Welcome to the Tri-Community YMCA where we are about youth development,
healthy living and social responsibility. The YMCA staff team has been serving
the greater Tri-Community area and Northeast Connecticut since 1882.
Our programs and services have helped countless individuals and families to
achieve their goals and be a part of a diverse community. The YMCA and its
supporters have worked tirelessly to keep our dynamic program and
membership offerings accessible and affordable to all. As an integral part of
our community, we strive for excellence in our services. Please take the
opportunity to tour our impressive facilities and meet our awesome staff!

■ Hiring Requirements
We have a comprehensive preemployment screening procedure
that includes:
■ YMCA job application
■ Minimum of 3 checked references
■ Personal interview with YMCA
supervisor
■ CORI/SORI checks
■ Minimum age is 16
■ Staff Certifications
All staff are required to have current CPR, First Aid and AED certification
■ Specialty staff (i.e. lifeguards)

All staff are required to successfully
complete a program-specific orientation focusing on discipline, supervision, policies, procedures, YMCA
Staff Code of Conduct and child
abuse prevention.
■ YMCA Staff Policies
In order to protect YMCA staff,
volunteers and program participants, the YMCA recommends that at
no time during a YMCA program may
a staff person be alone with a single
child where they cannot be observed
■
by others.
■ Staff shall never leave a child
unsupervised.
■ Staff must use positive techniques
of guidance, including redirection,
positive reinforcement and encouragement rather than competition,
comparison and criticism. Staff will
have age-appropriate expectations
and set up guidelines and environments that minimize the need for
discipline.
Staff respond to children with
respect and consideration and treat
all children equally, regardless of
sex, race, religion or culture.

■ Staff will serve as positive role
models for youth by performing
duties with respect, loyalty, patience,
courtesy, tact and maturity.
■ Staff may not be alone with children they meet in YMCA programs
outside of the YMCA. This includes
babysitting, sleepovers and inviting
children to your home. Any exceptions require a written explanation
before the fact and are subject to
administrator approval.
■ Staff are not to transport children
in their own vehicles. Any exceptions
require supervisor approval.
■ Staff communicate frequently with
parents regarding day-to-day activities and encourage parents to report
or question any behavior or event
their child may share that appears
out of the ordinary.
■ Parents can visit, unannounced, any
program their child participates in.
■ All YMCA Staff are mandated
reporters of child abuse and neglect.
■ Teen Facility Use
■ On all days, except Tuesdays,
teens under 16 who are in the building without a parent/legal guardian
will be asked to leave the YMCA by
7:00 p.m. Teens who are in the building with a parent/legal guardian will
have no restrictions on the times they
are allowed to be in the building.
Teens who are enrolled in a YMCA
program will be allowed to stay in the
YMCA until the program is over. All
gym and pool schedules will be as
posted.
■ Youth Membership
Guidelines
Youth members are not allowed in
the YMCA building unless he or she
is participating in a scheduled youth
YMCA program or activity, or is
accompanied by a parent or legal

