TFIG1 ! Thermofoil Installation Guide Your step-by-step guide to the perfect installation Stock no 5009 Stock no 5259 Please ensure you have read and fully understood this guide before installation! TFIG1 Installation: Thermofoil THERMOSTAT THERMOSTAT 1 ! 2 ! Step 1: Plan your installation & layout Step 2: Lay insulation and install Conduit It is important to plan out your installation to ensure minimal wastage and achieve a more economical result. Draw a plan of your room and mark out the position of Thermofoil Matting, Marshalling Box, RCD, Thermostat, Thermostat back box and Sensor Probe/Conduit. Before installation always check the subfloor has adequate thermal insulation. This is particularly important where Thermofoil is the primary heat source. When planning, take into account that Thermofoil needs to be laid adjacent to each other and across the width of your room. Also for stability it is also important to lay Thermofoil at a 90 degree angle to your insulation and floor finish. Substrate Breakdown Floor Finish Vapour Barrier (5415) If inadequate insulation is in place then Thermofoil should be laid over Econoboard (6014) to ensure economical operation. Before laying Econoboard check your substrate is level and secure. If floor boards are absent, 50mm Econoboard (6150) should be used. Lay the Conduit onto the insulation, measure, and make a groove for the Conduit to lay in. The recess should be deep enough so it lays flush with the top on the insulation board. Run the Conduit inside the wall cavity and into your Thermostat (5259) back box. Feed Sensor Probe into Conduit as part of Thermostat installation process. Consult relevant installation guide for more information. Thermofoil Rigid Insulation Board (5400) or Econoboard (6014) Timber substrate PRO TIP The Sensor Probe is supplied with 2m of connection cable. The ideal thermostat height is 1.3m from the floor. This will ensure your sensor connection cable can be connected easily. The Sensor Probe needs to be located in a representative area of floor that cannot be covered by furniture. Lay Thermofoil AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE to your insulation and floor finish ! CONDUIT & SENSOR PROBE SHOULD BE LAID UNDER THERMOFOIL IN THE AREA RECEIVING THE MOST EVEN HEAT ! All items of furniture placed in the heated area should be on legs or bun feet to ensure that an air gap is maintained If you have any questions or queries regarding this product, or any other products or services Call our technical helpline for free on 0800 019 5899 TFIG1 Installation: Thermofoil 3 4 ! Step 3: Lay Thermofoil and connect to an RCD Step 4: Apply Vapour Barrier & floor finish Ensure all electrical supply to has been switched off prior to installation. Tape down Thermofoil and all connecting wires to keep them secure. Run connecting wires to an accessible Marshalling box or connection point mounted in the wall or in a cupboard. ELEMENTS MUST BE INSTALLED IN PARALLEL. The complete Thermofoil heating installation should be covered with a 500g Vapour Barrier (5415) and the engineered or laminate floor should be laid as specified by the manufacturer, at a 90 degree angle to Thermofoil. Thermofoil Mat After care: Once finished make sure all relevant contractors, in particular bathroom and kitchen fitters know that electrical underfloor heating is installed. This will reduce damage risk. It is also important that adequate air circulation is maintained at the surface of the floor. All items of furniture placed in the heated area should be on legs or bun feet. This will ensure that an air gap is maintained and the system does not over heat. Use of mechanical floor fixings over the heating is prohibited.
