Dear Friends:
Caregivers are individuals who selflessly tend to the needs of
others. This annual report showcases caregivers both in the
community, and within our ten RI locations. Family caregivers
provide invaluable knowledge and support and are partners
in a caregiving team.
At our ten locations we recognize the role of the family
caregiver. Caregivers like 97 year old wife Doris Latham,
a retired nurse who brought her 103 year old husband,
Arthur Latham, home after a short term rehab stay at Saint Elizabeth Home (photo page 3), or Linda Dillon and
Mary Deming, daughters of Barbara Dillon who entrust Cornerstone’s Adult Day Center in Coventry with the
care of their mother during the day (photo page 4). Caregivers at home remain a vital source of both support,
joy and connection when their loved one comes into a senior care community.
We salute the caregivers in the community and those in our building. Together we are building community.
Many services that we offer arose out of learning about the needs that caregivers in the community have, i.e.,
early memory care program in adult day center, respite care in our assisted living and nursing homes, safe haven
for adult victims of abuse with mobility impairment. These services were introduced to meet a need.
Our board of trustees is comprised of professionals whom advise the organization and soundly and carefully
consider new program ideas, or buildings. The SEC Board of Trustees is dedicated to the mission of the
organization and to building community, by supporting the needs of seniors in RI.
Recently we lost a very dedicated board member and friend, Maria Gil. She was a longtime trustee, former board
chair (2010-2013) and simply incredible volunteer. Maria understood that at Saint Elizabeth Community we are
“building community.” She was always seeking to know “what else is needed” for seniors in RI, and how as an
organization could we help. We mourn her passing, but carry her with us as we continue forward.

Remembering Maria Gil...
a dear friend, trustee and exceptional volunteer,
passed away in March after a very brief illness.
Former Chair of the Board of Trustees(2010-2013),
and longtime volunteer, Maria’s positive presence
and bright smile are missed daily.
