For the past 11 years we have been bringing the Thunder to
the Panama City Beach and every year we are truly amazed
at how many people not only truly enjoy our beachside rally,
but how many folks keep coming back year after year. This
year’s Spring Rally is no exception as we are expecting the
biggest year we have ever had. One would think that with
the economy in the dumps and the motorcycle industry
struggling to keep their head above water, that we would be
expecting a smaller turnout this year. Boy, were we wrong.
This year we have more Vendors than we have ever had
before and quite a few of them will be either joining us for the
first time or have doubled their presence here at the rally. If
our website traffic is any indication of how many people will
be joining us, this will be the biggest & best Thunder Beach
we’ve ever had!
When we sent out our online survey after last Autumn’s
Rally we were expecting a few of you to respond, but we
had no idea how many would not only take the survey but
give us honest answers and great suggestions. Well, we really
took it to heart and have made some changes based on your
recommendations and ideas. First of all, we have added a new
stage at our fantastic new Venue, Club La Vela. Since we now
have two stages, we thought we would listen to our attendees
again and upgrade our entertainment. We’re still bringing back
a couple of long time favorites, but expect some fresh new talent
to be burning up the stages of Thunder Beach! In conjunction
with US Rider News, we have expanded the mega-popular Best
of The Beach Bike Show at Pier Park and have raised the cash
& prizes to over $15,000! Pier Park is also home to the Demo
Rides so if you’re looking to take a cruise n a brand new bike,
don’t miss this chance.
In this issue of our Thunder Beach Event Guide you will find
all the information, schedules, “Biker Friendly” Sponsors,
Venues, Vendors, and much more! If any of you have been
receiving our online newsletter or been a regular visitor to

a way for all of our rally attendees to recognize which businesses

Welcome Bikers! It’s that time of year again
when all of you are making your plans to travel
to Panama City Beach for the Spring 2009 Rally. I hope that your journey to our fair City is a
safe one. While you are here, the Panama City
Police Department will do its part to see that
your stay with us is safe and organized. We
want to see you all again in the Fall!
We would like for you to enjoy your time with us,
but I wanted to remind all of a couple of things. And it’s the same things
that we tell the rest of our visitors. Please use your best common sense
and judgement while you are here. And also remember that if it will
get you in trouble at home, it will most likely get you in trouble here. My
officiers will assist you in any way that they can, but we are still tasked
with enforcing the laws of the City and State.
Please be respectful oyour hosts. Out residents also enjoy seeing all of
the motorcycles that you bring into the city, but a small number do not
enjoy the noise. I would ask that you be mindful of your surroundings
and the time of day or night while you ride, especially late at night. Don’t
get in such a big hurry and just enjoy a slow ride.
We know that with all of the events that visit our City each year, there is
always one very small group of individuals that try their best to ruin it for
everyone. Please don’t be one of those people and don’t even associate with the, Just give us a call and we will handle the matter. This is
such a great event each year and it’s really up to you to keep the good
times rolling. As you leave and head home, take the great memories
with you and be safe on the road!

BOARDWALK CONVENTION CENTER : EVENT SCHEDULE
The Boardwalk Beach Resort and Convention Center is home to the Official Thunder Beach
Welcome Center, and is the “go-to” place for any information you may need while you are
here.It is also the only place you can pick up the Rally Packages ordered prior to the Rally.
The Welcome Center is conveniently located just inside the entrance to the Convention
Center and will be staffed from 9 AM to 7PM daily.
The Convention Center itself has over 20,000 sq ft of vendors and exhibits. More vendors
and exhibits are also located around the Convention Center and adjacent to the outdoor

Beach first became a free rally, this original venue is still one of our most popular venues.
Encompassing some 75,000 sq. ft. with vendors of all types, the Shoppes at Edgewater
is absolutely jam packed. Make sure that you check out Edgewater’s Rock ‘It Lanes
complete with a Bar & Grille outdoor beer garden and over 8,000square feet of additional

CLUB LA VELA : EVENT SCHEDULE
Thunder Beach proudly announces the addition of the Club La Vela to the roster of Venues.
Often considered one of the trendiest and well respected nightclubs in the world, Club La Vela
offers 10 different theme rooms as well as one of the coolest party decks anywhere, complete
with a massive gulf side swimming pool - the Coliseum Multiplex!
During the Thunder Beach Rallies, Club La Vela’s unique and expansive parking lot will be
transformed into the Manufacturer’s Expo featuring the biggest display and installation rigs
in the business. There will also be live entertainment during the daytime with staging and
production outside of the Club. There’s also some great entertainment going on inside the club
after 8pm so make sure you check thier party schedule! As with every other Thunder Beach