guardian.
■
Policies

■ Card Identification
We ask that you swipe your card at the Member
Service Desk on your arrival. Presentation of
your card will be required for use of the
facility. Members with forgotten cards will be
allowed to sign in after verification of active
membership, and purchase of a new card will be
required to replace lost cards.
■ Parking
The driveway up to the front of the building must
not be used as a pick-up or drop-off area. This
area is strictly reserved. Please do not park in the
handicap spaces or the fire lane. We strongly urge
all parents with children under the age of 13 to
take a moment and park in the appropriate designated area and escort their child(ren) to their program area or class. The YMCA is not responsible
for the children until they arrive at the class.
■ Payment
Membership may be paid annually (in full), by
Bank Draft or by using our payment plan. Bank
Draft is available to all new and existing members. By filling out a brief form, this will authorize the Tri-Community YMCA to make monthly
withdrawals from either your Statement Savings
Account, Checking Account, or credit card. With
our payment plan, the first payment is due upon
registration; subsequent payments are due in
quarterly increments. Payment may be made by
cash, check, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or
American Express. Membership payments must
be made on time. All Membership payments past
due 30 days will result in termination. There is a
one-time $50.00 processing fee. This fee is for
ALL new members excluding youth and teen memberships. This fee will also apply to all members,
excluding youth and teen who have let their
membership lapse for 30 days or more. Fee is
waived for paying in full.
All memberships are NON-TRANSFERABLE.
■ Session Registration
Payment — Member cards must be present and
full payment must be made at the time of registration. We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard,
American Express, and Discover.
Times — Available during business hours on the
days listed. In person, mail or fax for members.
In person only for non-members. No phone registrations. Confirmations for fax registrations
will not be sent.
Make-up — Only for classes cancelled or postponed by the YMCA.
Credit — Only issued for individuals withdrawing from classes at the discretion of the director
or when the Y cannot make up class. Credit slips
must be presented at registration.
■ Waitlist Policy
If you or your child has been waitlisted for a class
and the YMCA calls to put you or your child in
that class, you will pay a prorated amount based
on the number of classes remaining. We must hear
from you within 24 hours after we have called you
from the waitlist.
■ Locker Rooms
Mens/Womens: for high school age & older.
Boys/Girls: for youth under high school age.
Health Center: Health Center members only.
No one under 18 allowed. A parent with an
opposite sex child should use the Family
Changing Room. A mother with a daughter
and a father with a son may also use the
respective girls or boys locker rooms. YMCA
members and program participants are
responsible for securing their lockers with
their own locks. Lockers are day lockers only.
People should not leave locks on overnight.
■ Financial Assistance
The Y believes in providing the opportunity
to join for those who may not be able to
afford yearly dues. Limited funds are available to subsidize membership. Applications
are available at the front desk.
■ Guest Pass Policy
Members ages 18 and older may purchase guest
passes for non-members. Members are required
to be with their non-member guests while they
are using the YMCA facility. Members may purchase a maximum of two (2) guest passes per
day. Members are fully responsible for the behavior of their guests while they are using the YMCA
facility. Non-members are strictly forbidden from
purchasing a guest pass without being the guest
of a member age 18 and older. Guest passes are
valid for the day of purchase only. Youth/Senior
Citizen $4; Teen/Adult $10 • Family $15.
■ Membership Freeze Policy
Members who are unable to use their membership due to medical reasons and/or departure from the geographical area are allowed
to apply to “freeze” their membership. This
can be done only in 30-day increments.
Applications are available at the member
service desk and are subject to approval by
the Membership Director.
■ Program Credits and Refunds
Refunds will only be made if the program or
class is canceled by the YMCA. See Session
Registration for more information.
■ Racquetball Court Rules
Reservations for court time may be made on the
day of play by calling the YMCA front desk.
Reservations will only be accepted for TriCommunity YMCA members. The names of all
players will be requested. Members will be limited to one 60-minute time period reservation per
day. If players reserving the courts are not in the
court 10 minutes after the start time period,
then the court is available to the next two players to sign at the front desk. Non-members may
not reserve the courts; however, they may play
with a member after paying the daily guest fee.
Players under the age of 13 must be with a parent or legal guardian.

Exercise your Options
High impact, low impact. Morning, evening. Cardiac program, personal training. Free weights, Nautilus, basketball,
racquetball. You want it, we’ve got it. Whether you’re into working out alone or as part of a team, the health and
fitness offerings at the Tri-Community YMCA meet the needs of just about everybody. All our fitness classes are
taught by certified instructors and include warm-up activity, flexibility exercises, strength exercise, cardiovascular
endurance activity and cool down.
Fitness Orientation
Are you a new member or someone who needs a refresher? If so, schedule a free appointment with a
Fitness Instructor in the Fitness Center. You will learn how to operate the equipment properly and
safely. Contact John Zienowicz (508-765-5466 x116) or walk in to the Fitness Center to schedule
an appointment.
Fitness Center
The Fitness Center offers 20 Nautilus Nitro machines as well as more than 50 pieces of cardio
equipment and a full-service free weight area. Trained instructors will supervise the center
during operational hours. We recommend that you attend a free orientation with a staff
member in order to learn proper use of the equipment, basic exercise principles, and training
benefits. Exercise-appropriate footwear is required at all times. No bare feet, open-toed sandals, or flip-flops. See Family Fitness Policy. Ages 13 and up only.
Family Fitness
These are special times for people ages 9-12 to accompany adult/teen members in the fitness center for a workout. Each member ages 9-12 MUST be accompanied at all times by his/her parent or legal guardian. Members ages
9-12 may use the cardiovascular equipment only (treadmills, elliptical cross-trainers, rowers, steppers & bikes).
Members ages 9-12 are required to meet with Fitness Staff prior to using the equipment to learn how to safely
operate the equipment. FREE for YMCA members. 7/1 - 8/29 Tuesday & Thursday 1-3:00 p.m.,

