INSTALLATION PROCESS DIRECT SUPPLIER 1. PREPARING FOUNDATIONS Preparing foundations, drilling and inserting anchors (build in anchors are added within filling with concrete). 2. STRETCHING THE MEMBRANE During stretching and joining membrane additional help from local people is needed (usually 20-25), who are provided by investor. Pallets with membrane are placed on the right position by crane or lift fork. Before placing doors on spot, foundations for them must be ready. INSTALLATION PROCESS DIRECT SUPPLIER 3. PLACING HEATING-INFLATION UNIT Before placing heating-inflation unit on the spot, foundations for them must be ready with all necessary electric cables and pipes for fuel or gas. 4. ANCORAGING MEMBRANE Anchoring system depends on the type (seasonal or permanent) and on the size of air dome. Pipes or L bars are usually used for fixing the membrane. Inflating takes 20-50 min depending of the size of the structure. 6. INSTALING LIGHTING To install direct lights dome must be deflated, that means procedure depends on all the conditions as for inflating of the dome. Emergency unit automatically starts when the pressure inside the dome is low, the main power is interrupted, in high wind speeds. The pre-calibrated factory operating pressure is ca. 200 Pa or according to specific user requested. When the pressure drops below of security limit the electric motor become operational. Diesel engine intervenes only when the electricity fails. Our system of double engine diesel and electric providers a substantial savings – 50% of energy the electric operational system under normal atmospheric conditions windless, snow, heating can maintain the pressure inside the dome instead of the main generators. ENERGY SAVING OPTIONS WIND SPEED DETECTION SYSTEM Our wind speed detection system is the most advanced automatic system available. It uses modern computerized controls for interior pressure, heating and monitoring. The emergency unit is switched on by the system in case of strong wing in order to maintain the right pressure inside the air dome. AIR GENERATORS WITH MODULATING SYSTEM The control system proportionally decreases or increases burner’s heat output as the appliance temperature approaches the set point. (In non-modulating system there is only one firing rate here: on or off and it fires at its maximum rate whenever the burner is on.) Intellergy enables constant real-time supervision of the air domes activity and vital technical data with alarming. This DUOL high-tech system is connected to various sensors and relays which are gathered in the main unit and from there transferred through LAN internet cable or GPRS signal to the internet server. Data is there processed, logged and displayed in a different graphs and tables. For each data an alarm can be adjusted to inform the air domes user with SMS on mobile phone. In this way the customer has total surveillance over the air domes pressure, temperature, lighting, alarms … For some selected parameters remote managing can also be adjusted (lighting, heating...). Duol expanded double membrane system is innovative solution which greatly reduce energy consumption. It is designed for extreme climate conditions, for temperature range from -70 to +70 Degrees. Facts are confirmed in a practice, too. DUOL has installed domes of own production from artic circle to the desert. EXPANDED DOUBLE SYSTEM DUOL expanded air pockets between outer and inner fabric material (approx. 70 cm in center of pocket) provide 2-3 times better thermal insulation compared to other double membrane solutions. The depth and design of Duol expanded air pockets are carefully designed to avoid air convection within air pocket, because bigger air pockets increase heat transfer through natural convection. With Duol innovative solution we have succeed to eliminate air convection and take advantages of better insulation. With Duol expanded double membrane there is no more need for triple, quadruple… membrane systems. Triple, quadruple systems in fact increase the weight of air dome, which in turns require more operational energy. Also, our use of double membrane without thermal bridge reduce the areas that heat can escape. EXPANDED DOUBLE SYSTEM DUOL standard double membrane system provides thermal insulation of 3.05 W/m2K (measured at Finnish Research Institute VTT), while improved double membrane system provides thermal insulation down to 1.89 W/m2K (measured by independent company Komplast d.o.o.). UV RESISTANCE Standard Duol membranes are UV resistant, but with use of special lacquering finish like Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) or Titanium dioxide (TiO²) this resistance is even better, what increases materials quality and lifetime. SELF-CLEANING Duol membrane is coated with lacquering finish which is able to clean itself autonomously. Due to its self cleaning characteristics the membrane is absolutely maintenance free. Thanks to DUOL expanded double membrane system, the DUOL domes are very rigid and vandalism resistant. In case of any damage on the outer membrane, the inner membrane still hold the proper air tightness and consequently pressure – air dome stability. SNOW The shape of the air dome, which is designed depending of its size and considering the weather conditions of its destination, totally flat surface and lacquering finishes, ensure that the snow slides form the air dome. CONDENSATION Thanks to excellent insulation, achieved by DUOL expanded double membrane system, there is no condensation phenomenon inside the air dome. Condensation is on inner side of the membrane and in between all layers. ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT Lightweight and durable, Duol fabrics are also 100% recyclable. SPACEDOMETM There are many types of materials that reduce heat gain and heat loss. Some materials provide greater resistance than others, depending on the mode of heat transfer: convection, conduction, or radiation. Conduction is the transfer of heat between substances that are in direct contact with each other. Radiation is contact of electromagnetic waves (sun light) with an object. Convection is the up and down movement of gases and liquids cased by heat transfer. In 2011 Duol developed a new innovative insulate system – SpaceDomeTM. SpaceDomeTM is made from aerospace materials which technology experts consider to be one of best insulation materials ever invented, efficiently reducing al three types of heat transfer. We enhance all elements (membrane, air generators, anchoring system…) to withstand extremely low temperatures with strong winds and heavy snow. DUOL IN EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS Duol advanced technology enables installing air domes in extreme weather conditions without any cables. In fact only one Duol air dome is supported with cables. This air dome is installed in Kamchatka in far east of Russia, where winds quite often reach speed more than 50 m/s, alongside with heavy snow. For other climate zone with our technology there is no need for cable support. LOOS OF TRANSLUCANY Duol fabric has self cleaning characteristics and is absolutely maintenance free. Cable net system is great obstacle for self cleaning mechanism. Cables on the outer side of the membrane prevent the dirt, organics microorganism… from sliding of the surface. Dirt cannot be totally removed, therefore translucency is reduced what represents great costs for the client. RIGIDITY Thanks to DUOL expanded double membrane system, the DUOL domes are very rigid and vandalism resistant. In case of any damage on the outer membrane, the inner membrane still hold the proper air tightness and consequently pressure – air dome stability. Compared to cable net system, where in case of any membrane damage there are big air losses and the structure stability is jeopardized. DUOL DOUBLE MEMBRANE SYSTEM VS CABLE NET SYSTEM SNOW Duol air dome has totally flat surface and lacquering finishes, which ensure that the snow slides form the air dome. Compared to cable net system, where cables on the outer side of the membrane prevent the snow from sliding of the surface, which lead to the snow collection and the whole structure is in a big danger to collapse. SEASONAL INSTALLATION / DISMANTLING As two membranes are welded together, the installation process is extreme fast. Membrane should only to be spread, connected and anchored and the erection of the dome can be made. This operation can take only a few hours. The same is in seasonal dismantling. As the cable net system requires spreading of different layers, connecting them and afterwards installation of metal net, the installation/dismantling process in significantly longer and costs are higher. INTERNAL PRESSURE The pressure kept in the DUOL domes is minimal, from 150-250 Pa in normal situations, what ensures perfect stability in all weather conditions and less energy consumption. Compared to cable net system, which due to its weight requires much bigger internal pressure (250-400Pa) which leads to much bigger electric energy consumption. AIR DOME ELEMENTS LIGHTING SYSTEM Duol high intensity metal halide lightning systems utilize the highly efficient optical reflectors to provide maximum lighting uniformly on the playing surface. The inner ambient of the dome is lighted by proper quantity of the halogen lamps in two different modes: directly or indirectly. At direct lighting the lamps are mounted on the membrane to give light on the sports field directly, at indirect lighting the lamps are installed on the metal poles and light up. LIGHTING SYSTEM In order to maximize the amount of light in the dome, we design our lighting system to reflect off of the curved dome surfaces and bounce back to the floor. The key is the highly reflective fabric liner which was specially formulated for our need of reflectivity. The rings with peg crossed by a metal tube or grounding anchor with metal tube are used for temporary assembling – seasonal use of the dome. For permanent assembling the anchoring is done by metal profiles. With DUOL advanced anchorage system seepage of water into the structure at the base from snow and rain is minimized. Air loss around the base perimeter is greatly reduced providing savings on inflation. ANCHORING SYSTEM The membrane can be anchored in the concrete beam also with use of ground anchors, directly into existing ground. SECTIONAL RECONNECTION For large air structures and many seasonal structures, it is desirable to limit the size of a single section of the fabric envelope. A series of long aluminum or wooden bars create an air and water tight flexible seal that is covered by heavy duty fabric to eliminate leaks. REVOLVING DOOR One unique feature of air structures is their doors which are specifically designed for the continuous positive pressure environment. There are three main types of doors used in air structures: Revolving Doors for normal entry into the dome, Pedestrian Doors and Emergency Exit Doors. Revolving Doors must be specially built to withstand the building pressure pushing in both directions on the panels without fatigue failure. Brush seals minimize air losses while maintaining smooth operation. The doors include large glass panels to see other users, and the housing is made from maintenance free aluminum. PEDESTRIAN DOOR Pedestrian Doors are used for wheelchair access, for hand-truck deliveries and they are suitable as entrance for disabled people. Two doors are built in a frame with a short connecting tunnel creating an airlock system, thereby maintaining the building pressure and minimizing air loss. The frame and doors are also built from aluminum for long life and include vision panels for safety. EMERGENCY DOOR The primary purpose of emergency door is to give an emergency means of egress. Standard dimensions are 143cm x 220cm. The frame and the door leaf are made by metal construction. The door leaf has small circle window. TRANSPORT TUNNEL Large equipment such as trucks can be brought into air structures by the use of a transport tunnel. Two large overhead doors at each end of the tunnel are interlocked so that only one door may be open at a time. Transport tunnels use high strength doors and are available with remote control switches and key locks. The roof of metal construction is covered by polyester fabric coated with PVC foil. Walls of the tunnel are closed by metal sheets. WINDOWS Although the air structure fabric is translucent, it is not transparent. Even so, windows are an optional feature.
