“Taksim Trio” Concert, Poznan EthnoPort Festival, 14 June 2014
“Taksim Trio” group of famous musicians from Turkey attended the EthnoPort
Festival in Poznan, with support from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The group members İsmail Tunçbilek, Aytaç Doğan and Hüsnü Şenlendirici’s
concert on 14 June 2014 was greatly enjoyed by a young and interested Polish
audience.

Turkish Compositions at the ISCM World Music Days, Wroclaw,
3-12 October 2014
Turkish compositions were recited at the International Society of
Contemporary Music ISCM World Music Days Festival in Wroclaw
between 3-12 October 2014 on the occassion of the 600th anniversary
celebrations.
Following Turkish composers and musicians took part in the festival
with their compositions: Meliha Doğuduyal (Abime), Mithatcan Öcal
(Şıvgın- the premiere, also recorded by the Polish Radio), Özkan
Manav (Countryside) and Ahmet Yürür.

Concert of Bulent Ecevit University, 10-11 October 2014, Warsaw
Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University Classical Turkish Music Group, performed
two concerts in Warsaw, organized by the Yunus Emre Institute in Warsaw, on
the occassion of the 600th anniversary celebrations, on the 10th of October at the
Lojos Kossuth School and on the 11th of October 2014 at the Polish Radio.

"European Music at the Ottoman Court” concert performed by
Sopot Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Dr. Emre Aracı in
Gdansk, 18 October 2016
On the occasion of the celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the establishment
of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Poland, Dr. Emre Aracı conducted a
concert themed "European Music at the Ottoman Court” accompanied by Sopot
Philharmonic Orchestra at St John's Center in Gdansk on 18 October 2014. The
concert organized in a historical venue was followed with great admiration by
Gdansk audience. The opening speech was delivered by Mr. Serdar Davran,
Honorary Consul General of Turkey in Gdansk and was attended by high level
authorities of Gdansk and the Tri-City’s as well as many outstanding guests and
the press.

The concert organized and conducted by Dr. Emre Aracı included
works by famous European composers like the Donizetti’s and Rossini
for the Ottoman Sultans as exemplified by the Ceremonial March by
Giuseppe Donizetti Pasha for Sultan Mahmud II as well as waltzes,
Polkas and European classical music composed by the Ottoman Sultans
themselves.
Young Turkish artists Can Okan and Can Kehri at the Sinfonia
Varsovia Festival, 25 October 2014
Cellist Can Kehri and pianist Can Okan gave a recital within the scope of 14th
Franciszek Wybrańczyk Festival of Sinfonia Varsovia on 25 October 2014 on the
occasion of the celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the establishment of
diplomatic relations between Turkey and Poland.
The concert program included works by Turkish composers Saygun and Manav
as well as Polish composers Chopin and Stojowski. The concert as the closing
activity of the Festival was followed with great admiration by the attending

Concert of Pianist Zeynep Üçbaşaran and Violinist Cihat Aşkın
and National Day Reception, Poznan, Palac Dzialynskich, 26
October 2014
Pianist Zeynep Üçbaşaran and Violinist Cihat Aşkın performed in Poznan on the
occasion of the Republic Day, hosted by Mr. Kudynski, Honorary Consul General
of Turkey highlighting the celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Poland.
The concert consisting mainly of the works of Turkish and Polish composers was
followed with great admiration by the invitees.

The Turkish National Day Reception and the Concert of Pianist
Zeynep Üçbaşaran and Violinist Cihat Aşkın, Zamek Krolewski, 29

On the occasion of the Turkish National Day, a concert and a reception were held
at the Royal Palace Museum (Zamek Królewski w Warszawie - Muzeum) in
Warsaw on 29 October 2014.

H.E. Ambassador Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ziya Özcan and Madame Prof. Dr. Kıvılcım
Metin Özcan as well as the Minister-Counsellor Mrs. and Mr. Cırcıroğlu and
Military Attaché Colonel and Mrs. Erikli welcomed the guests of the reception.
H.E. Ambassador Özcan made the official welcome speech underlining the 600 th
anniversary celebrations of diplomatic relations.

