SPECIFICATION LNG
∗ Natural gas is composed primarily of methane, with varying
elements of ethane, propane, butane and the progressively
heavier hydrocarbons. Small quantities of nitrogen, oxygen,
carbon dioxide, sulphur compounds and water may also be
found. Transforming natural gas into LNG is a complicated
process. Its fundamental aim is to create a product that is noncorrosive and non-toxic, inhibits the formation of liquids within
transportation infrastructure and satisfies the expectations of
end users in relation to quality specifications. In simple terms
natural gas that comes to the liquefaction plant from a
production source is treated to remove impurities before being
cooled to a temperature of -161°C (normal boiling point)

∗ Ex second reporting to Central Rhine Commission (CCR)
 No failure in LNG system and no need for any modification.
 No leakage in LNG Tank and gas system.
 Crew tested in a two week cycle for leakage with soap.
 The Barge sails on a mixture of 81 % LNG + 19 % Gasoil
 Bunkering LNG is done by truck.
 Reduction of fuel costs is abt. 25 % to similar barge.
 Crew training LNG ( theoretical + practical)

∗ The market for liquefied natural gas is emerging. The
ancient Greeks were right to strongly believe in the
four elements. LNG is in fact nothing more than
ancient history!