Friday 6-8:00 p.m., Saturday 8-11:00 a.m.
Fitness Center Rules
■ BE CARING
Show courtesy to fellow
exercisers. Help out others
if they are having difficulty
with an exercise.
■ BE HONEST
Follow the established rules
for all of the equipment.
Uphold the 30-minute time
limit on all cardiovascular
machines. No food or soft
drinks allowed in the
fitness center. Ask for help
when needed.
■ BE RESPECTFUL
Spray and wipe down all
equipment after use. If performing multiple sets, please
invite others to work in with
you during rest periods.
Avoid the use of offensive
language.
■ BE RESPONSIBLE
Replace all weights,
equipment, magazines and
racks to proper places
when finished. Leave all
personal belongings locked
up in the locker rooms.

Fitness Evaluation
Why guess what your fitness level is when you can get
the facts you need to be your best? Tests include: Resting blood
pressure, body composition, heart rate recovery test, muscle strength &
endurance test, resting heart rate, aerobic capacity test, flexibility test.
You will receive a written report detailing your results. You will meet
with John Zienowicz, who will explain your results and your fitness program. Free for YMCA members • Non-members: $40.00

Do you need to get to the next level? Let our trainers get “personal”
with you and your workout. We are here for you and your goals. If this

Grab a workout buddy or two and share your costs, cheer each other
on, and achieve your goals! Time must be used in one-hour increments.

Body Composition
It is not how much you weigh that is important but rather how much
percentage of body fat that is on your body. Schedule an appointment
with John Zienowicz at x116 to learn your percentages. The method of
testing used will be the skinfold caliper. You will also find out where you
rank for your age, where you should be AND how to get there.

Camp Foskett Biathlon
This will be held July 13 and will include a 1/2 mile swim and a 5K Trail
Run. The event is being held to raise money for the YMCA Sustaining
Drive. We will be hosting training sessions for both running and swimming prior to the Biathlon. Check our website and bulletin board for
more information.
Aerobics & Fitness
■ Adult Yoga
Regular yoga practice increases strength, flexibility, joint mobility, balance, and concentration. Yoga has been medically proven
to reduce stress and enhance recovery. Learn yogic breathing
exercises, postures, and sun & moon salutations. Participants
are encouraged to work at their individual comfort level.
For all yoga classes, please do not eat heavily for 90 minutes before class. Please bring a yoga mat to class.

■ Qigong
Qigong literally means energy cultivation. This class is perfect
for beginners who want to learn how to cultivate their own
energy, open meridians, move qi, and help to restore health and
well-being through visualization, correct body alignment and
fire path breath. Very effective for people with arthritis, hypertension, stress, diabetes, cancer recovery, fibromyalgia, parkinsons, and depression. Tuesdays 11:00-12:00 p.m.

Focusing on abdominals, obliques, and spinal stabilizers, we will

This is a Beginner/Intermediate level class that uses steps,
weights, resistance tubing, and exercise balls. A great total

You provide the Bosu and we’ll provide a workout that fires an
amazing amount of muscle fibers while building strength,
endurance, balance, stability, and cardio! This is a new innovative approach to the full-body workout! A challenging total body
workout for the glutes, hips, thighs, upper body and core using
a Bosu Balance Trainer, adding balance challenges to traditional
exercises while getting your heart pumping. Max 10 people per

When it comes to body sculpting, the Zumba Toning program
raises the bar. It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises
and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba® moves
to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness
party. Students learn how to use light weights to enhance
rhythm and tone all their target zones, including arms, abs,
glutes, and thighs. The Zumba Toning class is the perfect way
for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a
total blast.

■ Body Fit
Tough, straightforward muscle work for lean muscle definition
and better body confidence. Uses a variety of strength training
devices such as: free weights, bands, exercise balls, and medicine balls. Also includes a series of drills and "boot camp" style
exercises to get your heart rate pumping! A diverse, sweatin’
good time.