Over the last two years Frank Brown Park has truly grown into our largest Venue and Biker
shopping Paradise! This is where you will find the most expansive layout of exhibits, bike

stunt show, bike games and more! For the Spring 2009 Rally ,Thunder Beach Productions
has arranged the biggest displays and the most variety of products we have ever offered
at the Thunder Beach Rally. Over the last year improvements at the Park that include a
paved road all the way around the exhibit area, and an entrance/exit at Pier Park road
have made this location one of the premier spots to visit at the Rally. We encourage all
riders to use this Motorcycle Only access at Pier Park Rd.
As always this “Bikes Only” venue has No Admission Charges, plenty of FREE PARKING

hand with charitable organizations. Many of the most popular
events at rallies like Thunder Beach benefit various charities
around the area. Poker Runs, a perennial favorite, are all done
with the purpose of helping those less fortunate than you and
I. The staff of Thunder Beach salutes all of the charitable
organizations and the many bikers & enthusiasts that give back
so much to our community!

community. A small stone plaque now stands at the spot
where Kight was killed. Our hearts go out to his beloved
family and we are proud to be able to honor him with a
parade that allows him to give back to his community even
after he was taken from us. We think that Officer Kight
would be proud that he still has the ability to give back to
his community even in death. As long as there is a Thunder
Beach Rally on Panama City Beach, there will always be a
Kevin Kight Memorial Parade.
One of the most inspirational events of every Thunder
Beach Rally is the gathering of hundreds of local riders and
Thunder Beach attendees for the Kevin Kight Memorial
Parade. The event has special significance to the Panama
City Beach community as it serves to memorialize a fallen
local hero and provides much needed assistance to
deserving children & families in the community.
This parade is named in honor of Kevin Kight, a Panama
City Beach Police Officer who tragically lost his life in the line
of duty while making a traffic stop on Front Beach Road on

Parade participants and onlookers are urged to make cash
donations as well as canned goods and nonperishable’s s
that are given to local food banks serving needy families
throughout the Bay County area through the Cops and
Kids program.
This rally’s Kevin Kight Memorial Parade place on Saturday
May 2, 2009 and starts on the corner of Beckrich and
Middle Beach Road. Line-up starts at 10:30 and donations
will be accepted across the street in the Publix Shopping
Center parking lot.

So here you are at the Spring Thunder Beach Rally, are wondering what to do, where to go, or
what to see? We have some activities that are definitely worth checking out while you are out
and about cruising around the beach.
If you ever wanted to take a ride on a new Boss Hoss or Yamaha cruiser then head on over to
Pier Park and sign up for one of the daily Demo’s. From what we are hearing, the route for the
rides will head west along Front Beach Road for several miles and then return to Pier Park via
Hwy 98, should make for a great ride!
While you are visiting Pier Park you may also want to check out the performances by the Daytona
Harley Davidson Motorcycle Drill Team on Friday and Saturday. Entertaining crowds for over 14
years, the Team also promotes rider safety awareness which is what they will be doing all day
Thursday April 30th. The performance consists of over 52 moves with an X in the middle of the
course, no radios are used. These moves are precisely executed by riders whose skills make
these 900+ pound machines look like child’s play. Bring your camera!
Over at Frank Brown Park you won’t want to miss the Stunt jumping shows and Globe of Death
performances provided by Ives family. Performing three shows daily, these exhibitions are
always a good way to add some excitement to your day watching these guys perform!

Prior to each Rally, we receive a
few emails and calls from Rally
attendees asking questions about
certain laws and regulations
for Florida and Bay County. We
wanted to make sure that we
gave everyone the opportunity to
have the best time possible and
that means knowing what you can
and can’t do. Most of this info is
common sense, sheer courtesy,
and also relates to keeping
everyone safe while cruising the streets of our beachside
community. This means knowing what might inspire Law
Enforcement to want to speak with you.
Panama City Beach and the Thunder Beach Rally.
We had a chat with Chief Robert Harding of the Panama
City Beach Police Dept. so he could give us some of his
thoughts to pass on our Thunder Beach Friends Rally
friends. It’s a fairly short list of do’s and don’ts so please
read over them and make the most out of your trip to
Equipment Violations
Although there may be more discretion by the Police Dept.
whether they contact you regarding your bike’s appearance,
the easiest thing to do is just make sure your bike has the
proper (Legal) equipment, you have an endorsement, and
insurance. Most of you may already know Florida has
passed some new laws that have much harsher penalties
for certain behavior and how your equipment is displayed.

