The new spirit of skiing…
Neiges de Culture or “In the know in the snow” is an
original concept combining the joys of skiing with the
pleasures of culture. Whether you are on your own or
with friends, come and discover fun and interesting
runs. Learn about the history of the valley and mountain tales on the pistes for some culture on skis! With
an original backdrop as the stage, these events sneak
into the gondolas, climb on to the peaks and settle on
the snowy slopes.
“In the Know In the Snow” is designed and produced
by Isabelle de Beaufort, an expert in successful mazes
and unexpected paths, and can be visited.
SCV is committed to an innovative approach and has
given her carte blanche with this project.
The Nomad Camp : Exhibitions and stories
take you on the trail of Kyrgyz, Nenets, Sami and Inuit
people. Start at the top Myrtilles Slope
Vauban and the Secret Manuscript :
Pure sensation. These secured slopes are regularly
left (untouched) Good level recommended (black run).

Off piste skiing… Be prepared!
As soon as you leave the way marked slopes an DVA
(Détecteurs de Victimes in Avalanche) is required.
To practice using an DVA, find the beacons buried in
the snow. Ski patrollers close by can start you off if
necessary. Free access, Top of the «Bachas» chairlift (Monêtier). Training offered every Sunday with an
ESF Instructor-guide from Monêtier during the school
holidays at 12.00 in February. Info at ESF Monêtier

Situated throughout the ski area allow you to check
your device is working correctly.
A few tips before you leave
• Tell at least one person where you intend going.
Wear an “ARVA”, a shovel and probe are essential.
• Check the weather forecast and any snow and
avalanche warnings
• Don’t go if the conditions aren’t right
(risk of avalanche).
• Never go off piste alone. Know to turn back.
• Don’t follow other tracks.
Point them down to Briançon and follow this trail
straight to winter 1692. Vauban has just arrived in haste
to fortify the town which is being threatened by the
Savoyards. Your mission is to find his famous “Treaty
for the defence of Strongholds”. Puzzles, exhibitions
and games await in the
Chioné huts which mark out the 7 stages of this treasure hunt. Start at the top of the Prorel gondola lift.
Plot against Caesar It’s 58BC and Caesar is
preparing to cross the Serre Chevalier valley.
But some tribes are fighting against the invader. Your
mission : help young Otzix who has stolen the map of
Roman roads. Can you solve the puzzles in the Chioné
huts and make your way to Campus Stabatio where
new activities await for young and old alike? Start at
Monêtier, at the Eychauda chairlift
Tell me Why : At last some answers to satisfy
the insatiable curiosity of young and old.
Why is snow white? Why does it snow on the mountains? Seven educational and fun stops answer all the
questions asked by inquisitive children about the world
of mountains. In the “Tell me Why” village an exhibition called “Une montagne d’albums” tells you all
about winter sports as seen by comic strips and books
for children. Start Villeneuve.
Enliven all your senses with other activities on offer
: download the “Histoires en pente”, stories of the
mountains, with Luc Alphand and Raymond Renaud.
