Saint Elizabeth Community embraces change knowing
that great organizations are always evolving, refining,
and developing. In light of the organizational changes
that occurred in the past few years, Saint Elizabeth
Community embarked on a review of our advertising
and communication messages to be sure that our
message was keeping pace with our organizational
changes. We looked closely at the way we introduce
our services and how we describe what we do and
who we are as an organization. During that process a
descriptive tag line was developed for Saint Elizabeth
Community and it succinctly makes two points.
Saint Elizabeth Community - Where RI seniors come first
Saint Elizabeth Community is the organization that often receives the first call when care is needed for a
loved one. But more importantly we are the organization where seniors’ needs are first - ahead of profits.
Over the next few months our Saint Elizabeth Community message will be introduced to employees and
incorporated into our communication plan.
Each part of our organization is well known in the community, but what is less known is the full
spectrum of services that is Saint Elizabeth Community. Our spectrum of services includes:
affordable apartments for seniors and those with mobility impairments, affordable assisted living, adult
day centers including a specialized center for those in need of memory care, short term rehab care, and
long term care including memory care in secure and supportive living environments. In all our locations
our goal is to treat those we care for Just Like Family.
Our top priority is providing high quality care.We are Rhode Islanders caring for Rhode Islanders since 1882.
A not-for-profit, mission driven organization, Saint Elizabeth Community knows that not-for-profit means
better care because we exceed average staffing ratios and that makes a difference.
In a year full of activity, Saint Elizabeth Community continues to implement its strategic plan, meeting the
needs of our clients. Over the year we served approximately 1600 individuals in our ten locations, including
Saint Elizabeth Terrace which opened in February 2012. Saint Elizabeth Community continues to carry out an
enhanced philanthropy strategic plan to support operations, capital improvements and program enhancements.
We are grateful for the continued support of donors, staff, volunteers and most importantly our clients; the seniors
and their families who call us in the crisis, or plan ahead before the crisis, knowing that we put seniors first.

quality elder care today
Saint Elizabeth Community has expanded programs and services
to meet increased demands in the quantity and complexity of care
needed by the older adults we serve. As we tailor our services for
an expanding elder population, the fundamentals of compassionate,
personalized care has not changed.
Today, our spectrum of care includes care for the most
vulnerable to whom we offer:

Specialized Care for Alzheimer’s Disease & Memory
Disorders at Saint Elizabeth Home and Manor and
Cornerstone Adult Day Program
•
Volunteer Guardianship Program - Volunteer guardians
make health decisions for those without financial
resources or family
•
Saint Elizabeth Haven sheltering elders from physical,
emotional or financial abuse
On the other end of the spectrum is a population who needs

in their own community. To these individuals SEC offers:

Short-term rehabilitative services at the Saint Elizabeth Manor and Saint
Elizabeth Home

Adult day programs in Warwick, Coventry, Bristol and Little Compton
Person-Centered Care
Saint Elizabeth staff is committed to a “personcentered” approach to meet client needs. This may
be as simple as honoring how late a person wants
to stay up watching television to the time meals are
served. Flexibility and individualized care plans are
an integral part of our services.

Activity Director (center). Charitable gifts from the Manor’s

funded the renovated activity/kitchen space.

Stimulating Activities
The scope of activities offered to Saint
Elizabeth clients is an important example of
how a “person-centered” focus impacts life at
each of our locations.
Although group activities, like bingo, are
still popular, there is a greater emphasis on
spontaneous and small group events.
Saint Elizabeth Community residents enjoy a wide variety of
spiritual life programs. Pictured in Saint Elizabeth Manor’s garden
are Ellen Riester, Sister Fatima Simas and Lucille Carignan.
On a beautiful day, a group may head off in
the van for a ride to see the coast and enjoy
chowder and clams, while another group gets
together for their monthly poetry writing class.

Created with funds raised at Rose Bids Gala Auction,
the Wish Project has captured the imagination of our
clients, staff, volunteers and donors.
Over 60 wishes have been granted,
from a day of beauty at a Cranston salon
complete with hair, facial, manicure and makeover
to soaring in a small airplane over
Newport and Narragansett Bay.
