International Conference on Nanotechnology and STEM-ER
ALIGARH July 6: The Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with
the Ohio State University (OSU), USA is organizing an International
Conference on Nanotechnology and STEM-ER (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics -Education and Research) on February
24-27, 2016. More than fifty foreign delegates are expected to attend.

The first two days of the conference from February 24-25, 2016 would be
devoted to Nanotechnology and its applications while during the
remaining two days, invited talks will be held highlighting ways and
means to improve the teaching and research standards in STEM subjects
at Indian Universities. There will also be oral and poster presentations
during the conference.
The OSU and AMU have started a two-year dual PhD and Masters of
Education (MEd-STEM) degree program under the pilot project,
STEM-ER, which is funded by the US-India Education Foundation
(USIEF) with a project title '21st Century Knowledge Initiative'. Four PhD
research students from AMU, selected under a very strict criteria have
already completed courses of the first academic year at OSU and returned
to AMU to continue the second year for the dual PhD plus MEd (STEM)
degrees. These AMU-OSU students have been conducting research at the
most advanced facilities under OSU and AMU advisors, as well as
mastering novel teaching methodologies practiced at the universities in
USA. The aim of the project is to create world-class faculty for teaching
and research at Indian Universities.
The international conference will be organized by the Centre of Excellence
in Nanotechnology at AMU, which has several patents and awards to its
credit, and has been recognized by various government funding agencies.
The Centre has successfully organized four International Conferences in
past with active participation of foreign and national experts on
Nanotechnology research and inventions since its inception in 2009. The
“ALIGARH NANO V”, combined with STEM-ER conference, will be the
fifth.
Details about the conference can be ascertained from Prof. Alim Husain
Naqvi, Prof. Asad Ullah Khan and Prof. Nesar, all from AMU and Prof.
Anil Pradhan, Prof. Sultana Nahar and Prof. Karen Irving of Ohio State
University.
