About Brazil
Brazil is full of superlatives. With some of the most beatiful beaches of the Planet, the
largest country of South America is home to the biggest rain forest and the second
largest waterfalls of the world. All great reasons to visit a country which is also responsible for the most popular and cherful Carnival of the Earth.
Apart from this, Brazil still charms all types of tourists from all over the globe with its
climate, rich wildlife, history, art, gastronomy and, of course, the joy of its people.
From North to South, Brazil always have a perfect destination either for business or
leisure visitors.
Language – In Brazil, the official language is portuguese. A small part of the
population also speak indian, european or asian languages.
Currency – The brazilian monetary unit is the Real (R$). Notes are: R$ 2
(two reais), R$ 5 (five reais), R$ 10 (ten reais), R$ 20 (twenty reais), R$ 50 (fifty
reais) and R$ 100 (a hundred reais). There are also coins for R$ 1 (one real),
R$ 0,50 (fifty cents), R$ 0,25 (twenty-five cents), R$ 0,10 (ten cents), R$ 0,05
(five cents) and R$ 0,01 (one cent).
Time Zone – Because of its vast territory, Brazil has different time zones depending on the region. The most popular destinations normally lie within the
brazilian standard time zone though, three hours behind Greenwich Time.
Seasons of the Year – Spring (22 September to 21 December) | Summer
(22 December to 21 March) | Autumm (22 March to 21 June) | Winter (22
June to 21 September).
Distances – Brazil is a large country, so travelling from one city to another
can take a while. Always check the distance between the destinations you will
visit before buying your tickets or making hotel reservations.
Transportation – The fastest and most effective way of getting around Brazil
is by air, but you can travel around the country by bus or car (depeding on
distances and your time), which can be inexpensive. Train is not a viable option for travelling around Brazil, but there are lovely scenic rail routes in some
regions.
Tipping – Brazilians do not normally tip. Many restaurants and hotels already
include a “service charge” to the bill (around 10% of the total amount), but
clients do not have to pay it.