High level Polish politicians and officials including H.E. Grzegorz Schetyna,
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland and Honorable Tadeusz Iwinski,
Chairperson of the Polish-Turkish Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group, the
diplomatic corps and guests participated in the concert performed by Pianist
Zeynep Üçbaşaran and Violinist Cihat Aşkın and in the reception held after it.

Poland during 2014.
Concerts of the Civilizations of Antakya Chorus, Warsaw, 14-15
November 2014
“Civilizations of Antakya Chorus” is composed of people from all walks of life
and members of Christian, Moslem and Jewish denominations.
The chorus was in Warsaw for their first tour on the occassion of the 600th
anniversary of diplomatic relations.
“Civilizations of Antakya Chorus” performed their first concert at the hall of the
University of Warsaw on the 14th of November 2014.
Their second performance was in the Holy Cross Church on the 15th of November
2014. Both events organized by the Embassy and the Yunus Emre Institute
Warsaw received great interest from the Polish public.
The repertoire of the Chorus included songs from many religions, languages and
countries, they also performed a song in Polish, loved by the late Polish Pope, Jan
Paul the Second and that was very much liked by the Polish audience.

Wojciech Bobowski/Ali Ufki Bey Concert in Bobowa, 23 November
2014
City of Bobowa in Poland organized a concert and presentation titled “Lord of
Horizons” (Ali Ufki Bey/Wojciech Jaxa Bobowski) at the Bobowa Music School
on 23 November 2014. The event was attended by the Mayor of Bobowa Mr.
Waclaw Ligeza and Counsellor of the Embassy Ms. N. İpek Aynuksa.
During the event speeches were delivered about the life and works of Wojciech
Bobowski/Ali Ufki Bey who was born in Poland and continued his life as a
musician, composer and translator at the Ottoman Court during the 17th century.

Turkish Artists at the 56th Jazz Jamboree Festival, Warsaw, 25
November 2014
Turkish jazz musicians Sibel Köse, Önder Focan and Kamil Erdem performed
together with Polish jazz musician Janusz Szprot at the Jazz Jamboree Festival on
the 25th of November, on the occassion of 600th anniversary programme.
Tanini Trio Concert, Polish Radio, Warsaw, 4 December 2014

Outstanding musicians of Tanini Trio (Tahir Aydoğdu, Bilgin Canaz ve Hakan
Ali Toker) performed at the Polish Radio concert hall on the 4th of December
2014. Their performance of traditional Turkish music as well as western folk and
classical compositions on the piano, kanun and ney, with jazzy improvizations
was a unique first in Poland. The recordings of the concert was broadcasted later
by the Polish Radio, thus reaching a wider audience.
THEATER
Andersen Theatre, “Flying Coffer”, Lublin, Open Air, 14-29 June
2014
The Andersen Theatre in Lublin, having many contacts and projects with Turkey,
contributed to the 600th anniversary of diplomatic relations by staging the play
“The Flying Coffer” in Lublin at the Open Air Theater Festival between 14-29th
of June 2014.

Turkish Films Week, Warsaw, Lodz, Krakow, 3-10 October 2014
Turkish Films Week was organized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and
Tourism on the occassion of the 600th anniversary of diplomatic relations. During
the week outstanding Turkish films were screened in Warsaw, Krakow and Lodz.
At the opening ceremony of the film festival in Warsaw, two documentaries on
Turkish-Polish relations, specially prepared for the 600th anniversary of
diplomatic relations were screened. The documentary on Adam Mickiewicz and
Nazım Hikmet was titled: “Two Great States: Two Great Poets”.
The second one included interviews conducted in Warsaw and was titled: “Once

Focus on Turkish Film Industry at the Wroclaw T-Mobile
New Horizons Film Festival, 24 July-3 August 2014
Within the scope of celebrations of the 600th anniversary of diplomatic relations
between Turkey and Poland, supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and
Tourism and with the collaboration of Istanbul Film Festival–Meetings on the
Bridge and T-mobile New Horizons Film Festival, a series of events titled Focus
on Turkish Film Industry was realized in Wroclaw between 24 July-1 August.

