Remember, Honor & Never Forget
Many of us have been touched by and know
someone in the armed services. There are many
who have lost someone they love, serving our
country. Fighting for the freedoms that America
enjoys comes at a huge cost. The loss of fathers,
mothers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles,
friends. Families sacrifice so much when their
loved ones are shipped off. The loss that they bear
when that loved one dies in service to America is
unfathomable. Memorial Day is the day we come
together and collectively honor their memory and
their sacrifice.
Each year on Memorial Day a national moment
of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. local time.
Please, take the time, for a moment of silence to
remember the fallen.
Memorial Day originated after the American Civil
War. The Day was designated to commemorate the
Union and Confederate soldiers who lost their lives.
It has since been extended to honor ALL Americans
who have died while serving the United States of
America in a military capacity.
City offices, the Library and the hunt County
shopper will be closed in observance of the
service our men and women have sacrificed. We
hope that this will be a day for you to spend reflecting
on the huge cost of our freedom. The freedom that
is so easily taken for granted in this day and time.
Allowing us the freedom’s of life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness. Are you willing to give your life
for your country, for the freedoms we enjoy?
