To All NZDRA Members & Supporters
The Board of NZDRA have been notified today (13th March) that Motorsport
New Zealand will not renew the delegation of Drag Racing to NZDRA because
of the current issues with two tracks joining another foreign sanctioning body.
Motorsport along with the four Drag Racing promoters have organised a take
over of our sport for no other reason than the lack of promoter control on the
Board of NZDRA.
Without the delegated authority what will happen to NZDRA? This is up to
you.
We do not need the authority to control our sport, we need you the racer.
Speedway New Zealand have never been a member of Motorsport New
Zealand.
NZ Motorcycle union also are not members of Motorsport NZ.
Pegasus Bay Drag Racing Club and Meremere Dragway Incorporated have
been operating for the past 12 months without Motorsport membership and out
of the FIA charter. We would prefer the charter connection but it is not
necessary to operate our sport.
Why have Motorsport asked two entities who currently do not have tracks to
accept Motorsport NZ control? What of the three other tracks which are
currently running events under NZDRA not been contacted? Have they asked
you the racer for input? Fair representation - we think not!
Racers in the past have not been asked to refrain from racing at the two
breakaway venues while issues where attempted to be resolved, but it is time to
make a stand for what you believe to be in the best interests of the sport long
term.
We need you our members and all NZDRA supporters to send a clear message
to Motorsport New Zealand that their interference within our sport is not
wanted.