Please, No BURNOUTS!
This type of behavior will most likely land you in Jail and your
bike in the impound yard. My guess would be Wheelies or
other wreckless stunts might have the same result.
Just don’t do it!
Please Refrain from EXCESSIVE NOISE!
This is attention getting behavior and provides enough
motivation law enforcement to contact you, especially
late at night. Ride... have fun, and show respect for the
community you are in and please don’t make a lot of
unnecessary noise. Loud pipes may not itself get attention,
how you use them will.
Gathering on or by the Roadside to watch the Riders.
After our Spring Rally we received a few inquires about this
subject. Most of the inquiries were about why the police
were not allowing people to gather and watch the riders
on Front Beach Rd. The Chief doesn’t object to this but
would like to relay some guidelines. This is a safety issue
to the Police Dept. and the first thing would be to make
sure you aren’t sitting or gathering in the road right of
way, they would prefer you are well off the road. Next, if
the Dept. thinks anyone in the group is encouraging any
inappropriate behavior they will make you leave the area.
Chief Harding really does appreciate the fact that the vast
majority of our Rally crowd doesn’t create any issues,
safety related or otherwise which makes their job much
easier overall. We all know the actions of a few can affect
how it goes for the rest of us, so here at Thunder Beach
Productions we encourage everyone to Ride Safe and
follow this short list of guidelines to help keep the Rally
one of the best ones going ANYWHERE!

Boss Hoss

If you watch any sort of Biker Television, then you have seen
Jerry Covington and some of his amazing bikes. Appearing on
such shows as Biker Build Off, Corbin’s Ride, numerous shows
on Speedvision and even Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia,
Jerry has constantly broken boundaries with his unique style and
attention to detail. Jerry started building custom motorcycles
in the early seventies and founded Covington’s Cycle City in

Indian Motorcycles
Started way back in 1901 by two former bicycle racers, Indian
Motorcycle is America’s oldest motorcycle brand and was

American Ironhorse has been designing and manufacturing high

Most people don’t realize that Yamaha has been making
motorcycles since 1953. Yamaha can also be credited as

Our Spring 2009 Miss Thunder Beach pageant series and spokesmodel program looks to be bigger and better than ever! The Pageant
series kicked off early this year with our first ever regional contest sponsored and officiated by Randy Snyder and the crew at Full Throttle
Magazine. The event was held at the Buck Snort bike rally up in Jackson Ga. and resulted in three beauties that will come on down to
compete in the final event Friday May 1st at the Boardwalk Beach Resort at 5 PM. Photos of these winning ladies and galleries of some
of our newest models can be found at www.missthunderbeach.com, our website dedicated exclusively to Miss Thunder Beach and
the Spoke Model team. The semi-final pageant series continues at Newby’s Too on Tuesday April 28th, Wednesday April 29th at
the Sandpiper Beacon, and Thursday April 30th at Sharky’s Beach Club.
Many of the ladies featured here are not only contestants in the pageant series, they are part of the
spokesmodel team that is scheduled to take part in a variety of activities such as the Lingerie Show
daily at the Boardwalk, greeting you at the welcome center, and making sure you enjoy yourself
at the VIP event Thursday night at the EBRO Dog track. They also will be making appearances
throughout the Rally at all official Thunder Beach venues, so stop on by get a photo with them and
pick up a signed poster!

