WELCOME TO OUR YEAR-END GUESTS
The BucksMont Squires of Song welcome all our guests to our regular Tuesday evening
meeting. We meet every Tuesday starting at 7:00 pm and end at 9:30 so we can share
some fellowship and singing to close the evening.
The Abington-Levittown Chapter was formally organized in August 1995 from a merger
of the Levittown chapter, “The Squires of Bucks,” and the Abington Chapter, “The
Chorus of Old York Road.” Levittown was formed in 1978 and chartered in 1980 with
over 30 members. Abington received their charter in 1962.
The chapters had worked closely before the merger, co-hosting an Atlantic Division
Convention at Abington High School and performing together at the Gallery in downtown
Philadelphia during the holiday season for several years.
Because of these friendly encounters, Abington was able to
approach Levittown and propose combining the choruses into a single
chapter. Through diligent planning and negotiation, a merger was
finalized in 1995. The merged chapter had 50 members and was
named “The BucksMont Squires of Song.”
We belong to the Barbershop Harmony Society, which was
founded on April 11, 1938, as the Society for the Preservation and
Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. (aka,
SPEBSQSA). The chapter is part of the Mid-Atlantic District, one of
seventeen districts in the Society. Today, there are more than 800 chapters across North
America and Canada. With more than 30,000 members, and affiliates in ten foreign
countries, the Society is the world’s largest fraternal
organization focusing on a cappella music.

annual Senior Expo at the Bensalem Senior Center. “One of the special treats for this
year’s Senior Expo was a performance by the BucksMont Squires of Song, a
barbershop harmony chorus from both Bucks and Montgomery counties.”
