Integrative Core Training For the Baby Boomer & Senior Populations
with Dr. Evan Osar
Part II of The Integrative Corrective Specialist™ Certification
Thursday, April 14th 8:30am-4:30pm
Baby boomers and seniors are the largest growing segment of our population
and understand that they must remain active to live healthy and productive
lives. Increasing numbers of boomers and seniors are seeking out qualified
fitness professionals who know how to work with their unique needs and
not simply train them like there are 20 year olds or professional athletes. In
this informative and interactive workshop, you will discover the principles for
developing a safe and effective core-training program that includes integrating
corrective and progressive core exercises designed specifically for the baby
boomer and senior populations. You will learn about common core issues such
as low back tightness, disc problems, and spinal stenosis. Additionally you
will discover how to assess as well as address common issues such as postural
dysfunction and muscle imbalances while seamlessly integrating your client’s
goals with their needs.
* Anyone can attend this year’s pre con even if they did not attend part I
last year. Each session is independent of each other so that participants can
take each one independently and/or work towards the Integrative Corrective

BAX™ High Intensity Training Meets Myofascial Release
with Robert Steinbacher
Thursday, April 14th 9am-5pm and Monday, April 18th 9am-5pm
BAX is an advanced performance-training program that was created by Robert
Steinbacher and is based on the holistic principles of Yin and Yang. The two
opposing but mutual conditional forces must be in balance with each other
according to the teaching of traditional Chinese medicine, so that the energy
and the body can flow freely. The workout is an innovative concept of highintensity performance training (Yang) that combines with Myofascial exercises
(Yin). The high intensity side, YANG, focuses more on the external training
representing power, while YIN focuses on the internal training of the muscles
which represent myofascial training. BAX concentrates on coordination and
functional training with the aim to achieve an ideal enhancement for each
target group and sport-type and thereby compensating the external for the
internal. Breathing is of the utmost importance in BAX which helps to create a
synergy between physical and mental fitness thus leading to overall enhanced
performance.

CHEK Institute: Program Design with Dan Hellman
Monday, April 18th 9am-5:30pm
Exercise is like a drug; given in the right quantities at the right time, it can help a
person. In the wrong quantities at the wrong time it can hurt the same person.
A key skill for any fitness professional is being able to design individualized
exercise programs that will lead to optimal performance for all types of clients.
This seminar is designed to teach you to do just that! You will learn how to
combine and manipulate acute exercise variables; not just reps and sets, but
also loads, tempo and rest periods. Periodization concepts are covered and
case histories are used as illustrations, bringing real-life examples to help you
understand these critical factors. Move far beyond the “one-program-fits-all”
approach and leave with an in-depth understanding of how to use the science of
selecting acute exercise variables to create effective programs for all your clients.
Attendees will receive:
– Printed manual complete with program design templates
– Certificate of completion at end of day (they have to stay the whole day to get
this!)
– Access to the online test (they don’t have to take the test to get CECs, but
they do if they want to use this as a pre-requisite for the CHEK Exercise Coach
program).
– Access to the online video of the correspondence course, for post-seminar
reference (a $130 value)