Music has always been an integral part of the Thunder Beach experience.
One of the very first concepts on the table in developing the Rally was
the guarantee of great free live entertainment. Over the years Thunder
Beach has gradually expanded from one venue and a small stage to
the current event featuring Seven Official Venues and two concert style
stages and has stayed true to this core concept. We have had some
great bands play on our stages over the years and many have joined us
at more than one or two events. After we added an new outdoor stage
at the Club La Vela Venue, we decided to ramp it up just a bit and bring
in some of the best entertainment ever to perform at the Rally.
With their first appearance at our
Autumn Rally, ODIS has definitely
found a home with Thunder Beach.
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, ODIS
seamlessly mixes vintage r&b, classic
soul, and a heavy dose of funk to
create their very unique sound. With
their current single, “Feel” burning
up the airwaves in the southeast and
Midwest, and one of the best live
shows on the circuit today, ODIS is
turning heads everywhere they go.
Another Autumn Rally alum is Atlanta’s
Holdcell. This three piece rock act has
been touring relentlessly through the
Southeast spreading their own version
of southern rock and roll and making
thousands of friends along the way.
With influences ranging from classic
rock to southern rock – and sometimes
a touch of reggae and funk thrown in
for good measure – Holdcell dominates
the stage during their live performances and gives all those that witness
a show they won’t soon forget!
Hailing from Tallahassee, Florida is the consummate classic music
man, Drew Tilman and his band. Ripping through renditions of classic
standards from Zepplin, Hendrix, &
the Stones, Drew has a following that
extends far past this region. He and
his band have has opened for national
recording artists such as Robin Trower,
John Lee Hooker, The Romantics,
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Red Hot Chili
Peppers and others. We’re proud
to have him on the Thunder Beach
stage!

Longtime Thunder Beach blues favorite
King Cotton returns to Thunder Beach
for their fifth year and we couldn’t be
happier. Tony Young and the fellas
have been pumping out the best in
blues for just under ten years and
although there have been a couple
of lineup changes; King Cotton is still
smokin’ hot. Sharing the stage with
acts such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy,
Styx, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Edgar Winter, George Clinton and
others King Cotton brings their own blend of blues with a little bit of
southern boogie-woogie and outlaw country mixed in to bring fans one
awesome show!
Last Autumn we got more comments
on one of our last minute bookings,
and although we knew they were
good, we had no idea how good! New
Fangled Theory is what could best be
described as a jam band the blends
country, classic and southern rock and
reggae into a cool mélange of groovy
goodness. Recently nominated in 3
different band categories in the 2008
Beachcomber Music Awards...the
ONLY band to be nominated in 3 categories – you can expect to hear a
lot more from Newfangled Theory.
Making their first time appearance this Spring is Jackson County,
Florida’s Rebel Syndicate. To describe
their music I refer to a quote on their
bio: “ It’s not alternative country, edge
of country, or any other subtitled, prepackaged, freeze dried form you’ve
been told. Southern music is country!”
I could not have said it better myself!
Rebel Syndicate has shared the stage
with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker,
Atlanta Rhythm Section, Kentucky
Headhunters,
Brother
Phelps,
Shenandoah, and Sammy Kershaw and now they’re bringing it to
Thunder Beach!
Since the 2002 Leesburg Bikefest, KathyJo & The Bluzification Band
have been packing the house with their unique brand of high-energy
“in-your-face” rockin’ blues at major biker events & festivals, city & state
fests, clubs & music festivals. Famous for her Janis Joplin covers, KJ’s
intense vocals & ability to fully interact with her audience has created
thousands of fans, especially in the
biker community and online. Backed
by the seasoned veterans of the
Bluzification Band, KJ has opened
and shared the bill with national
acts like Blackfoot, Pat Travers, Molly
Hatchet, Atlanta Rhythm Section and
The Marshall Tucker Band.
Formed in 2006 and hailing from
Atlanta’s north side, GRIP has been
burning rubber and getting a firm GRIP
on Thunder Beach and other Rallies
across the Southeast for the last few
years. Plain and simple GRIP is FUN! They
play high energy covers and originals as
versatile as the crowd. With their great
choice of Classic Rock and Dance,
Country and Hick Hop, they always have
you scattered, smothered, and covered with their wireless antics and
infamous GRIP tattoos.
Rounding up the amazing talent at
Thunder Beach this year is long time local
favorite, Kelly Hundley & The Healers.
This spectacular blues trio have long
been a part of Thunder Beach as their
boundless energy and seemingly endless
repertoire attract both young and old alike.
Kelly absolutely shreds on guitar and his
rhtymh section Phillip Griffin on bass &
Brian Call on drums provides a rock solid
foundation that never seems to fluctuate regardless of the tune or how
many scantily clad young ladies dance for them!
With all the talent we described we really should be charging some sort
of ticket price or cover charge, but you know we won’t. Thunder Beach
has always offered great entertainment at the best price imaginable:
