Lake Management Services, L.P. of Sugar Land has been engaged to design and maintain the seven lakes within Cane Island’s first phase and the three others planned for the community’s second phase. Each stocked lake will include an elegant fountain or impressive geyser system to circulate and aerate water while creating attractive water features throughout the community. “Our goal is to design Cane Island’s lake system to ensure water quality, a balanced aquatic ecosystem and a maximum number of homes with fountain views,” according to Mac McCune, president of Lake Management Services. Cane Island’s signature water feature at the community’s entry will feature seven boomer jets spraying water approximately 28-30 feet high to create an inspiring display along the community’s point of arrival. The waterways also serve as detention ponds to capture run off rainwater, McCune adds. The build-out of Cane Island’s waterways is part of the Katy master-planned community’s first phase to including the opening of 13 model homes and Amenity Village housing a Conservatory for events, fully-equipped fitness center, yoga studio and multi-purpose room with commercial kitchen. Both Trendmaker Homes and Village Builders held events for those who had registered on the VIP Interest List, some of which had been waiting for over two years. Over a hundred families attended those events to view available floorplans, lots and pricing, and more than 50 appointments were scheduled to purchase a home. “We’ve waited a long time for this type of product in Clear Lake City”, says John Philips, who was third in line despite showing up at the venue the night before. “I’m tired, but I am excited that my family will be among the first residents at The Reserve at Clear Lake City.” Philips is not alone. Some interested homebuyers arrived as early as 8pm the evening before. Since announcing plans to develop the site, interest in the community has grown exponentially. Many Clear Lake residents, who want to stay in the area, have had limited opportunities to purchase a new home. The Reserve at Clear Lake City is the first new home development in the area in nearly twenty years. “We’ve been very excited about this community for a while,” said Trendmaker president, Will Holder. “The response has been extraordinary and like nothing I’ve seen in my 35 years of homebuilding. Lining up to purchase a home in Houston is unprecedented.” The Reserve at Clear Lake City is being developed by Trendmaker Development and phase one will offer 80’ and 70’ homesites, as well as patio homes. Model homes for the community are expected to open in late-Spring 2015. For more information on the development, please visit www. reserveclearlake. com. Friendswood Development Co. Jeff Morris with RE/MAX The Woodlands and Spring sold the most homes in Woodforest, the third year he has led in community new-home sales. His achievement was closely followed by Blake Wilcox/ Blake Wilcox Properties, who has become one of the community’s greatest champions since moving there in 2013. “Our friends see how much we like it here and want to be part of it, too,” said Wilcox who has sold to several friends and previous neighbors. “I even had a friend who was going to build in a nearby development come to a party at my house and decide to build in Woodforest instead.” Wilcox said it’s the community’s family-friendly atmosphere, welcoming neighbors and proximity to Woodforest Golf Club that has resonated with his buyers. “Our neighbors are the best part about living in Woodforest,” he said. “We are constantly having block parties.” Wilcox and Morris accounted for more than $6 million in new-home sales in Woodforest during 2014. Other Realtors recognized for multiple sales in the community include David Flory with RE/MAX Professional Group and Brian Mathieson with Keller Williams Realty The Woodlands and Magnolia. The firm selling the most new homes in Woodforest last year was Keller Williams Realty The Woodlands and Magnolia, with 67 sales. RE/MAX The Woodlands and Spring ranked No. 2 among Woodforest’s top-selling real estate offices, with 35 sales. “Realtors contributed heavily to our success in 2014, assisting in 333 new-home sales in Woodforest last year,” said Virgil Yoakum, general manager of Woodforest. “Without their belief in Woodforest, we would not have been able to be listed among the nation’s 20 top-selling masterplanned communities for a third consecutive year.” Nineteen builders currently offer homes priced from the $200,000s to the millions in Woodforest.