Making Sense of Current Food Trends (ws)
Bruce Mylrea
Soy is good. Soy is bad. Organic is a must.
Organic means nothing. Kale may save my
life. Kale may kill me. We are bombarded
these days with conflicting information
about everything related to the food we eat.
It is easy to feel overwhelmed in a world
of contradiction. Armed with the latest
researched based information, Bruce will sift
through the noise and uncover myths and
truths about what we eat and how that food
will effect our energy, immunity, and total
well being. Just because it is on the internet,
doesn’t make it true. This lecture will arm
you with the facts you need to know as a
wellness coach to help your clients achieve
real success.
FRIDAY 9-10:15AM
Miracle Ball Method (ws)
Elaine Petrone
Relieve pain, reduce stress and reshape the
body with a non-exercise approach to fitness
and health. By learning how to “un” work
your excess muscle tension, your body’s
own alignment system will begin to realign
and adjust itself. As a result, the pressure is
relieved from the chronically stressed areas
such as the low back, neck and shoulders.
Your body will begin to move differently
reshaping your core and relieving your stress.
HIIT Parade (ws)
Mindy Mylrea
Fartik, Tabata, Little 30-20-10, 12-8 –
positive recovery, negative recovery, longer
intervals, shorter intervals when to use it
and when not to? So many options and so
little time! What is a trainer to do? Trust
Mindy to hold your hand and guide you
through the HIIT Parade. Learn the science
then strategically put HIIT training to the
test. Formulate progressions and principals
for success and retention and create training
sessions that matter.
FRIDAY 9:30-11AM
Peak Pilates® for Runners (ws)
Kathryn Coyle
Anyone who is a runner knows that a certain
amount of preventive maintenance is required
if you want to get your miles in. Pilates is the
perfect method to keep you on your feet
since it will build strength without excessive
fatigue, stretch out tight and sore muscles
and will help prevent injury. Whether you are
a weekend warrior or a serious competitor
explore how to adapt the classical reformer
and tower for the runner’s body.
The Star Within! (L)
Rob Glick & Kimberly Spreen-Glick
Have you uncovered the Star within you?
Rob and Kimberly have defined the elements
11
that make up a true Superstar within our
industry. Being a Superstar is not beyond
your grasp. You already have what it takes,
but it’s not configured the same way in you
as it is in anyone else. Through this training,
we will provide you with tools that will
allow you to leverage your strengths, face
your challenges and tap into the qualities
within you that will enable you to be a more
effective fitness professional and deliver an
experience as opposed to a class. Come
discover a Star…come discover YOU!
FRIDAY 10:30-11:30AM
IO-Ball Deep Core Xtreme (ws)
Danielle Buccellato
Challenge your body and core with this
highly effective IO-Ball workout. The IOBall is an outstanding tool which provides
3 different usable areasall creating a safe
unstable surface. This brand new device
shows how to build up balance, strength
and stability by utilizing functional exercises
(those that mimic everyday activities) while
improving posture and toning. The challenge
to your core will be nothing like you have
experienced previously.
Strength Overload (ws)
Mindy Mylrea
Break free of the traditional strength-training
workout and go into Strength Overload.
Using Gliding Discs, Stability balls, and
body weight you will experience combo
workouts targeting lower, upper, and core
in flowing grounded patterns and dynamic
explosive patterns. Learn progressions and
regressions that allow all levels of fitness to
feel successful.
FRIDAY 11:30-1PM
Peak Pilates®: Powerhouse Chair (ws)
Connie Borho
Using the MVe® Chair, this class will
challenge everything you thought you knew
about the core. Strength, endurance, power,
and balance will be challenged with creative
combinations designed to provide a full-body
workout that is fun and functional.
The Great Debate-Resting Metabolism: Is
It Hot Or Not? (L)
Jason Karp
Many fitness professionals tell their clients
that strength training adds muscle mass,
increasing resting metabolic rate so they can
burn more calories all day, which can help
them lose weight. While scientific research
has documented that metabolic rate is
acutely elevated after a workout, resting
metabolism is not chronically increased.
This presentation reviews the research on
the effects of aerobic exercise and strength
training on resting metabolic rate to discover
the truth about this complex issue. Leave
with a deeper understanding of resting
metabolism and how to educate your clients
on its effects.
FRIDAY 12:30-1:45PM
The Exercise Generator (ws)
John Hardy
A Trainer is known by their ability to devise
workouts that achieve goals, but also offer
entertainment and creativity. In order to
do this, you need a system that will help
you build exercises that are based on sound
scientific principles, yet allow you to create an almost limitless set of variables. The
Exercise Generator is a simple but powerful
way of using your own experience and skill to
produce useful exercise after exercise. Explore
movements developed using this system to hit
different muscles, skills and movements, using
a variety of equipment and environments.

highly motivating and intense cardiovascular
workout is rooted in martial art basic and
advanced techniques. During the class we’ll

the main kicks. Each move is executed on
its own to learn and perfect technique and

exercises and fighting routines. For over 15
years, POWERSTRIKE Kickboxing has been an
energizing, highly effective and easy to follow form of exercise. Experience the original
and true martial art-fitness fusion.
FRIDAY 1:30-3PM

shapes in space. Explore how to bring the
Hundred to life more strongly in your own
body and how the Hundred relates to all of
the abdominal five!

