parade line up begins at 5:15, Parade starts at 6 pm. Registration is free (but required) at buildingforkids.org. Join us to watch “Finding Nemo” in Houdini Plaza at dusk. Funset Boulevard will be offering Free Unlimited Attractions all day! Children will have free unlimited access to the Train Ride, Bumper Cars, Carousel, Giant Kids’ Playground, New Toddler Zone and Laserforce Laser Tag for the entire day. Children receive free admission to the History Museum at the Castle with a paid adult when you mention “Children’s Week” upon paying. Join us from 11 am - 4 pm. Thursday, July 28 Barlow Planetarium – Free child with paid adult for the weekday matinée family show at 2:30 p.m. or 3:45 p.m. Special pricing for adults bringing more than one child. Matinée feature show: Secret of the Cardboard Rocket. Annual Parks and Recreation Department’s Playground Fair. This is the biggest Parks and Recreation Department special event of the year with two fun-filled days of carnival games, the trackless train, new and exciting inflatables, great food and entertainment. Visit the prize redemption center and cash in your tickets for fun prizes to take home with you. Location: Pierce Park Dates: Thursday and Friday, July 28th and 29th from 2 - 8 pm. **Friday only from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. we will open the Fair for families with children with special needs** Fee: $5 = 1 wristband* & 1 punch-card**, $2 = 1 punch-card** *The wristband allows unlimited use of all inflatable rides and attractions during the two-day fair; must have for inflatable use **One (1) punch-card allows the holder to play up to 10 carnival games; punch-card may not be used for inflatable rides/attractions Friday, July 29 Annual Appleton Parks and Recreation Playground Fair (2 - 8 pm @ Pierce Park) – see above; Playground Fair open from 12:30 - 2 pm for families of children with special needs. Free kids Safety and Bully Proof Clinic (10 -11 am) – Karate America & Gracie Jiu Jitsu - Appleton Northland location, 228 W. Northland Avenue.
