California border, and 500 river miles on the Columbia, Willamette, and Snake Rivers.

Ship Inspections -The U.S. and foreign vessel inspection programs
Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety reduces the threat of injury/death of
fishermen
Investigations – The Investigations Department is charged with identifying
the causes of marine casualties and determining how to prevent them in the
future. Investigations also detects and suppresses federal law violations.
Waterways Management is responsible for processing all marine event
permit applications, writing Security Zones, Safety Zones and other Regulated
Navigation Areas, and hazardous bar management

causes, and initiate the necessary corrective
