Stanley Anderson, Dermatology PA.
We are pleased to announce that Stanley Anderson, Dermatology
Physician Assistant, has joined New York Skin and Vein Center and
is seeing patients in both our Oneonta and Norwich offices.
Stan was born and raised in the Town of Binghamton and
attended Susquehanna Valley High School. Upon
graduation he head over to SUNY Broome and SUNY
Binghamton, before finishing up his education at
Marywood University in Scranton PA. He has been in
medicine for over a decade and has specialized in
dermatology for more 8 years. He comes to us from
Southern Tier Dermatology in Endwell.
With four kids under 6 Stan is constantly on the
go and loves being outdoors which is good because
he lives “in

come a very close second. This is a man who truly loves the
healthcare field and says that it makes him extremely happy
to be able to help others. He believes that, “there is nothing
better than to clear a rash on someone who has been suffering
with it for months (and sometimes years) with no relief, and
being able to clear it up for them in a short period of time… or
to diagnosis a malignant melanoma and save someone's life.”

The Cheveux ll Laser Has Arrived!

When it comes to unwanted hair, summer can be a real pain! I’ve never met a woman
yet who isn’t tired of shaving, enduring painful waxing, or waiting ages for hair
removal creams to do their work. So ladies (and gents – we don’t discriminate here
at New York Skin & Vein Center) we have a pleasant surprise for you - The Cheveux
ll Laser is now available in our Oneonta office!
There was a lot of buzz among my staff when the Cheveux ll (pronounced Shu-vo)
arrived recently (everyone wanted to be the first to try it out) so I thought that I would
take a moment to answer some questions you might have about this new laser.

“How does the Cheveux ll system remove hair?”
The laser heats up and kills the hair follicle that grows the hair. No follicle = No hair!
Unlike electrolysis, which treats one hair follicle at a time, the laser treats
hundreds of follicles in just seconds.
“What do Cheveux treatments feel like?”
With the exclusive "Smooth Flow" mode, you will feel a gentle heating
sensation. Clients say that the treatment feels just like a soothing hot stone
massage. My nurse Matt (who is a baby when it comes to pain and didn't like
laser hair removal in the past) had his neck treated and he loved it!
“How many treatments will I need?”
The lighter and finer the hair, the more treatments you will need,
whereas, coarser and darker hair calls for fewer sessions. Typically
patients require about six treatments.

“What will I look like after treatment?”
Post treatment reactions vary depending on the coarseness, density, and color of the
hair and the area being treated, but most patients experience redness similar to a mild
sunburn. The skin will be slightly pink and tender following treatment but this will go
away within hours and you should be able to continue with daily activities immediately.
“Can I be treated if I have darker skin?”
The Cheveux ll Laser is FDA approved for all skin types but if you're darker
skinned, we have to be more careful with the laser. Sometimes we use another
Excel V laser with a laser wavelength that is safer for your skin. When you come
in for your consultation, we’ll examine the areas you want treated, determine your
skin type, discuss your desired results, and the laser that best meets your needs.
“What about blonde / red or gray hair?”
The laser energy is attracted to the melanin in your hair. The greater the amount
of melanin, the better the results. White or gray hair does not contain any melanin
and, therefore, does not respond to treatments. However, some hair that many
would call blonde or red actually does contain enough melanin to be treatable.
That’s precisely why we offer a complimentary consultation, so we can evaluate
your hair and skin type and discuss your options.
“Do I need to stop shaving before my treatment?”
No, in fact we ask that you do shave the area you want treated. We’re actually
targeting the hair follicles below the skin. Surface hair interferes with this process.
However no plucking, waxing or Nair.
So there you have it folks, this cutting edge (no pun intended) laser offers a safe,
effective, and virtually painless permanent hair reduction option. It’s an affordable
and permanent solution to stubble, razor burn, and ingrown hairs. We’re excited to be

Make Your Mother’s Day
With Our Easy Recipes
There is no vegetable that says spring louder than the humble pea. With their
delicate, sweet taste peas provide essential nutrients and are an excellent source of
vitamins K and B6 and folic acid, all crucial to bone strength and cardiovascular
health – and they taste delicious! This quick (dad made) spring pasta recipe features
fresh sweet peas and that other spring favorite asparagus is perfect for a Mother’s
Day dinner.

Primavera
Total prep/cooking Time: 20 minutes
Yield: 4 Servings
Ingredients:

8 oz dry tagliatelle (or fettuccine) pasta
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup chicken or vegetable stock
1 cup heavy cream
1 bunch asparagus, cut in 2-inch slices
1 cup shelled green peas
1 lemon, zest and juice
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
Salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
Preparation:
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to directions. While the pasta is cooking prepare the sauce as follows:
In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium-low heat, and add the garlic. Cook for 1 minute, being very careful not to brown. Add
the stock, cream, lemon zest and turn heat up to high. When it begins to boil, add the vegetables and cook until the asparagus is tendercrisp, about 3 minutes. Turn off heat.
Drain the pasta (do not rinse), and add back to the pot. Pour in the sauce and mix to coat the pasta. Add the lemon juice, basil,
Parmesan, salt and pepper. Toss again and serve immediately with crusty peasant bread.
Green Tea Mojito (serves one)
At first I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this drink (which I came across
in Paul Abercrombie’s excellent book, “Organic, Shaken and Stirred”) but
I was delighted to discover how light and refreshing it was. Serve with our
Mother’s Day Pasta Primavera recipe and become Mom’s new favorite!
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
4 large mint leaves
2 teaspoons sugar
Approx. 1/2 cup brewed green tea, chilled
1 ounce white rum
Muddle the lime juice, mint, and sugar together in a Collins glass until the leaves
bruise lightly and the flavors release. Add ice until glass is about 3/4 full and then
pour in rum and green tea. Stir thoroughly.
Need a pitcher? Simply multiply the ingredients by the number of guests. Muddle
the lime juice, mint, and sugar. Combine with the green tea and white rum in a
pitcher and stir to combine. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
