The Bohning Company was founded in 1946 by Rollin Bohning. He was a research chemist & avid archer who had become dissatisfied with the cements available to bond broadheads to hunting shafts. He developed Ferr-L-Tite™ adhesive for adhering hardware to wood & aluminum shafts. The product formulation has undergone several changes over the decades, but Ferr-L-Tite™ is still the industry standard today. Throughout the late 1940s & early 1950s, Rollin Bohning continued to develop successful solutions for archers, including Doug Easton & Fred Bear, with whom he had become friends. Their collaboration led to the development of Bohning Fletch-Tite® Platinum™ fletching cement, a product so effective that nearly every archer has used it since its inception. In the early 1970s, Rollin Bohning semi-retired from the growing company, & Colby & Martha Johnson became chief administrators. They guided the company throughout the 1970s & most of the 1980s, during which time Bohning Fletch-Tite® Vanes were introduced. Larry Griffith became president of the company in 1987 when the Johnsons semi-retired. Bohning vanes continued to evolve & in 2004 the Blazer® vane was invented. This vane has been the top vane on the market since its inception & continues to be the world’s #1 vane. True to its founding principles, The Bohning Company, Ltd. continues to innovate new products that help solve problems in the industries it serves. For used shafts (refletching): Remove old vanes, wraps & glue with “The Stripper” by Bohning. To remove sticky residue, spray Bohning Limoxyl on shaft & wipe with lint free towel until all residue is removed. 2) Clean shaft with Bohning SSR & scrub with abrasive pad. Rinse under HOT running water & let air dry. 3) Install inserts with one of Bohning’s adhesives: Ferr-l-tite, Ferr-l-tite Cool Flex, Insert Iron, Instant Gel or Blazer® Bond. Reference Guide The “ Stripper ” 46 Limoxyl Ferr-L-Tite & Cool Flex SSR Insert Iron Dipping Paint Thickness: Using a spare arrow shaft, dip into paint, pull out & time how long it takes the paint to stream off of the shaft. It should take about 15-20 seconds before it slows from a flow to a drip. If paint Streams Less than 15-20 seconds: The paint is too thick. Use proper Bohning thinner to dilute the paint. If paint Streams More than 15-20 seconds: The paint is too thin. Add more paint to dilute the thinner. Dipping Recommendations: Crown dipping makes cresting colors pop & brightens shaft appearance. 1) Pour Bohning Fletch-Lac or Acry-Lac paint into dip tube, wait at least 1 hour to allow bubbles to rise (pop bubbles before dipping). 2) Assemble arrow hanger & insert desired amount of shafts into spaces. 3) Insert Dip’N Plug ring to non-swedged end shaft ends. 4) Dip arrows & allow paint to drip off shaft into dip tube before hanging to dry. For better “single layer coverage” dip arrow shaft & lift out of paint. Allow paint to start dripping then dip again right away. Place adhesive side up on semi-soft surface (mouse pad). 2) Align shaft with edge of wrap & roll with steady motion & downward pressure. 3) Place index fletching over the wrap seam to help secure the wrap.