All fitness classes can accommodate various levels — please see instructor first. No children allowed on fitness equipment or in the
gym during aerobic classes. As always, proper footwear is required. Non-participants are not allowed in the gym during aerobic classes.

Personal Wellness
The YMCA is committed to educating our members on healthy lifestyles and
eating habits. Personal Wellness means that we encourage both exercise and
nutrition to help you lose weight, prevent chronic disease, improve athletic
performance, learn how to feed your family or just simply feel better. Our
Licensed Nutritionist will show you how a few small changes can impact how you
feel. Take yourself on a personal nutrition journey to navigate the latest diets and
research. Find out what your personal limitations, obstacles, motivations, and
desires are and break through and succeed in changing your eating habits.
Your appointment with the nutritionist may include:
• Analysis of your current eating habits
• Discussion of your short- and long-term nutrition goals
• Personalized nutrition plan designed to help you achieve your goals
• Recipes and educational materials to take home with you
Follow-up appointments will help you stay on track and receive the support
that you need for success.
There are two different options offered for your convenience.
1. Nutrition Counseling: Meet with your Licensed Nutritionist to come up
with a nutrition plan customized for you. 2. Total Wellness: Combine sessions with a Licensed Nutritionist and a Certified Personal Trainer.

■ Interactive Youth Fitness Center

The Interactive Youth Fitness Center is
designed to be a fun, safe place for children ages 6-12 to come and play with
our interactive gaming equipment and
receive the benefits of a cardiovascular
and strength training workout. The center is fully staffed by YMCA employees
only during hours of operation.
• Exercise-appropriate footwear is
required at all times. No bare feet, opentoed sandals, or flip-flops.
• No food or drinks other than water are
allowed in the Interactive Youth Fitness
Center.
*Children must be registered to participate
at the front desk prior to using the
Interactive Youth Fitness Center.

Fee: Free to YMCA Members; Non-members

Ages: 6-12 years old. Parents must sign
their children in and out of the program
with the Youth Fitness Center staff.

interactive gaming device. Hand-eye coordination, cardio and strength training happen while
playing: “Knock the Lights Out,” “Rally Wall,”
“Chase the Target,” and “Play That Tune.”
■ Hoist - Strength Training Machines - This
9 piece strength training circuit has been
specially designed for kids and their bodies’
needs. A full body workout tailored to kids.
■ Xavix - Boxing - One-on-one fight for
the title or get a great workout in one of
the training games.
■ Xavix - Tennis - Singles or Doubles.

for fun or for glory!
■ XB Dueler - Virtual Snowboard

■ Child Watch
Welcome to our Child Watch services. We are open for your
convenience Monday through Saturday mornings. Hours are
M - F 8:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; Saturdays are 7:45 a.m. - 11:30
a.m. Our evening hours are Monday through Thursday nights,
4:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. You must purchase a punch card at the
front desk in increments of either $5 or $10. We keep our
prices low at $1.50/hr/child, making it possible for you to
enjoy our beautiful Fitness Center. There is a 2 hour time limit
for use of the services. Children ages 3 months - 10 years are
welcome. No charge for YMCA Family Memberships.

Child Watch is expanding its program for
the summer. Our Kids at Play program will be available for
children who have completed kindergarten through age 12.
The program will run from 8:30-10:30 a.m., Monday through

Camp Foskett
At Camp Foskett we are proud of our
camping program. Our extensive list of
action-packed recreational activities are
offered on our wooded 114 acre campsite.
■ Campers are grouped by ages (5-11)
The camp is divided into a blue and a yellow unit. Every tribe is staffed
by two counselors. Each tribe is named after a Native American tribe.
Fee: $120/wk for Members; $168/wk for Non-Members.
■ Senior Campers at Foskett (12-13)
Our senior camping program offers older campers a chance to continue
and expand on their camping experience. This program includes field
trips to museums, other camps and other points of interest. All trips are
included in camper fee. Senior campers must qualify for field trips.
Qualifying includes demonstrating good campership.
Fee: $136/wk Member; $183/wk Non-Member.
■ C.I.T. Program (14 & 15 yrs)
Camp also has a Counselor-in-Training Program for interviewed and
accepted teens aged 14+. This program trains young people to
become counselors. Those interested must fill out an application
from the Y and return it to Jim Flynn no later than June 18th. This
will be followed by an interview. Only a limited number of applicants
will be accepted. The cost is $94.00 per week. We are proud of the
fact that many of our counselors and staff administrators
were at one time campers here at Foskett.

