Chrysler Group LLC's leadership team met with the Chrysler Minority
Dealers Association ("CMDA") at NADA in San Francisco where we had
an open exchange. Ralph Gilles, President & CEO - Dodge Car Brand &
Sr. Vice President of Design, was the key note speaker at the CMDA
Friday night dinner. His enthusiasm and passion was evident as he
shared his vision for the brands going forward. In addition, Pete Grady,
Vice President of Dealer Network & Fleet and other key Chrysler
Executives were present on Saturday morning for an executive panel
discussion.
Network Diversity & Dealer Development is very pleased that we were
able to provide an opportunity for CMDA and key Chrysler Executives to
engage in a fruitful discussion regarding the direction of the Brands,
Advertising, Corporate Identity changes, New Products for 2011-2012
and Industry Outlook Projections. Each executive took take a few
minutes to provide a brief update on their functional area of the company
and the balance of the time was for open Q & A. This was an excellent
opportunity to engage key Chrysler Executives in a small informal setting.

Chrysler Group
sales up 13%
Chrysler Group posted a 13
percent rise in vehicle sales in
February, driven by its Jeep®
brand, Ram pickups and a new
mid-size sedan, MarketWatch
reported.
It was the 11th consecutive
month Chrysler Group reported
overall growth from prior-year
levels, the Dow Jones news
service said.
Truck sales jumped 32 percent while car sales decreased
31percent, Dow Jones reported. Sales grew 23 percent for
the Jeep brand, the news service said.
Chrysler Group sold 95,102
units in the month, up from
84,449 in February of 2010, the
article said. Retail sales were
“up substantially in February,
proof positive that the 16 allnew or significantly-refreshed
models we launched during
2010 are resonating with consumers,” said Fred Diaz, Lead
Executive for U.S. sales, MarketWatch reported.
The Chrysler brand is lagging the company’s other
brands because two of its key
models -- the 200 mid-sized
sedan and 300 large sedan -have not reached full volumes
yet in dealerships, Automotive
News reported.
Jesse Toprak, analyst for
TrueCar.com, said, “I think the
200 is going to be a boost to
them in coming months, but we
really haven’t seen the full impact from that model in February,” Automotive News reported.
Chrysler 300 grows up, still fun to drive
Chrysler’s new flagship sedan, the 300, is “more mature,
more stately, more dramatic –
and fun to drive,” declares a
Detroit News headline.
“This is the car that proves
Detroit knows what luxury cars
should look like: refined,”
wrote reviewer Scott Burgess.
He also said the 300 proves
Detroit knows what it should
feel like, describing the V-8 as
a “fantastic engine” and noting
the new suspension and stiff
body keep the car on just
about any line.
Motor Trend said that the
300C “moves forward like a
force of nature--quickly but
always smooth and never hurried.”
“There’s an almost RollsRoyce-like surge of power that
masks how fast you’re actually
C
going,” Motor Trend said.
The Detroit News said the
300 contains “all the features
luxury consumers want,” including back-up camera and
hands-free phone and a 506watt Alpine stereo with nine
speakers. The reviewer also
described the next-generation
UConnect system as easy to
use and intuitive.
In a Motor Trend comparison against the Hyundai Genesis, the Chrysler 300 comes
out on top. “The 300C is not a
subtle car,” the magazine said.
“If its sheer size doesn’t get
your attention, the bold,
shameless styling and rumbling V-8 will demand it.”
Compared to the Hyundai,
the 300 looks better, rides better, has more gadgets and a
lower starting price, Motor
Trend said.

Revised Compass has purpose, refinement
Fiat 500 concept
unveiled in Geneva
Fiat unveiled a racy concept
version of its 500 subcompact
called the Coupé Zagato at the
Geneva Motor Show, Wall
Street Journal website reports.
WSJ.com said the car is an
homage to a 1950s Fiat model
that was penned by the famous
Zagato design house and saw
a lot of action on the race track.
“Unfortunately just a concept
(for the time being anyway), the
500 Coupé Zagato is actually a
throwback to a similar
coachbuilding joint-effort from
the 1950s,” Autoblog said. “The
sleeker bodywork features
Zagato's trademark doublebubble roof and almondshaped side glass, lacquered in
special three-layer Pop Yellow
paintjob.”
The Journal story notes that
Fiat is targeting the Zagato
concept at “young and dynamic” men, with racy-looking exterior elements such as chrome
accents, perforated brake discs
and low-profile 17-inch tires.
The
Jeep ®
brand has pointed its Compass
on
a
higher
course with trailrated
ability,
sturdy new styling and muchimproved interior
materials,
the
San Fernando
Sun reported.
After viewing the new Compass head-on, you could be
forgiven for confusing it with
the stouter Grand Cherokee,
the San Jose Mercury News
reported. From the windshield
forward, the Compass is “a
totally new rig and a very attractive one to boot,” the newspaper said. The vertical grille
slots are adorned with “tasteful
chrome surrounds” and the
projector-style headlights
“literally reflect a more upscale
image,” the San Jose Mercury
News said.
Those who don’t plan on
playing in the mud can roll with
a front-wheel drive Compass,
the newspaper reported. But
for coping with all-weather and
bad-road scenarios, “you'll
need to order Freedom Drive I.
With it, you can lock up all four
wheels in drive mode for maximum traction,” the Mercury
News said.
In addition, the San Jose
Mercury News reported, the
more adventurous can now
add the Freedom Drive II package (previously exclusive to the
Jeep Patriot), which includes a
driver-selectable low-range
gear, all-terrain tires, protective
skid plates and a beefier suspension setup that’s designed
for more severe off-trail use.
The automaker is skilled at
carving out inventive storage
areas, and the Compass is
filled with small, handy places
to stash stuff, the San Fernando Sun said.
Chrysler, Lancia strengthen global reach
For those wondering why the Chrysler 300 is wearing a Lancia
Thema badge at the Geneva Motor Show, NYTimes.com explains
that Lancia’s newest products introduced for the European market
are based on Chrysler models.
Fiat’s efforts to relaunch its Lancia brand is part of a broader push
by Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat and Chrysler Group, to pool its
car portfolio with Chrysler’s and increase sales in Europe, The Financial Times explains. At the Geneva Motor Show, Lancia unveiled
three larger cars that are rebadged Chrysler vehicles, the story said.
Olivier Francois, who leads both the Lancia and Chrysler brands,
said the two brands share the same DNA, The Financial Times said.
A revamped Lancia sales network will launch in Europe this summer, including former Chrysler dealers, The Financial Times said.
Jeep Brand CEO Mike Manley said the revamped dealer network
will also help the Jeep brand regain market share in Europe, Bloomberg reported.
