TRANSFORMING THE LIVES OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN KERN COUNTY BY MOBILIZING THE POWER AND PASSION OF WOMEN WORKING TOGETHER.
WOMEN EDUCATE
THROUGH 2015, THE WOMEN’S AND GIRLS’
FUND WILL FOCUS OUR GRANTMAKING
ON EDUCATION AND TRAINING.
HERE’S WHY…
• In 2011, the graduation rate for Kern students
was 73.3%.
• Of students graduating from high school, only
26% have the course load required for UC/CSU
admission, and only 20% of 12th graders take
the SAT exam.
• In Kern County, just 33% of all high school seniors
continue their education at a four year college,
university or community college.
WOMEN ENDOW
Each person’s gift to the Women’s and Girls’ Fund
is combined with hundreds of others in a permanent
endowment. These dollars are carefully invested to
achieve long term growth. Annually, a percentage of
the endowment’s interest and earnings are used for
grants. As the endowment grows, more dollars
become available for grants to benefit Kern’s
women and girls.
WOMEN EMPOWER
THROUGH OUR GRANTMAKING, WOMEN’S
AND GIRLS’ FUND DONORS ARE
PHILANTHROPISTS AND ADVOCATES OF
POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE IN KERN COUNTY.

Our grant committee is composed of donors,
community representatives and female students.
Each year we issue grant guidelines and invite
applications from local nonprofit charitable
organizations. Together, we evaluate these requests
alongside community research. We work by
consensus and make thoughtful decisions that result
in grants that focus on root causes and long-term
solutions to improve the lives of Kern’s women
and girls.

Help us build to a million and create $50,000
in community grants, each and every year.
Your gift of $1,000 today will generate approximately
$50 per year to be used for annual grantmaking
forever. Combined with the hundreds of other donors
just like you, your donation builds the endowment
and delivers a lasting gift to the community for
generations to come.
Since 2008, grants have totaled $20,000 or more
each year. Grants have benefited women and girls
from Frazier Park to Delano, and from Taft to
Lake Isabella.
Your gift to the Women’s and Girls’ Fund will
make a lasting impact.