• A shower is required before swimming (Mandate).
• No one allowed in the pool with a communicable disease (Mandate).
• Regular bathing suits required; no cut-offs or thongs.
• Lifeguard rules must be obeyed at all times.
• No running on the pool deck or in hallways to locker rooms.
• No diving allowed in shallow end of the pool.
• Blocks are ONLY to be used by swim teams under supervision.
• No glass containers of any kind permitted in pool area or locker rooms.
• No food or drink allowed in pool; water in plastic bottles is permitted.
• No chewing gum or candy while swimming or in the pool area.
• No playing or hanging on shallow lane divider or lane lines.
• Children under age 6 must be accompanied by an adult in the water.
• Children wearing bubbles will be permitted in the deep end with their
parents at the discretion of the lifeguard.
• No toys, fish mats, noodles, balls allowed in the deep end.
• Enter the water facing forward, no back flips.
• Abusive language will not be tolerated.
• No holding onto other people while swimming.
• Swimmers not complying with the lifeguard rules will be given a time out and if necessary, asked to leave.
Many people consider our six-lane, 25-yard pool to be the heart of the Tri-Community
YMCA. Our extensive aquatics program has earned an excellent reputation. We offer
introductory swimming classes for absolute beginners, serious competition for advanced
swimmers and everything in between.

looking to increase their flexibility, range of motion and
improve their coordination without putting stress on
their joints and muscles. A perfect class for those with
Arthritis, muscular difficulties or who are recovering

the class is held in the water, swimming ability is not
necessary to participate in this program.

South Pond Swim Lessons
The Tri-Community YMCA and the
Town of Brookfield will once again be
offering afternoon swimming lessons
at the South Pond Beach. These lessons are for children ages 3-14. All
swim levels will be offered. Lessons
will run from Monday - Friday from
1:00-3:00 p.m. July 14 - July 25 and
the beach will be guarded during this
time. (No rain make ups). Please register at the front desk from June 16July 7. Cost: $40 members, $30 each

Our year round progressive swimming
classes were developed by the
National YMCA Aquatic Program. We
teach the fundamentals of swimming
and challenge each swimmer to move
through the levels at his/her own
pace. It is not unusual for a child to
repeat a level multiple times. We
need a minimum of four students to
run a class. If we have to cancel a
class you will be offered an alternative class, credit, or a refund.
Here are some guidelines to help you
place your children into the appropriate swimming level:
• Polliwog: Beginner level. No
swimming skills are necessary. Same
as Pike/Eel for ages 6+.
• Guppy I: Already puts their face in
the water; floats; knows elementary
backstroke and breaststroke arms;
will learn front crawl arms, backstroke, and sidestroke. Can
swim/jump into the deep end without
assistance. Same as Ray/Starfish
ages 6+.
• Guppy II: Is already not afraid of
the water; can front/back float, and
tread water, without assistance. Can
swim the length (75 feet) half on
front, half on back; can swim all the
Guppy I strokes independently for 50
feet.
• Minnow: Already can dive in the
deep end without assistance and
recover. Should be able to swim front
crawl 75 feet at least half with timed
rotary breathing, as well as breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and
backstroke. Sidestroke requires only
45 feet.
• Fish: Can already float on their
front for 3 minutes; tread water for
1.5 minutes; swim front crawl nonstop with perfect timing 50 yards; all
other strokes 25 yards. Should
already know the whip kick for
breaststroke and elementary backstroke, and the scissor kick for sidestroke. Strokes are beginning to be
redefined at this level; Minnows
develop skills and learn kicks that
Fish need to build off of.
• Flying Fish: Can tread water with
the three proper kicks; swim 75 yards
front crawl with open turns; all
strokes for 50 yards coordinated
(front crawl/backstroke body roll, and
breaststroke/sidestroke/
elementary backstroke glides. Knows
butterfly (dolphin) kick.
• Shark: Can swim all strokes 100
yards; sidestroke alternating sides;
flip turns; basic butterfly.

