The dinner service is top of the gift list so now is the time to upgrade your set. We have put together this handy little guide to give you an idea of what tableware you’ll need when you tie-the-knot. We’re really proud that couples have been choosing Denby for years and we think it’s down to the way Denby is designed and crafted – it’s beautiful enough for your dinner parties but tough enough to be used and enjoyed everyday. Another nice thing about choosing Denby tableware is our ‘Denby For Life Promise’ which we think (even if we do say so ourselves) is a rather good service. Full details can be found on page 14-15 along with a huge plate of seafood spaghetti. Warning: Brochure contains photos of irresistible food which could cause serious stomach rumbles. Visit www.denbybrides.co.uk for an online guide to all Denby ranges. Quality and durability. We have been making pottery at Denby for almost 200 years and owe much of our present success to the skills of earlier generations of craftsmen. Importantly, Denby has not lost sight of the reasons for its popularity as generations have grown to expect leading designs combined with a tradition of quality that lasts and lasts. Style and design. Denby has oodles of tableware to choose from in contemporary and traditional styles and shapes, making it great for all occasions, whether it’s dinner with the in-laws or Friday nights in front of the TV. This is because Denby is designed with real food and real people in mind. With such a wide choice of colours, patterns and unique glazes you can create the perfect match for you and your home. It’s no wonder that Denby is a popular choice with brides-to-be. Our Caramel Stripes ricebowl. bowl is a very good rice ted It has actually been tes ng thi at gre the t Bu . with rice eals, is you can use it for cer for for salads, for soup, or e els ing yth an ch mu pretty that needs a bowl. Caramel Stripes p32 Proud to announce. Denby is smashing stuff, our tableware is much harder to crack than other tableware. That’s because we’ve perfected our 5000 glazes to be harder than steel. Great for parties, not so good for Greek weddings. Azure Coast p33 We like tests (just not maths ones). We test all our tableware in ovens, microwaves, dishwashers and freezers again and again. We even make sure everything passes test number 154 (that’s the ‘nice and comfy to hold’ test). www.denbybrides.co.uk Our handmade glassware is beautifully elegant, but also made with the toughness you’d expect from Denby. So if there happens to be a little too much celebrating going on, you can be sure it’ll withstand a few knocks and bumps. Glassware p42-43 Everyone loves Champa gne, which is why we’ve made our champagne flutes extra generous in size. Well, we think if you have something to celebrate then you should celebrate it proper ly. Simple contemporary styling with discerning details which makes whatever you serve look stunning. (We think you’ll rather like it). China that lasts (and las ts). China by Denby has all the elegance of china, but wit h the toughness of Denby. You can use it everyday (for when frie nds come round) but also for specia l stuff (for when the in-laws com e round). 10 China by Denby p31 Serve p29 Choosing your tableware can be pretty tricky, with all kinds of styles, colours and materials available. We’ve given you a helping hand with our ‘guide to choosing’ and are proud to tell you that every piece of Denby is dishwasher safe, microwave safe, oven safe* and freezer safe. Being tough stuff, we’re pretty certain it’s absent-minded husband safe too. Find the complete guide to all our products at the back of the brochure, or at www.denbybrides.co.uk 12 Linen p40 *China by Denby (p31) is safe to heat in an oven gradually to 100ºC, but not above this temperature. All of our other ranges can be used confidently in the oven as high as you like. Why do our saucers have room for biscuits? Do we really need to spell it out? Because a life without biscuits isn’t worth living. China by Denby p31 Stoneware clay is very strong. It is fully vitrified (which means the surface is made glassy and non-porous) this gives it strength, durability and chip resistance. In fact Denby stoneware is so strong that four upturned mugs can withold the weight of a double decker bus (wowser). Denby stoneware is unique because we have over 5000 beautiful glazes, each one with its very own secret recipe. Similar in strength to stoneware, porcelain has a more translucent body and is naturally a lovely blue-white colour. Our stunning porcelain ranges (White by Denby, White Trace, White Squares and Serve) are beautifully simple, very stylish and make any food look fantastic. Bone china has a pure white translucency and is also fully vitrified, which makes it as tough as our stoneware in terms of strength, durability and chip resistance. Bone china doesn’t have to conjure up visions of your Granny’s dusty dresser. Our China by Denby range with sleek contemporary shapes and gourmet items (such as noodle bowls and extra large plates and pasta bowls) brings china bang up to date. Earthenware clay has a porous ceramic body so is less strong and less tough than other materials. Denby don’t do earthenware. 13 14 Imperial Blue p37 Our tableware lasts a long time, now our commitment to you does too. The ‘Denby For Life Promise’ helps you get more from your Denby. Our plates have this amazing device known as a ‘gravy/custard/soup rim’. It helps hold sauces onto the plate instead of spilling on to that lovely skirt you’ve just bought. Azure p33 Catch up on wedding plans and indulge in a seriously lazy lunch. Good cooking is about what feels right. It isn’t about measuring the life out of your ingredients. Denby tableware is made for real food, not just for show. Jet Stripes p35 19 Serve is a range of tableware that’s not just designed for tables. It’s made for passing around, sharing and because it’s made from extra-tough porcelain, throwing in the air when we win The Eurovision Song Contest. Gourmet is available in all our favourite ranges. Some of our most popular ranges now feature ‘Gourmet’ pieces, they are extra large for dramatic effect. Use them as presentation plates, for decorative food or massive hungry husband portions. 20 Jet Gourmet p34 Oooooh fancy that. Our bowls are amazingly versatile, not only can they be used for olives, but also for peanuts, carrot sticks or cheesy puffs (if it’s that kind of a ‘do’). Serve p29 We love friday nights. Denby has a range of supersize bowls for every kind of snack possible. Get ready to mingle. Create your own mix of products using our guide at the back of the brochure. www.denbybrides.co.uk 21 Well I never. Our glass tumblers can be used for other things besides drinks, like puddings, cheese straws and carrot sticks. Just not all at the same time because that would be strange. Jet Glass p34 Say Cheese. Like cheese? Start a cheese club. Ask your guests to bring round a random flavour cheese. Serve up on a Denby plate, then pick the winner. Denby is made for real food not just for show. Oyster Strands p26 23 We were married in late November during a flurry of snowflakes. It was a fabulous wedding, followed by a wonderful honeymoon in Cadgwith, Cornwall. We were supposed to be leaving on the Sunday, but looking at the skies on the Friday morning we decided to leave a bit earlier to avoid any bad weather. We made it as far as Truro, and then came to a stand-still, snow was falling thick and fast and we, amongst many other motorists, were stranded in the snow. We resigned ourselves to a night in the car. As we turned the heaters up, we noticed a fish and chip shop across the road, so my new husband rushed out and got us our dinner. As he came back instead of getting into the car he headed to the boot and after a bit of rummaging around he came back into the car with two Denby plates and mugs, wedding presents from a friend. So we ate our fish and chip supper off our new plates and drank the bubbly from the mugs, how romantic. Amy & Colin Clark, Bristol. 46 Denby lasts for a long time, so consider what is right for your personal style and feel free to mix and match our ranges. Think about the number of place settings you might need, don’t forget serving pieces, glassware, accessories and the matching teapot. Make use of the tableware checklist we’ve put together for you (see p17), tick off all the pieces you’d like in the range and the number of each required. Take it with you to make life easier when creating your gift list. And most importantly... Try putting cheese in your soup, it tastes pretty good. Jet Dots p35 47 Relax on your wedding day knowing that you don’t have to borrow your nephew’s Blue Peter badge. Azure Coast p33 Imperial Blue p37 The Denby Pottery Company Ltd.