Symposium on the 600th Anniversary of Polish-Turkish
Relations, Ankara, 5 March 2014
A symposium on Turkish-Polish relations was organized in Ankara on the 5th of
March 2014 by the Directorate General of Press and Information. The symposium
was attended by experts and high level dignitaries.
The proceedings of the symposium was published in a book by the Directorate
General of Press and Information.

An International Conference titled “Contact Zones” in Polish-Turkish Relations
(1414-2014) was organized in Warsaw on 6-7 June 2014 by the Institute of
History of the University of Warsaw and the Turkish Historical Society.

The Third International Congress of Turkology, Warsaw,
25-27 June 2014
The Third International Congress of Turkology titled “600 Years of PolishTurkish Relations – Research on Turkology Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”
was organized between 25-27th of June 2014 at the University of Warsaw. The
conference was organized by the Faculty of Oriental Studies Department of
Turkish Studies and Inner Asian Peoples in cooperation with the Yunus Emre
Institute Warsaw.

The Conference of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and
the National Bank of Poland, Royal Lazienki Museum, 26 June
2014
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and the National Bank of Poland held
a conference titled "Poland and Turkey's Transitions: Achievements and
Challenges Ahead" in the Palace on the Isle in the Royal Lazienki Museum in
Warsaw on 26 June 2014 on the occasion of the activities of the 600th Anniversary
of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Turkey and Poland.
During the conference, Mr. Erdem Başçı, Governor of the Central Bank and Mr.
Marek Belka, Governor of the National Bank of Poland delivered opening
speeches and the panelists continued with speeches and discussions. (photos: the

International Conference “Poland-Turkey: 600 Years of
Diplomatic Relations”, Poznań, 5 November 2014
International Conference titled “Poland-Turkey: 600 Years of Diplomatic
Relations” was organized by the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at
the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań on the 5th of November 2014.
The event organized with the cooperation of the Polish Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and the Embassy of Turkey had many prominent speakers from Poland
and Turkey.

Fairs and Commercial Exhibitions
In the year of 2014, a
special
incentive
program
was
executed
to
encourage
the
Turkish companies to
individually
participate into 21
international
fairs
and
commercial
exhibitions organized
in Poland in order to
accelerate
the
increase of bilateral
trade on the ground
of 600 years long
commercial
relations. In this
context, Budma Fair
was recognized as
an internationally
prestige fair and
registered in the list
of
international
prestige fairs list
that
the Turkish
Government
strongly advises and
encourages the Turkish companies to participate. Moreover, two international fairs organized
in Poland were listed in the group participation that was supported by the Turkish Government.
Seminars, Panels, Business Forums and Congresses About Business and Investment
Opportunities
In Turkey and in Poland, many seminars and congress about business and investment potential
and opportunities were organized by the Turkish Government within the aim of encouraging
and supporting the Turkish and Polish businessmen to invest in the further development of
bilateral economic and commercial relations by utilizing the potential and opportunities.
Business forums were organized in Istanbul and Warsaw.
CEO Summits co-chaired by the Turkish and Polish Ministry of Economy
In order to increase mutual investment in the future of both countries' economy, the Turkish
and Polish leading investors were jointly invited and encouraged by both Governments. Turkish
and Polish leading companies' CEOs had opportunities to exchange their views and thoughts
and submit their expectations from both governments to increase their investments.
Cooperation Agreements Between Chambers and Associations
Cooperation agreements, protocols and letters of intent among the Turkish and Polish
Chambers, Associations and public institutions were signed that boosted the development of
bilateral commercial and economic relations.
With the purpose of expanding the dialogue between the Turkish and Polish business
communities, by the Turkish Government's encouragement and supports, 6 Turkish Trade
Delegation Visits were organized that considerably contributed to the development of bilateral
trade.
All these events and organizations have boosted the development of bilateral commercial and
economic relations between Turkey and Poland that was noted with the 4,5 % increase of
bilateral trade volume and considerably increase of Turkish investments in Poland. All these
developments have represented the strong common intent to build a brighter future of bilateral
commercial and economic relations on the base of precious 600 hundred years long friendly
and cooperative bilateral relations that has always brought further welfare to the Turkish and
Polish nations.