This is for children who

swim on the swim team
someday. We will work on
endurance, stroke improvement and team work. Swim
meets are available. Prereq:
25 yards front crawl with
rotary breathing. 2 week free
trial period. Members only

Swim Team offers speed
training, endurance and
competitions. The team
competes all over New
England. Newcomers must
swim 2 laps of crawl with

■ Masters
Swim Team
Masters Swim Team is for
people 19 years of age and
above who would like to
train in the pool. We have
set up practices; we go to
swim meets (optional). There
will be a coach available to
work on strokes at practice.
Our meet season is from
September to April.

■ Open Lap Swimming Time
Please check the pool schedule at the
front desk. Lap swimmers must be 13
years of age or older. Circle swimming
will be utilized at all times during lap
swim. This is so we can accommodate
more lap swimmers and keep all swimmers safe. Circle swimming does not
limit your strokes or speed (or lack of
speed). Look for swimmers of equal ability in the pool and join their lane. Circle
swimming is to swim down on the right
side and swim back on the right side.
Just remember to stay right. If there are
two people, you may swim side by side,
but remember if more people come in,
you may have to circle. At the times
when there is only lap swim in the pool,
we will have two lanes set aside for
leisure lap. Leisure lap is for those who
can’t swim in the deep end, need help, or
are walking. Please check at the front
desk for the current lap swim schedule,
as it does change.
This is for high school students and
adults who want to learn how to swim
or just to improve their skills. It is
never too late to learn to swim. Even if
you are afraid of the water, we have
instructors who will help you overcome
your fears and perfect your strokes.

■ Family Swims
Family swims are open to members
and will be offered every day of the
week during the 8 week sessions
(There will be a schedule posted of
the times). Family swims are generally
shared with another activity, i.e. lap
swim or water exercise. Children
under the age of 6 MUST have a
parent in the water with them and be
within arms reach of each other. If
your child cannot stand in the shallow
end with their head above water, they
will be required to wear a red wristband and a life jacket.
Children age 6 and older do not
have to have a parent in the water
with them; however, the parent
must remain in the building.

planner will make sure your
party is a blast for your child
and easy on you. Your party will
consist of 1 hour in the party
room and 1 hour in the pool.
Your party coordinator will help
your party run smoothly from
start to finish. The Y will provide tables, chairs, balloons,
invitations, and a t-shirt for the
birthday child. You are responsible for decorations and food if
you choose.

This NAEYC accredited program provides full
day early education and care for infants, toddlers and preschool age children. Our program
has a special emphasis on making children feel
“at home” by providing a supportive, nurturing
environment. The daily schedule provides a
developmentally appropriate curriculum presented through opportunities for exploration
and hands-on learning of school readiness
skills. Our preschool classrooms are proud
recipients of the Universal Preschool Grant.
This additional funding has given us the
opportunity to provide enrichment and other
programmatic opportunities for our preschoolers to maximize all areas of their development.

The YMCA operates a family child care system of
approximately thirty providers. Family child care
has many benefits including small group sizes,
continuity of care and flexibility in schedule.
Parents have the ability to choose from a variety
of settings and locations to best meet their
child’s and the family’s needs. Each provider is
licensed by the Department of Early Education
and Care and visited by a YMCA home visitor on a
regular basis.

■ Membership Freeze Policy
Members who are unable to use their membership due to medical reasons and/or departure from the geographical area are
allowed to apply to “freeze” their membership. This can be
done only in 30 day increments. Applications are available at
the member service desk and are subject to approval of the
Membership Director.
■ Health Insurance Benefits
The Tri-Community YMCA works with you to receive reimbursement from participating health insurance providers for your
membership fees. We will provide any documentation needed to
assist in the reimbursement process. In addition, the YMCA
gives a 20% discount to Tufts members. All Tufts members
must present their health insurance card to receive the discount. Fallon Senior Plan members receive a free membership
to the YMCA. Fallon Senior Plan members must present their
health insurance card and complete an enrollment packet to
receive their complimentary membership.
■ Military Benefits
All active military members will receive a complimentary YMCA
membership for themselves. They may apply this membership
towards an upgrade of any category. Valid military ID is
required. Deployed military members will receive a membership
for their dependents during their period of deployment.
