Jenny Rose: It’s a modern love story of star crossed lovers with parents who hate each other and bands that hate each other’s respective musical styles. They are at war with each other, yet the lovers can not stay away from each other. FringeNYC Propaganda: Do you feel that the Louisiana heritage explored here is important? Jenny Rose: Louisiana culture is mysterious and fascinating, especially in light of the recent tragedy. FringeNYC seems to absorb so many cultures and nationalities from all over the world. We are pleased to participate. FringeNYC Propaganda: So Aaron, what inspired you to incorporate Louisiana culture into this play? Aaron Latham: Well, I grew up in Texas and summered in Louisiana. While there, I listened to a lot of Louisiana music. The first musical by Ryan D Mayer I did was based on country music. Here, I was looking for a music type that would really shake people’s minds. Zydeco came to mind – its instruments are unfamiliar to theater audiences. FringeNYC Propaganda: Would our FringeNYC Propaganda readers recognize any of your other works? Aaron Latham: I wrote the John Travolta movie, Urban Cowboy. FringeNYC Propaganda: What has been the most exciting part of FringeNYC so far? Aaron: I’d say the midnight podcast.
