A newborn by museum standards, the Rufus Porter Museum and Cultural Heritage Center opened in 2005. In September 2004, Julie and Carl Lindberg purchased a two-acre property at 67 N. High Street in Bridgton, Maine, with the intention to preserve the Rufus Porter murals in the house and create a museum of his work. The Cultural Heritage Center offered its inaugural series of workshops this past July to continue the tradition of Rufus Porter. Museum staff intends to offer ongoing workshops as well as purchase fifteen Rufus Porter murals—known as the Westwood Murals—removed from the Dr. Francis Howe home in Westwood, Mass., in 1965. What’s especially keen about this stamp line is that each stamp attaches to a resuable acrylic stamp block, so not only can you see precisely where you’re stamping, you need only one acrylic block for an entire set of stamps. Shown are the stamp products Natalee and Hot Cocoa.
