adventure activities like para-sailing, paratrooping, mountaineering, horse riding,
swimming etc. In the three years of training
a cadet can attend different types of camps
in and out of Delhi. After attending the camp
a cadet can appear for 'B' or 'C' certificate
examination. Those students who wish to
join the NCC can fill up the enrolment forms
during the month of August.

January and an annual get-together on the
1st Sunday of April, in the college lawns. It
helps to promote the interest of the ex
students in alma mater and to keep in touch
with the teachers and present students
through various activities. The Association
also organizes Freshers' Welcome for both
evening and morning college students along
with various talent search programmes.

Yes, you are right when you say that
Literature is imagination, riot of words, that
lifts you to a world of its own, but, calm
down… it goes beyond the obvious. It tells
us the ideals of a people, like the Greek
ideals of beauty in perishable stone, their
ideals of truth in imperishable prose and
poetry, which made them what they were
and which determined their value to future
generations. Literature preserves these
ideals. Our whole civilization, our freedom,
rests solidly upon ideals for their
foundation. Literature invites you to
“understand life, to appreciate living and
therefore to participate in life to the fullest
of your potential” (Eric Chock). The students
are encouraged to develop analytical and
critical understanding of literature, where
they learn to read a text to uncover what it is
not saying, to deconstruct the truth which
operates behind the structures of meaning.
The program prepares the student for career
in mass communication, journalism,
management, civil services, creative
writing, theater and academics. The English
Faculty provides personalized instruction
and guidance to the students. The world is

Department of Economics
Economics is a study of how social choices
are made in the production and distribution
of goods required for satisfying our material
needs. The focus of the discipline and the
course is on giving to the students the tools
required for rigorous and abstract analysis,
which forms the mainstay of modern
theoretical economics. A student doing the
honours programme will be well equipped to
enter a postgraduate programme in any
Indian university, or a university outside
India. An honours degree in Economics also
gives a good grounding for entering the civil
service, banking and financial services sector,
or the corporate sector. It is an intellectually
demanding course, and is one of the most
sought after courses in Delhi University.
The faculty of the Department of Economics
consists of highly qualified and experienced
teachers.

Department of Mathematics
Department of Environmental Studies
"There is no philosophy which is not
founded upon knowledge of the
phenomena, but to get any profit from
this knowledge, it is absolutely necessary
to be a mathematician"—Daniel Bernoulli
The Department of Environmental Studies
has been recently established after the
introduction of the Compulsory 4 credit Core
Course on Environmental Studies with
effect from Session 2014-15.
The subject-Mathematics demands certain
key qualities in the student. The skill
required for studying this subject are
intellectual curiosity, analytical brain and
clear concepts. The one who is a blend of
these qualities, should go for this course.
The syllabus enables the student to explore
a few major areas of mathematics like
algebra, analysis, geometry, topology,
differential equations, number theory,
probability and their combinations. In the
new syllabus, one of the components is
practicals and lab work. It gives exposure to
students about the application of
mathematics which is one of the strongest
and motivational aspects of this subject.
Through practicals they come to know how
mathematical methods are used extensively
in economics, computers, engineering,
actuarial sciences medicine, agriculture,
architecture, arts and all other fields of
modern knowledge.
Besides teaching and research, a
mathematically trained student through
this course has opportunities in computing,
economics, finance, banking, market
research analysis, space studies and
oceanography—to name a few.
The faculty consists of dedicated and
experienced teachers.
Besides classroom teaching the department
showcases documentaries on
environmental issues and regularly
organizes field visits to various sites of
environmental importance such as Sanjay
Van, Yamuna Biodiversity Park, Okhla
Bird Sanctuary, Deer Park and Sultan
Garhi Tomb Area.

The course aims to improve the language
skills of the learners in order to equip them
with better communicative, creative,
analytical and critical abilities. It also aims
to enable him to appreciate different forms
and genre of literature and to become aware
of the rich intellectual tradition of India.
Those who want to take Sanskrit as a
secondary subject would also be benefitted
with papers of Language, Literature, Vedic
Mathematics & Astronomy, Science of
Debate & Logic, and Aesthetics which would
be extremely helpful for various career
options. Efforts are made to prepare such
course which may help students to get wider
job- opportunities. The faculty consists of
following dedicated and experienced
teachers.

Department of Sanskrit
Usually, Sanskrit has been deemed merely
as a classical language of India. But this
aspect of language is just the tip of the
iceberg. Our present syllabus covers most of
the aspects of Sanskrit to project it as a
subject rather than as a language. The three

making one aware of the fact that Sanskrit
is the gateway of the ancient Indian wisdom
Department of Statistics, offers a degree
