Young Americans Center for Financial Education is committed to developing the
financial literacy of young people through real-life experiences and hands-on
programs purposefully designed to enable them to prosper in our free enterprise
system. These programs include:
Young AmeriTowne is a hands-on lesson in free enterprise that
provides students the opportunity to run their own life-like town.
Students apply and interview for jobs, elect a mayor and judge, create
laws, manage bank accounts, act as producers and consumers and
experience free enterprise first-hand.
Rural AmeriTowne, modeled after Young AmeriTowne, has been
adapted to a rural economy. Its ten businesses simulate those found in a
small town. Located in Wray, Colorado, this program reaches students
from northeastern Colorado and across the Kansas and Nebraska
borders.
International Towne helps middle school “world citizens” become
better prepared for the financial realities of the global marketplace.
International Towne illustrates the role of free enterprise in the global
economy and teaches an array of international economic concepts
including interdependence, world trade, foreign currency exchange and importing and
exporting. Cultural awareness and career exploration round-out the program.
Summer Programs - Young AmeriTowne and International Towne are also available
during the summer. Other summer fun-ancial programs include Girls Can, Running
Your Own Biz, Be Your Own Boss, Junior Money Matters, and Young AmeriTowne2. These week-long programs offer skills for participants interested in entrepreneurship, personal finance, financial responsibility and global economics.
The Founding Framework is a 10-hour, in-depth, projectbased curriculum to expose students to the joys and
challenges of entrepreneurship. Through blended learning that includes hands-on activities, simulations, and interactions with real entrepreneurs, 7th through 12th grade students learn the ins and outs of starting a business and how to take it to the next level.
BuildersLab.org is an online community of curious and inspired minds. It is a place to
explore, create, share ideas, start a business, grow a business, and much more.
Business owners ages 6-21 sell their products and practice their selling skills to the local
community at the annual Young Entrepreneurs Marketplaces in April and December.
The Celebration for Young Entrepreneurs youth business competition awards cash
prizes, business service packages, and mentorship to entrepreneurs ages 6 to 21. Applications are due each June.
Young Americans Bank is the world’s first and only state-chartered,
member FDIC bank just for young people under 22. It educates customers
in the proper use of bank services and teaches personal financial
responsibilities through hands-on experience with actual banking products.

Young AmeriTowne Volunteer Opportunities!
On the day of AmeriTowne, we can use up to 17 volunteers; one for each of the 17 Young AmeriTowne businesses.
Volunteers are encouraged to participate in an orientation to familiarize themselves with the Young AmeriTowne program and
with the procedures involved with the actual Towne operation. Volunteers are expected to arrive 30 minutes before the
students to be familiarized with AmeriTowne. Please contact your child’s teacher to express your interest in volunteering
and orientation packets. A volunteer webinar is available on our website, www.yacenter.org, please allow yourself
20-25 minutes to watch the video.