TriggerPoint™ For Movement: Hip and
Shoulder Mobility (ws)
Susane Pata
Can your body move? Unfortunately most
people can’t move where it matters the
most. The hips and shoulders are designed
to be some of the most mobile areas of
the human movement system, but they
often lock up creating a cycle of improper
movement patterns and injuries. Normal
functional activities, such as walking,
require extension, flexion, and rotation of
the hips and shoulders. If this can’t occur,
the nervous system will alter the spine or
the gait itself. Learn how to quickly identify
these patterns and how to properly address
these areas with self-myofascial release. This
advanced approach is focused on creating
the myofascial relationships necessary to
optimize movement, preventing injury and
prepping the body to perform at its best.

The latest craze in rope training is AEROROPES! This class is designed to burn up to

elderly and physically challenged participants.
These workouts are also driven by rhythm
and music that makes them exciting and fun
to do. Think drumming to the beats!!

27
your arm… your heart pounds against your
chest… then a smile widens on your face,
drawn by the energy of the riders and class
around you… your interval has now started!

SUNDAY 3:30-5PM
bodyART™ Strength/Myofascial (ws)
Robert Steinbacher, Julia Przybilka, Janni
Giannikakis
The holistic program bodyART™ Strength/
Myofascial class is based on the 5 elements
of the Traditional Chinese Medicine. The
human being is trained as a unity of body,
mind and soul. The focus of this training lies
on a deeper understanding and relationship
between the fascias (the connective tissue
which connects the entire body like a net and
covers all muscles and organs). When trained
properly with trigger point therapy, the training can have an immense and positive effect
on the body and the mind.
Aeroropes (ws)
Lisa Gaylord
The latest craze in rope training is AEROROPES! This class is designed to burn up to
800 calories per workout. AEROROPES trains
the neuromuscular system to apply force that
begins at the core and extends through the
28
session
descriptions
extremities. AEROROPES was designed for
the Group Exercise community that wanted
to use ropes but traditional ropes are too big
and too heavy. This is a low to no impact
workout that places minimal stress on the
joints, and because AEROROPES is lightweight (5lbs), it can be used by kids, the
elderly and physically challenged participants.
These workouts are also driven by rhythm
and music that makes them exciting and fun
to do. Think drumming to the beats!!
IN-LIGHT-IN® (ws)

Join Nora for an uplifting and enlightening
end to an incredible weekend. You will
experience relaxing breathing techniques, a
beautiful stress reducing, creative visualization, a higher chakra meditation, a candle

We are
HERE
– Alicia Keys
We are here
We are here for all of us
We are here for all of us
It’s why we are here, why we are here
We are here
Bombs over Baghdad
Tryna get something we never heard
Let’s start with a good dad
So real but it’s so sad
And while we’re burning this incense
We gon’ pray for the innocent
Cause right now it don’t make sense
Right now it don’t make sense
Let’s talk about chi-town
Let’s talk about Gaza
Let’s talk about
Let’s talk about Israel
Right now it is real
Let’s talk about
Let’s talk Nigeria, and the mass hysteria
Our souls are brought together so that
we could love each other brother
We are here
We are here for all of us
We are here for all of us
It’s why we are here, why we are here
We are here
No guns made in Harlem
But yet Crime is a problem
He wanna shine, he wanna rob ‘em
Single mother, where they come from?
How we gonna save the nation
With no support for education
Cause right now it don’t make sense
Right now it don’t make sense
Let’s talk about our part
My heart touch your heart
Let’s talk about
Let’s talk about living
Had enough of dying
Not what we all about
Let’s do more giving
Do more forgiving, yeah
Our souls are brought together so that
we can love each other sister
We are here
We are here for all of us
We are here for all of us
It’s why we are here, why we are here
We are here
We are here
We are here for all of us
We are here for all of us
It’s why we are here, why we are here
We are here
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
We are here
We are here for all of us
We are here for all of us
It’s why we are here, why we are here
We are here
We are here
We are here for all of us
We are here for all of us
